Bulu Box April 2018 Box

Bulu Box is a monthly fitness and weight loss subscription. The original Bulu Box is focused more on fitness and general health supplements, and they also offer a Weight Loss box that focuses more on diet products.

My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

This review is of the Original Bulu, $10 a month, box.

Bulu Box April 2018 Review

There isn’t a theme for Bulu Box and there is some personalization involved, so the contents are usually a surprise:

Bulu Box April 2018 Booklet Front Bulu Box April 2018 Booklet Back

Because of the variations with this subscription, there’s not a traditional information card listing the items.

Bulu Box April 2018 Literature

There are also usually some coupons and/or product literature with this subscription. They don’t always relate to the items in the box.

Bulu Box April 2018 Lavle 1 Bulu Box April 2018 Lavle 2

Lavle Belgian Dark Chocolate, x2 – Buy a 15-Day Supply for $14.90

I’m having a little trouble determining how many pieces of chocolate are in a “15-day supply” (i.e, I don’t know if you eat 2 pieces or 1 piece per day). Anyway, this is 65% cacao chocolate whereas I usually see 75% or better recommended to get all the benefits of flavanols (antioxidants) in dark chocolate. On the other hand, the manufacturer is pretty specific about the vitamin, mineral, and flavanol content, so if you are not a fan of the flavor of darker chocolate, this may still work. These have some dairy and soy ingredients although I would not say they taste like milk chocolate. (The soy is probably lecithin, an emulsifier.)

This item was also included in the April Bulu Box Weight Loss.

Bulu Box April 2018 Coldkicker

Coldkicker, 4 tablets – Buy 60 Tablets for $17.99

These are supposed to help you fight off a cold faster. You are supposed to take all 4 of them at once (they are BIG tablets). They contain zinc, some B vitamins, and a bunch of herbs that I have seen in respiratory support teas and the like (echinacea, eleuthero root, licorice root, etc.). This apparently contains fish although I’m not sure which ingredient is fish-based. Anyway, there are no colds going around my office or my husband’s office at the moment so I couldn’t give these to someone to try out just yet but I’ll hang onto them for the future.

Bulu Box April 2018 Electrolyte

Elete Electrolyte Add-In, 24.6 mL – Retail Value $6.50

From what I can tell, this is basically sea minerals but it is supposed to not have a huge amount of sodium (obviously there will be some). This is a flavorless add-in with no sugar (nice for a change) that you can put into any other beverage. This bottle is about 10 servings, though the dropper allows you to add less than that if you want. I can’t say I felt different after using this once but I don’t think that, in general, I am suffering from low electrolytes, so that’s probably why. I’ll keep the rest of this around for if I get sick and feel dehydrated.

Bulu Box April 2018 Soulja Fit

Soulja Fit Pre workout in Blueberry Lemonade – Buy 45 Servings for $38.99

This is caffeinated and contains creatine (which leads to muscle gain when used in combination with a proper lifting program, but also water weight gain) so I mixed it up to taste test only. (Not looking for water weight gain, and I work out at night so also not looking for insomnia…) I think blueberry lemonade works better for me than other flavors of fruit combined with lemon because blueberries are a little sweeter than, say, raspberries, and cut some of the tartness of the lemon. Or at least, that was the impression I got from trying this, anyway. Anyway, if you don’t have any heart problems and are looking to build muscle, this may be worth checking out.

This product was included in the April Bulu Box Weight Loss.

Bulu Box April 2018 Rose

Rosense Rosewater Spray, 50 mL – Buy 100 mL for $12.49 (found on sale here for $11.87)

This is just plain rose water. I don’t use facial mists, but rosewater works pretty well as a toner, especially during cold and dry weather when you might want to avoid alcohol, witch hazel, and similar ingredients. This smells pretty nice and offers some mild toning benefits, and it didn’t irritate the sensitive skin under my eyes.

Verdict: There were five items in this month’s Bulu Box (counting the chocolate as one). How much value to assign to each depends on how much you paid for the box. If you paid full price, they average out to $2 apiece. I got in on a $5 for life deal, so the average cost per item is $1 for me. (use code MYSUB599 to get your subscription at $5.99 per month, for life!) Other deals are possible, so your average depends on how much you paid. From my perspective, the individual item values were generally above $1, so I feel like I got a good deal this month. The rose water alone is worth more than the box cost me, as was the electrolyte add-in.

I’d strongly recommend using our MYSUB599 coupon code when you subscribe and choosing either the regular or the weight loss box, but not both since there is a lot of product repetition between the two. Please also note that instead of getting points you can redeem for merchandise if you review your samples, now you get sweepstakes entries, which isn’t as good of a deal (unless you are the winner…).

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, May would be your first shipment. Also, keep in mind that there are variations in the boxes, so your box might not be exactly like mine in any given month.

Coupon - Use our coupon code MYSUB599 to get your subscription at $5.99 per month, for the lifetime of the subscription!

Value Breakdown: At $10 for the box, you are paying about $2 per item. If you got the $5 for life deal, you’re paying about $1 per item.

MYSUB599 doesn’t work. It just defaults to $7.99 after you apply it.

That’s good to know. I’ll have to make sure my sub is still locked in at $5.99 then!
