NaturAli Trimester 4 Pregnancy Box April 2018 Review

The booklet included began with an introduction and explanation for what counts as the fourth trimester. This box is meant to help with the transitional period when you and your newborn are getting to know each other and you are adjusting to life with baby in your arms instead of your belly. They provide some info on what nutrients you should be consuming as well as some symptoms that you can expect to experience during this time.

The booklet then includes a lot of helpful information about baby and their crying, sleeping and feeding schedules. While this is my third child, I still felt like this was great info to have because you tend to forget some of the little things in between kids! This was a nice reminder and for first-time moms, I’m sure it would be helpful and even comforting to know some of this. The last page was a postpartum checklist of items you might need during your recovery period. Then it finished with a letter from the founder of NaturAli.

Pearhead First Year Belly Stickers in Neutral -

Pearhead First Year Belly Stickers in Neutral - Retail Value $7.95

I’m starting to realize that belly stickers for baby are a very popular item for pregnancy and baby boxes! These are cute and probably the most basic set that I’ve received as they just have 12 stickers with the months listed on them. The gender-neutral design is cute with a little chick on each sticker. The colors are nice too, not just yellow or green as the standard gender-neutral colors, but they threw in some teal and orange to mix it up.

Stasher Reusable Silicone Snack Bag in Raspberry - Retail Value $9.99

This reusable snack bag is pretty awesome! I always use reusable bags or cups for bringing snacks on the go and this is even better because you can put it in the freezer, microwave, dishwasher or even stovetop. It’s also hypoallergenic and  BPA free. It seems like such a versatile little bag, I’m excited to test out different ways of using it.

I love that it seals closed to maintain freshness and that it is pretty flat when closed so that I can easily slip it into a full purse or diaper bag. This is such a practical gift for a new mom, I was happy to receive it. Plus they have a lot more sizes and colors on their website, so I might just have to invest in a few more!

Ella + Mila Nail Polish Mommy Collection in Paint the Town Red - Retail Value $10.50

I love that they included this brand of nail polish in the box, it’s so fitting and cute! However, red is NOT my color. I really wish that it was something a bit more neutral because I really won’t get much use out of it. I am glad that they introduced me to this brand though. I like that they are “7-Free” and don’t contain all of those chemical products. This makes me feel as if I can safely use this on my 3-year-old daughter.

I am a chronic nail biter, so I apologize for not having a better picture of the polish on, but two coats went on easily and since it’s not a super thick polish I haven’t had any chipping yet. It’s a nice, shiny, bright red. I don’t think you can find a more pure red color!

Mama Mio Keep Calm Nipple Balm (1 oz) - Retail Value $16.00

This nipple balm is a blend of medical-grade lanolin, coconut oil, shea butter and olive oil. It is safe to use before nursing without removing it and it can be used on other dry areas of skin as well. I like that this is a smaller tube so it can travel with me. The texture is very silky and smooth which I found to be very gentle on those sore and sensitive areas. It definitely provides relief and has no strong scent which I appreciated.

Earth Mama Organics Milkmaid Tea-

Earth Mama Organics Milkmaid Tea - Retail Value $5.99 (also found here for $5.99)

FYI - This company has recently changed its packaging so a new box may not look like mine!

This tea is meant to aid in breastmilk production and contains fenugreek which is an ingredient known to help with that. This tea also contains fennel which I normally consider to have a fairly strong flavor, but I found that this was actually pretty mild in taste. It had sort of a sweet, milky flavor that I couldn’t put my finger on, but after reading on the box that it  “may cause maple syrup odor in urine,” I realize that maple was the sweet flavor I was tasting.

I think this was a great item for this box - any breastfeeding mother has probably worried about or doubted her supply at one point or another so this is a perfect item to support them.

Acure Dry Shampoo (1.7 oz)

Acure Dry Shampoo (1.7 oz) - Retail Value $9.99 (also found here for $9.99)

In case you aren’t familiar with Acure, they describe themselves as “a family owned and operated company founded on sustainable principles to provide the highest quality natural and certified organic personal care.” I am not a big user of dry shampoo usually and I have only tried aerosol sprays before. This was in powder form and has a light, but refreshing scent of rosemary and peppermint. I applied it directly to my hair, but I think in the future it’s probably better to add it to your brush and apply it that way since the powder took a few brush throughs to really work it through my hair. I really wish that I had this in my hospital bag because it would have been perfect for freshening up before I had a chance to shower!

Happy Mama Breastfeeding Support Lactation Oat Bar in Peach Coconut Cashew - Estimated Value $1.99 (Buy 15 for $29.85, found here for $27.99)

While I have heard of the brand before, I didn’t know that they made lactation bars. In theory, I think this is great, and I loved that they included this helpful Breastfeeding 101 guide as well as two coupons.

The bar itself was a bit dry and the main flavors that I tasted were ginger, peach and a hint of cinnamon. While they weren’t awful and I think I could eat them on a regular basis if I had to, I don’t think I would go out of my way to buy these. Although I did find myself going back for more bites despite not being crazy about the taste- it’s one of those flavors that you can’t stop trying!

Mommy Watches Baby Bottle Accessory in Lavender - Estimated Value $9 (Buy 2 for $17.99)

This product was completely new to me - it began with a Kickstarter campaign and I was excited to see something so unique in this box. This smartwatch is meant to track the time and temperature of breast milk in bottles and bags once it’s been pumped. This is helpful for a forgetful mom or even for someone who is babysitting so that they can know whether the milk is still safe for baby or not.

The instructions were easy to follow and it fits well on the bottles that I have, however, my watch did not work. I tried several times to test it and the lights never lit up for me. That was pretty disappointing and I thought maybe I was doing something wrong, but after trying to locate the product online, the only place I was able to find it was Amazon and the reviews on there said the same thing. Such a great idea, but it seems like this product still needs a bit of work.

I reached out to NaturAli's customer service and they quickly responded offering to send a replacement and to let the manufacturer know about the issue.

Cocokind My Matcha All-Over Moisture Stick (0.5 oz) - Retail Value $8.99

While the green color isn’t so appealing, this stick is awesome! This can be used pretty much anywhere that you need a moisture boost- lips, under your eyes and it even says it can reduce dark circles. While I haven’t tried it for that yet, I did have a dry patch on my cheek that nothing was working on and when I got this, that was the first thing I tried. The next day it was actually gone! It’s made from coconut oil, beeswax and matcha tea powder and has a slight tea scent, but is very mild. It feels incredibly moisturizing and I love that the stick is a bit oversized which means there is a bit more product and it’s easy to locate if you throw it in your purse.

Bug and Beans ZZZZ Infant Gown

Bug and Beans ZZZZ Infant Gown - Retail Value $12.00

I love that there was a product in here for baby too! This is simple and cute and came in newborn size, but is actually a bit big on my little guy (who is not so little at almost 9 lbs!). So I like that he has some room to grow in it- plus the gown is such a great newborn clothing option because it’s so much easier to change diapers in. It also has the little fold-over sleeves so that you can really keep your little one warm or from scratching their face. Cute and practical!

NaturAli Fit Resistance Band Kit - Retail Value $30.00

Something I enjoy receiving in the NaturAli boxes is their fitness items. These bands come in their own bag so they are compact and easy to store. I’m still not quite ready to think about getting in shape yet at less than two weeks post-partum, but I love how easy these will be to use once I do get to that point.

There are so many options within this kit with band resistances ranging from 2-30 lbs that can be stacked together to reach up to 75 lbs. There are both handles and ankle straps and they included a sheet of exercises for working out various body parts. This will be great to use if I can ever find the time to work out again now that I have 3 kids!

Verdict: The total value for this box came to $122.40 which is a little higher than the cost of the $100 box. The variety of products definitely met the goal of providing a mix of beauty, fitness, nutrition and post-partum products to support women in that “4th” trimester and it did feel carefully curated to me. I am torn on how I feel about the value though since I discovered a lot of new products that I’m excited about like the Matcha stick and Stasher bag, but some items I won’t get much use out of like the red nail polish, belly stickers and of course, the Mommy Watch that doesn’t work. I think that this box is a fun one to get or gift, but I think if you want to get the most value out of it, it’s best if you are able to take advantage of the subscription discounts!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes. Although, the items in your box may vary from mine depending on what trimester of pregnancy you are in!

I am a homeschooling mom to 4 kids; 1 girl and 3 boys. While I have been reviewing boxes since 2018 and I love the luxury of trying new products, I'm also balancing it out by dabbling in a little bit of homesteading, too. We now have 4 chickens and a rabbit and my sourdough starter is going strong! I love learning about new brands and sharing the great things I find with others in hopes that they find something new to love or to fit their needs!

Fun fact, fenugreek also makes your sweat smell like maple syrup! I think that’s a great side effect!

NEWBORN BABY PICTURES AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

Adorable. Also I didn’t know baby’s scratching their faces were a thing? Why they do that?

Brandi

Haha thanks! 🙂 I think the scratching is just accidental! They flail their little arms and hands near their head and it just happens sometimes!
