Sticky Kit March 2018 Review
On the back of the little “Enjoy your March Kit” welcome card is this quick thank you with info about where to find Sticky Kit online. The Sticky Kit shop usually has past kits available for purchase, and occasionally they have products from the current month’s subscriptions for sale.
Botanical Mini Card
Sticky Kit includes a bonus non-tape item in their washi tape kits and this time it was a fun little card with scalloped edges and an embossed designed colored in deep red and khaki. The little plants printed on this card are adorable, but the beetle is my favorite part! This little guy is super-thick cardstock with a blank back. I might even just use it as decoration somewhere in my house!
TSUTSUMU ‘Hydrangea Powder’ Washi Tape – Retail Value $2.09
Consistent with the Sticky Kit Sticker subscription for this month, the Washi Tape sub is rarin’ and ready for spring! This petal-filled roll is the first of many floral tapes in March’s shipment. It features photorealistic flowers that look like they were pressed inside a book, and are beautifully detailed to the point that you can see the veins of the petals. I think this is my favorite of all four tapes included this month because of how unique its realistic details are.
Classiky Floral Washi Tape – Retail Value $2.90
This next one is another white washi tape with a flowering pattern. It looks to me like if this tape were thicker, it would show that these navy, sky blue, and pastel pink leafy flowers live on blossoming trees or bushes. I love that there are also little butterflies and bees incorporated—insect themes are such an evocative springtime concept that offers a little change-up from straightforward florals.
This peachy tape has such a retro vibe to me! It would make a pretty wallpaper, wouldn’t it? The white flowers represented are actually a bit translucent, so they would probably pick up a little bit of whatever background color this tape is stuck to.
This tape resembles the first one I reviewed, but instead of photorealistic florals, it features watercolor-inspired ones, as well as some leafy sprigs and dotted designs. It’s designed using a wider variety of colors than the other one did but is still so similar that I might keep one and pass the other along to a friend or coworker. It’s too bad because I would probably be a little more taken by this design if it were paired with other patterns that don’t have quite as much overlap.
The Verdict: It’s hard not to love a good floral washi tape, though I do wish my March Sticky Kit Washi Tape selection offered a bit more variety. I would’ve loved to have seen more non-floral plants, bugs, or critters. Even raindrops or puffy clouds would have added some seasonal variety! Still, I’ll look forward to finding uses for these pretty patterns as I craft homemade cards, scrapbook pages, and more.
To Wrap Up:
