Mine Chest January/February 2018 Review
This month’s theme is Journey to Bedrock! No, it’s not a bad picture, the front of every postcard they send is a super cool hologram! The themes every shipment seem to center around a different “biome” usually.
The info card included is a cryptic postcard with hints as to what everything inside the box is. Fun!
Exclusive Minecraft Tee – Estimated Value $15
Possibly my favorite thing about our Mine Chest subscription is having my son explain to me what the tee shirt depicts. This month it’s silverfish! Ew! So my son tells me that sometimes when you are mining bedrock, silverfish pop out everywhere. Gross! It reminds me of gardening sometimes.
Mine Chest Exclusive Sticker – Estimated Value $1
This sign is something my son knew about right away. It’s a good warning for anyone, but in Minecraft, if you dig straight down you might fall into hot lava! He also started telling me the legend of Steve digging straight down, falling into lava, and turning into some kind of anti-hero named Hare O’Brine. Weird stuff.
Plush Bedrock – Estimated Value $8
This is another Mine Chest exclusive! It’s a block! Imagine that! In keeping with this month’s theme, this is bedrock. Mine Chest used to send stamps every month, but several months ago they switched to plush blocks, and I think that’s a pretty fun idea, actually. My son likes it.
Minecraft Exclusive Pin – Estimated Value $5
It’s a block of magma! Careful now! I guess this is what happens when you dig beyond the bedrock.
Minecraft Hangers Mystery Pack Series 3 (x2) – Total Retail Value $11.98 ($5.99 each)
What kid doesn’t love blind bags? My son was happy to get these two little guys. On the left is an iron gollum, which can apparently protect the villagers from zombies. On the right is some slime. Yay!
The Verdict: This was another awesome package from Mine Chest! I mainly gauge how cool a Mine Chest is by my son’s reactions to the swag, and it never disappoints. This month his favorite item was the bedrock plush, and the last package it was also the plush, so I think he is really getting into using the plush blocks for building. He also really likes sharing with his friends. The value of everything this month adds up to about $41, which about breaks even with the cost of the box. This is such a fun subscription for Minecraft fans!

I wanted to use the 30% off code to subscribe, but the link takes me to lootcrate.com. Since lootcrate is no longer going to have the mine chest sub, the 30% off + free crate deal no longer works, right? There’s no place to subscribe yet on minechest.com, so I’m guessing that was an old discount/offer. 😕
If that’s the case, I won’t be signing up for more than one month. My son would love it, so I will get at least one.
Same here—I have to get at least one for my son. Hopefully there will be a good coupon, so I can get more than one month.
I can’t figure out how to actually sign up! I’d love to get this for my son!!
Yeah, me too! Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like you can sign up right now, which means the offer code is from lootcrate and will no longer work. 🙁
