The BAM! Horror Box January 2018 Review

This month’s box included items from Insidious, The Soska Sisters of American Mary, Nightmare Elm St 3, The Exorcist, and Salem’s Lot:

Salem’s Lot Enamel Fan Art Pin by Artist Create or Destroy

Salem’s Lot Enamel Fan Art Pin by Artist Create or Destroy — Estimated Value $10

Each month comes with an enamel BAM pin. This month’s pin for Salem’s Lot came in three different design variants. I didn’t receive one of the limited edition pins, but I did get the one that is designed after the original mini-series awesome original poster art.

Soska Sisters Autographed Photo

Soska Sisters Autographed Photo - Retail Value Unavailable

This month included a signed photograph from the directors of American Mary, The Soksa Sisters. There were two variants of photos signed by the sisters, but the limited edition box also included a signed director’s clipboard. I did not receive the clipboard in my box, but that is okay. The photo, as always, includes a certificate of authenticity.

Amulet of Pazuzu Head replica by Dark Matters Props

Amulet of Pazuzu Head Replica by Dark Matters Props — Estimated Value $16.99

Pazuzu was the main demonic antagonist in the classic, The Exorcist. This stone replica is incredibly well made. It has enough weight on it to use as a paperweight. I sense I will be gifting it to my cousin for this birthday (don’t tell him!) because he also is a big horror movie fiend. He got me into movies like Nightmare on Elm Street growing up and I know The Exorcist is a favorite of his, so I was rather excited to receive this piece.

Nancy’s Replica Hypnocil Prop Pill Bottle from A Nightmare on Elm Street 3

Nancy’s Replica Hypnocil Prop Pill Bottle from A Nightmare on Elm Street 3 — Retail Value Unavailable

The second replica included in this month’s box is of the bottle of pills that fell from Nancy’s hand in Nightmare on Elm St 3: Dream Warriors. This is a cool piece, but I can’t imagine the retail value or collectability of this item being high. I wouldn’t mind seeing a piece involving the TV death scene. It is classic!

BAM! Box Exclusive Insidious Fan Art Collection Exclusive Print by Steve Jenks — Retail Value Unavailable

Finally, we have a print by the illustrator, Steve Jenks, that is themed after the movie, Insidious. The art print comes in two variations: one in monochromatic grey/green and the other in shades of purple. I did not receive the rarer of the two this time around. I have not seen the Insidious movies, so I was a bit indifferent about this selection. This print also comes along with a certificate of authenticity like all art prints BAM! Horror includes in their boxes.

Verdict: This month’s box was a rough follow up to last month’s amazing December box. The items I liked best were the Salem’s Lot pin and Amulet of Pazuzu Head replica from The Exorcist, but I wasn’t wowed like I was last month. Even though I am a big Nightmare on Elm Street fan, the replica chosen seemed cheap and lackluster.  This month’s box was a rocky one, but I am still eager to see what February’s BAM! Horror Box will bring!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, you will receive the March box. From Bam!:

Your box will ship on the 28th of every month. Please order by 5 pm on the 17th to get the current box.

Value Breakdown: This box cost me $26.99 + $7.99 shipping, which means that each of the 5 items in the box has an average cost of $7.

Cool pin. The rest is pretty meh. I keep an eye on this subj but for me, it’s just full of too many impractical items for me to stay subscribed.

Carolann, yeah, this month’s wasn’t nearly as exciting as December’s! I finally got February’s box in the mail, so that should be fun!
