SnackNation February 2018 Review
Balance Cookie Dough Nutrition Bar, 1.76 oz. – Buy a box of 6 for $4.99
This bar was so delicious! Packed full of 15 grams of protein along with other vitamins and minerals, this is the perfect afternoon snack to give me that extra bit of energy. Also, I am always looking for something sweet by the afternoon and this really allowed me to have something yummy without feeling too guilty. I love when bars have a cookie dough filling, this one was creamy and perfectly sweet!
Bobo’s Bites Original, 1.3 oz. – Buy a 3 oz. bar for $3.49
I have had the coconut bite from this brand before, but I was super excited to get the original in this month’s box! This bite is made from organic rolled oats, brown rice syrup, buttery spread, along with a few other special ingredients. This bite is like a soft-baked cookie! You could pop this into the microwave and tell something you just baked it that is how good it is. You get a light sweetness from the syrup and oats while each soft bite just crumbles in your mouth. I could have eaten twelve of these!
Super Yummys Coco Yummy, .5 oz. – Buy a box of 8 for $4.49
If you follow my other snack reviews then you will know that coconut still hasn’t grown on me. This little treat had a strong coconut smell, which I was so sad about because it looks so sweet and delicious! Each bite is rich in energy providing ingredients and antioxidants. I shared this one with my husband who was surprised that it was a healthy treat! He said that it tastes just like a soft caramel like candy with a coconut flavor. So chewy and sweet!
HalfPops Popcorn, 0.75 oz. – Buy 3, 4.5 oz. bags for $18.99
I have had these half-popped popcorn kernels in other snack boxes and they really are growing on me. Each bite does taste as though you are eating uncooked popcorn, but with the light black truffle and sea salt flavor, it somehow works! The black truffle season really stood out to me and was so salty, the perfect topper for popcorn in my opinion.
Janis & Melanie Chocolate Chunk Cookie, 1 oz. – Buy a box of 8 for $5.80
Oh my, a soft baked cookie, my absolute favorite! The brand’s website says that each cookie is “an old favorite using rich chocolates and would make your grandma proud.” I agree! This was a delightful surprise because the cookie was so sweet and so rich. The cookie was soft and crumbled with each bite and had a light sweetness. The chocolate chips were thick and perfectly sweet. Favorite snack of the month!
Jojo’s Chocolate Bark, 1.2 oz. – Buy an 8.4 oz. bag for $14.99
This dark chocolate bark is packed with protein and rich in antioxidants. Plus, it has half the added sugars that you would find in a traditional chocolate bark. The dark chocolate was super bitter with very little sweetness. It packed a big crunch on top of the raw almonds that added a whole new layer of crunchiness. The almonds also broke-up with the bitterness from the dark chocolate.
Little Secrets Toasted Coconut Candies, 1.5 oz. – Buy a variety 3-pack for $19.99
This treat was very interesting! Each little candy tasted like an m&m with a strong coconut flavor added to it. Each bag is made with fair trade chocolate and is made up of 55% dark chocolate. So you really get hints of sweet and bitterness on top of the coconut flavor. Since I am not the biggest fan of coconut snacks, I passed these along to my Mom who loved this sweet treat!
Made Good Chocolate Chip Granola Bar, 0.85 oz. – Buy a box of 6 for $4.75
I love this brand and was so excited to try a granola bar from them since I have only ever tried their granola bites. This really tastes very similar to the bites but packed a lot more sweetness. Plus, with it being a bar it is the perfect mid-morning snack to really help push me through any cravings before lunch. The oats are super thick and pair so nicely with the chocolate chips that are so sweet.
St. Michel Madeleine, 0.75 oz. – Buy an 8.81 oz. bag for $3.99
What a wonderful surprise! This French sponge cake is the perfect little treat. You can pair this with a cup of coffee in the morning or add some ice cream to it for a yummy treat. The cake is so fluffy and sweet, almost like it is flavored with honey. I remember trying one of these when I was a littel girl so I was excited to try it again as an adult, it did not disappoint!
Wonderful Pistachios, 1 oz. – Buy an 8 oz. bag for $3.94
Pistachios are always a great snack to receive because I truly love snacking on them! I love when they come in the shell even though they can take a bit of work to get them out of it to enjoy. Each pistachio is lightly salted and has that lovely crunch. I have found that pistachios are a super filling snack that I love eating during the afternoon. Plus they are so easy to toss in your bag to have on hand whenever you need something to eat fast!
Poppies Coconut Macaroon, 40 g – Buy a 6.7 oz. box for $5.77
I just received this cute little macaroon in another snack box! I wish this wasn’t coconut flavor because, as we know, I don’t love the flavor. I shared this little treat with my husband and boy did he love it! The macaroon is so soft and perfectly sweet. The hard chocolate bottom and drizzle of chocolate on top makes this the perfect treat to enjoy with a hot cup of coffee.
Quinn Pretzels Touch of Honey, 1 oz. – Buy a box of 8 for $31.14
We received these pretzels in a snack box a while back and my son became obsessed with them! We just blew through our last bag so I was excited to receive a new one this month. The pretzels really are sweet like honey which pairs so nicely with the light touch of salt on each piece.
I love lentils, but I have never had them roasted like this before. I was surprised to see how small they were and how much heat they packed! Each handful was super spicy, super crunchy, and really filling. I love that these are also a superfood snack as well. I am going to have to buy more of these to eat on the go because they really filled me up and gave me lots of energy.
I am seeing this brand all over the place now and was really excited to try a bar finally! This one really tasted like a gourmet nutrient bar. The almonds added this lovely crunch while the sea salt broke through the the bitterness from the chocolate. The dates were a big hit for me, adding this lovely sweetness that I wasn’t expecting!
Sheffa Mint Chocolate Granola Bar, 0.85 oz. – Retail Value $1.09
Our last snack of the month is this lovely mint and chocolate granola bar. My husband is obsessed with mint and chocolate anything so he called dibs on this one, but I was still able to sneak a bite. The mint was super strong but it paired really well with the dark chocolate chunks. The oats were so rich and creamy and really bound everything together so nicely. Another super-filling snack!
Verdict: SnackNation was such a delight this month! Normally I have found to receive a lot of the same things month after month, but I thought this box had a great variety. Plus, I was happy to be introduced to so many brands that were new to me. Even the snacks that I have had before were hits that I was super excited to see again. The value really showed through this month with the curation, and allowed me to meet some new brands that I might not have known about.
