Vellum Box March 2018 Review
This month’s box has the theme of “Jane’s Kiss,” and it contains all things Jane Eyre, the novel by Charlotte Brontë. Just like last month, the art for this card is absolutely beautiful, and the back breaks down all of the items that are found inside.
On Fire, In Love Exclusive Candle, 2oz
Candles are one of my favorite things to receive in a subscription box - they’re just so useful. This one is a great scent; the mix of pomegranate and citrus balance each other so well, and there’s a really nice note of something floral in there that rounds this out completely. I may just leave this uncapped in my office - I don’t have the heart to burn it just yet!
One of the most famous quotes from the book is the star of this tee - “I am a free human being with an independent will,” and it’s probably the quote that represents Jane the best throughout the novel. The rendering of the bird and cage motif is just gorgeous - it reminds me of the super-traditional style of tattoos that some of my friends have. It’s so gorgeous and graphic at the same time!
Jane Eyre Book Matches - Retail Value $3.50
I am a sucker for tiny things that look like other things, and this book of matches crafted to look like the novel is super-cute! The printing is really high quality, and I really like the style of the novel cover that was chosen for this design.
Thornfield Kiss Lip Balm, .15 oz - Retail Value $3.50
I was so excited to see lip balm in this box! I’m that person that always has about four different varieties in her purse at any given time, so there is never going to be a world where lip gloss doesn’t immediately lift my mood, especially when it smells this good! I love the rose scent punched up with passion fruit, and the coconut oil makes this formula super-smooth.
Jane and Edward Print and Mirror
I’ve grouped these items together because they’re by the same artist! I love this rendering of Edward and Jane, and it translates beautifully to this hand mirror. These colors are so warm and earthy and would look good in so many different rooms. These mirrors are always so useful, too - I stick one in practically every purse!
Another really popular quote from this book is, “I ask you to pass through life at my side—to be my second self, and best earthly companion,” and this mini-print does a really nice job of making the quote the standout element. I love the watercolor style the artist chose for this; it’s so pretty and tranquil!
Verdict: I really liked seeing another Vellum Box, and some of the concerns I had with the theming of the first box were completely solved with this one. I thought the theme of this box was so solid, and I really loved all the items that were chosen, especially the candle and lip balm. Vellum Box notes on their site that the fitted nature of their tee shirts on the site, so make sure you keep that in mind if you have a hankering to order one of these boxes!
