Meowbox February 2018 Review
Meowbox has a lot of exclusive toys that are usually pretty popular with my cats. From my perspective, it’s nice to see some things that don’t turn up in other cat subscription boxes:
The information card typically just gives a URL for finding out more information about the items in the box. The picture is adorable, as usual. This month had a Valentine’s Day theme.
Please note: Many of these items were not available in the Meowbox Shop, so I’ve had to estimate most of the values. When possible, I based the values on similar items from the same manufacturer.
Chocolate “Strawpurry” – Estimated Value $3
This and the item below are exclusive to Meowbox. They’re not yet available in the Meowbox shop, so I’ve estimated the value based on another exclusive Meowbox toy 2-pack from the same manufacturer. These are pretty cute. I love the faces. They’re small – perfect Angus size, in other words – catnip plushes with several interesting fabric textures.
White Chocolate “Strawpurry” – Estimated Value $3
Here is the white chocolate version of the same toy. I like the face on this one, too. (Actually, the faces on pretty much all of the small Meowbox toys are a hoot. I guess it doesn’t take much to amuse me.)
Lips Toy from Crochet Kitty – Retail Value $5
This is a somewhat larger catnip plush. Monkey was a fan of this one. I suspect Angus will find it fascinating, too. Just give him time. (He “discovers” toys like six months after I get them.)
Felted Rose from Le Sharma – Estimated Value $6
This toy is exclusive for Meowbox as well. There is another wool flower in the Meowbox shop from Le Sharma so I’ve used that value here. Mr. Kitty was interested in this (well, he sniffed it, anyway). But this is probably another Angus item. There is a wool holly toy from Le Sharma that we got back in maybe December that is about this size and he drags it downstairs to the living room at least 2-3 times per week. I’m guessing he will feel the same way about this one.
Heart Wand Toy – Estimated Value $10
This isn’t in the Meowbox shop, so I’ve used the value from another wand toy from the same maker. I will never be sad about getting a dangly toy on a stick, even though I have dozens of them by now. You can see this in action below, but basically, there are two ribbons, each connected to a felt heart.
Caledon Farms Beef Liver Bites (0.75 oz) – Estimated Value $2.54
This item is hard to find for sale online (seems to be available at physical stores in Canada, mostly). I found an online deal site offering it for $2.54 (may be Canadian dollars). My cats are not usually into freeze-dried treats but Sneaky was totally hogging these and Monkey, who doesn’t usually want treats, was also a fan.
Gratuitous cat photos ahead:
Once again, Angus wants to play with a wand toy on the stairs.
Madison sniffs a treat.
Madison likes ribbons!
Madison is tired of photo time.
Monkey is not usually food-motivated, but he liked these.
Monkey also enjoys rubbing his chin on things.
Sneaky, of course, thought the treats were great.
And I got her to bite a stick. She hasn’t done that for awhile.
Mr. Kitty didn’t know what was going on. I think I woke him up. (He enjoys getting himself under the covers…)
He did seem interested in this toy, though.
Verdict: I calculated a value of $29.54 for the February Meowbox. I liked the mix of toy types and sizes, as there really was something for everyone this month. The treats were not my cats’ favorite, but everything else was a pretty big hit.
