SnackSack Vegan January 2018 Review
SnackSack includes a pamphlet that notes all of the products that are within the box, along with how to find them online. This is always super helpful when navigating your box, but also a great way to find how to purchase more.
Every first-time customer receives a tote (sack), which is meant to hold your snacks. I am always in need of more tote bags because I love to use them to carry snacks or lunches while I am out. Plus, this comes with a cute snowman pin.
Biena Chickpea Snacks, 1.2 oz. – Buy a 4-pc of 5 oz. bags for $17.96
These baked chickpeas are my ideal snack. They are super crunchy with a light coating of sea salt sprinkled all over each batch. The bag is the perfect to-go size that you can just pop a few into your hand to snack on. Plus, these chickpeas are super filling and a great source of protein.
Baked Whole Food Bar by Earnest Eats, 1.9 oz. – Buy 12 bars for $63.99
This whole food bar is packed full of fiber! This is the perfect snack to eat as a quick morning or afternoon pick-me-up and is perfect to snack on while on the go. It is extra filling and is not lacking in the flavor department. This bar has cranberries and lemon zest mixed in with the vegan oats. You get a bold tart flavor mixed with a light sweetness. This really is a health-food bar so if you are looking for something that still tastes like a cookie, this probably isn’t for you.
Nature’s Bakery Fig Bar, 2 oz. – Buy 6, 2 oz. twin packs for $2.78
I love fig bars, which is so funny to me because I grew up thinking figs were the worst. How things change as we get older! These bars are something I am familiar with and love snacking on. They are great to toss in my diaper bag and eat whenever I need something sweet and filling. The outer cookie is so soft and crumbles perfectly with each bite. The fig jam in the center is so sweet with a light tartness that I really love!
This energy drink is packed full of different ingredients like ginseng, green tea, guarana, and echinacea. All are meant to give you a quick energy boost while stimulating your immune system. I am not the biggest fan of grapefruit flavors, and this drink is really strong in terms of that tartness that comes from grapefruit. That being said, I was only able to take a few sips, but I thought the flavors were good, just a little too strong for my taste buds. I did feel an energy boost from only a few sips so I’m glad I didn’t think the whole container because I probably would have been racing a bit.
North Coast Apple Sauce, 0.70 oz. – Buy 2 packs of 12 pouches for $38.97
With a hungry toddler around, we blow through applesauce pouches! I am always excited to see a new brand in a snack box that I can try, especially one that has no added sugar or preservatives. My son gobbled this pouch down in a record time. I was also happy to see that they sell this brand at my grocery store, plus you can get it in bulk online so I am going to have to stock up!
Maya Kaimal Naan Chips, 1.5 oz. – Buy a 6 oz. bag for $3.99
Best snack of the month! I don’t know how they did it, but this crunchy snack tastes just like fresh naan. The only difference, obviously, is that this is crunchy. You can eat this snack right out of the bag or use it to dip. I could see these being the perfect addition to an olive and cheese plate. I didn’t get a chance to dip these though because they were so good I ate the whole bag within minutes! I am going to need to buy these in bulk!
Perfect Fuel Dark Chocolate Energy Bite x 3 – Buy a 3 oz. bag for $17.99
These dark chocolate bites are very dense and packed full of healthy ingredients! I received three bars, two of the chia flavor, and each has zero refined sugars, soy, gluten, or dairy. They are also rich in antioxidants while filling you up with energy that you will need throughout your day! I love dark chocolate, but these bites are on the stronger end with a super bitter taste. The chocolate is hard with little to no sweetness. While I didn’t love these bites, my husband thought they were delicious and loved the quick boost of energy he felt with each bar.
Oogie’s Gourmet Popcorn, 1 oz. – Buy a box of 12 for $34.95
I love kettle popcorn, it takes me back to being a kid in the summer snacking on big bags of popcorn! This brand of popcorn is made fresh in Colorado and features a low fat and calories popcorn option. Honestly, I wouldn’t have known that this popcorn was low in fat or calories because this not lacking in the flavor area at all. This popcorn is so sweet and popped to perfection. I shared this bag with my husband and we were fighting over who got to finish the bag down to the last kernel.
Popped Chickpeatos, 1 oz. – Buy 8, 4 oz. bags for $28
This bag is filled with baked peas and chickpeas. They are fluffy almost like a cheese puff snack, but they have this lovely vegetable flavor. Each bite is super light with hints of salt. Peas and chickpeas are a great source of protein so this is a great way to get some of that healthy stuff through a yummy snack that you can enjoy on the go!
Skratch Energy Bar, 1.8 oz. – Retail Value $2.65
This energy bar is made with oats, nut butter, sea salt, brown rice crisps, and quinoa. The bar itself is super filling and will provide you with tons of energy and lots of fiber. I loved the crunch that the almonds gave to each bite, and the chocolate chips gave this lovely sweetness that cut through all of the grains. I ate this bar as an afternoon snack and really felt the energy boost from it right away, plus it got me through that afternoon need for something sweet.
These vegan gummies had a bold fruit flavor from the moment I opened them. My son loves fruit snacks so I am always super excited to try a new brand. I think these flavors were a bit too strong for him though because he was not a fan of these flavors. When I tried them I got a mix of an orange, grapefruit, and coconut flavor. While I didn’t love these flavors, my husband thought the snack was delicious so he was happy to take the whole bag for himself!
That’s It Apple, Pear, Ginger Bar, 1.2 oz. – Buy a box of 12 for $18.99
I love these bars and was super excited to see a new flavor featured! Each bite is super soft with a yummy oat flavor that really packs everything together. I was happy to taste real chunks of apple and pear in this bar, which are some of my favorite fruits! I am not the biggest fan of ginger, but I thought the flavor paired nicely with the fruit.
Verdict: SnackSack is always a bit hit in my house! The best part is that I can usually find a snack or two that I can share with my toddler, and that allows me to learn about new snacks and brands that he might enjoy. This month’s box was packed full of some familiar snacks and some brands that were completely new to me! Since so many of these snacks can only be purchased in bulk online, I see such a great value in being able to taste these in my monthly SnackSack boxes. This month had a few snacks that were flavored with things that I don’t really enjoy while other snacks were a huge hit, so it really is great being able to try smaller bags at home before buying more!
