Quilty Box Mini January 2018

The Bundles of Inspiration magazine includes an interview with featured artist Jackie Kunkel, along with two projects to make.

Blue Moon Fabric by Jackie Kunkel – Retail Value $14.99

One of the neat things about Quilty Box is that the featured artist is the designer of the fabric itself, not just the project. This fabric bundle features beautiful shades of blue and purple. I love the mottled watercolor look!

Aurifil Thread, Blue Moon Collection by Jackie Kunkel, 50wt – Listed Value $4.99

This thread is actually part of a whole Blue Moon collection that coordinates with the fabric. I think every Quilty Box I've gotten has contained Aurifil thread! I'm not complaining though because the quality is great.

Pattern by Jeni Baker –  Estimated Value $4.50

I like the geometric pattern of this quilt design. It goes nicely with the fabric choice and was really easy to make.

First, I cut out the pieces. The colors are so beautiful together that it already looks nice!

Next, I sewed a diagonal line on one edge.

When I sewed a diagonal line on the opposite edge, the pieces became triangular. I trimmed the extra fabric off the back.

Here's my finished quilt box! I think a full quilt of this fabric would be beautiful.

Verdict: I love the fabric that was included this time, and I also found the quilt pattern surprisingly easy. As a beginning quilter, I still make a lot of mistakes, and this pattern with this fabric is really forgiving. All the items were a win for me in this month's Quilty Box Mini
