January 2018 Doki Doki by Japan Crate Review

There’s a pretty pamphlet that comes with this box, and this month’s is all about the Year of the Dog. On the inside, you’ll find the item’s for this month’s Suteki crate, which is a monthly contest, the box theme, which is Puppy New Year, and descriptions of the items inside. Personally, I love the comic that’s on the back panel.

Shiba Mat

I was very surprised to find this in this month’s box but was also immediately charmed. It’s very plush and soft, and would really be good in any room of the house. I could see putting this right underfoot at the side of the bed, making a guest room homier, or putting it out as an adorable welcome mat!

Cinnamoroll Notebook

This super-cute book stars a puppy that can fly by using his little ears! My heart kind of explodes a little when this much cute is nearby. I like that this notebook is a larger size; this would be great for story notes, journal entries, or any kinds of notes where I know I’m going to have a lot to say.

Dog Sponge

This might have been the most squee-worthy item in the entire box! I loved the face of this little Boston Terrier, and then when I realized that this is a super-useful kitchen sponge, I was even more excited to have received it. It’s so cute I almost can’t bear to use it!

Dog Ema

I received the black dog version of this ema, which is a plaque that is hung with the hope that your wishes and prayers will come true. I loved that they included something that has roots in a tradition in Japan; it’s always fun receiving the items in these boxes, but I really love when the items include an element of the culture, too. Plus it’s a super-cute painting!

Dog Plush

I could have received either the dog plush that was included with this box, or a seal, which are sometimes called the “puppies of the ocean”! So stinkin’ cute. I love the dog plush that was included in my box this month. It has really soft fur, and there is something so darn comforting about hugging a stuffed animal, even as an adult. Feeling the love!

Verdict: Puppy New Year, indeed! I loved how useful all of the home items were, like the floor mat and the kitchen sponge, and learning more about Japanese culture with the ema really enhanced the whole experience. Plus, I have a sweet stuffed doggo to cuddle with now!
