BuffBoxx February 2018 Review

BuffBoxx has stopped providing information cards, possibly because there is some customization based on clothing size, dietary restrictions, etc.:

Buffboxx February 2018 Coupons

But they do usually give you some coupons and/or product literature.

Buffboxx February 2018 Tank

UnderArmour Threadborne Tank, Size XS – Retail Value $29.99

This is designed to have a relaxed fit and it did. It’s supposed to wick moisture away and dry fast, and it might, but my basement exercise room was cold yesterday (and I’m still working back to my pre-hysterectomy fitness level) so I didn’t sweat very much. I’ll have to wait until summer to test that property of things. But, it was comfortable and didn’t really get in the way when I was swinging my kettlebell. (Also there hasn’t been an Angus photobomb in a review for a long time so I figured there needed to be one…)

Buffboxx February 2018 Leg Power

Per4m Leg Power Tube – Retail Value $14.99

There’s usually one piece of gear in this subscription. This is definitely an item I don’t already have. I could only think of one exercise, but luckily this came with cards that had a number of other possibilities. These are adjustable to fit a lot of different ankle widths although you only get the one tension from the included band. The ankle straps are much more comfortable than the rubber from flimsy resistance loop bands.

There were also safety instructions and a carrying case. Very helpful.

Buffboxx February 2018 Good Karma Vanilla

Good Karma Flaxmilk in Vanilla, 10 fl oz – Buy 12 Bottles for $30

This is a dairy-free protein drink. I will give Buffboxx points for several different aspects of this item. (1) It is completely new to me. (2) It does not involve coconut water in any way. (3) It is vegetarian (vegan, actually) so I was able to try it. And (4) it really is not bad. I am not normally a consumer of packaged shakes and smoothies but this had a pleasant flavor (not overpowering) and a reasonable number of calories.

Buffboxx February 2018 Good Karma Chocolate

Good Karma Flaxmilk in Chocolate, 10 fl oz. – Buy 12 Bottles for $30

I have the same basic things to say about the chocolate flavor as I do about the vanilla. Except, of course, this being chocolate, I was a bigger fan of this one.

Buffboxx February 2018 Preworkout

First Order Performance Pre-Workout in Pink Lemonade, 30 servings – Buy 60 Servings for $30

This is really quite reasonably priced for a pre-workout supplement (they often go for more than $1/serving). I also think the pink lemonade flavor worked. This has creatine which is one of the only compounds that has actual science behind it in terms of muscle building, though it does also lead to water weight gain. Please also note one serving has as much caffeine as about two cups of coffee, so consume with caution and maybe don’t use it before cardio. This is sweetened with sucralose and xylose.  I like that the color comes from beetroot powder instead of an artificial dye.

Buffboxx February 2018 Replay

Re:Play Hydration in Tropical Breeze, o.51 oz. – Retail Value $2.29

This is designed mostly for use after vigorous exercise or other activity (manual labor, for example) in high heat. I think the description is a little funny in that it says “re:play uses a non-glucose amino acid in your intestine.” Because all amino acids are “non-glucose,” since glucose is a sugar. Well, probably a biochemist didn’t write the description. The amino acid appears to be glutamine. This also has probiotics and prebiotics and is sweetened with stevia. I think I might’ve enjoyed the flavor more if not for the stevia, which I really can’t get into as a sweetener. There is just an aftertaste I’m not a fan of.

Buffboxx February 2018 Fidget Spinner

Buffboxx Fidget Spinner

There’s always a piece of promotional merchandise in Buffboxx and it is always different. This month it is a fidget spinner.

Verdict: I didn’t calculate a value for BuffBoxx this month because there were a lot of samples and small items, including a few values I had to estimate. The three high ticket items (tank and Leg Power and pre-workout supplement) had a total value of about $60 and the box costs $49.99, so you are getting your money’s worth, and the flax milk, etc. are nice extras.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, you will receive the March box. There is a lot of customization with Buffboxx, so in a given month, someone else’s box contents might not match mine.

Coupon – Use code MSA15 to save 15% off your first Pro box or code MSA15LITE to save 15% off your first Lite box!

Value Breakdown: This box costs $49.99, and I received a total of six products (not including the bonus item) which is an average of $8.33 per item. The three most expensive items together totaled about $60, which is already about $10 over the cost of the box. You get another few dollars in value from the flax milk and Re:Play sample.
