January 2018 #feastonthis VNYL Review

It was a 4 vinyl month! It features an absolute classic along with a couple new albums for me.

It comes with a handwritten note from your personal curator. I’ve always found this to be a nice touch – and more than enough info to understand the picks!

You’ll get a vinyl release calendar for the month – I’ve found this to be pretty useful because I’m never fully paying attention these days.

And don’t forget you VNYL and theme sticker!

T-Rex – The Slider

T-Rex is an artist that everyone knows, whether they realize it or not, thanks to Bang A Gong (Get It On) – and while Electric Warrior is great, I’ve always preferred The Slider – so, obviously, I was REALLY excited to find this!

It’s pressed on this gorgeous black and white 180-gram vinyl! The album is, of course, an absolute gem!

White Reaper – White Reaper Does It Again

The remainder of my shipment were new albums for me! The first was from White Reaper.

It came with a large fold-out poster!

The best I can describe this is a bit of a mix of poppy fuzzy music. Maybe a bit like The Strokes with more driving riffs, or even a bit like a fuzzier Cloud Nothings. I think I wanted to like this one more than I did.

Mister Heavenly – Boxing The Moonlight

This is pretty much an Indie Rock supergroup with members from The Shins, The Unicorns, and Man Man.

I loved this purple marble vinyl! Like the previous album, I wanted to like this one more than I actually did – I first thought, this can’t miss – but, it was one that was alright, but probably won’t spin a second time.

Oberhofer – Notalgia

This was a totally unexpected 4th album – and it turned out to be my favorite of the batch I’ve never heard!

This is just a clear plastic case for the 4-song EP.

To match the case, the vinyl is pressed on clear vinyl! All 4 tracks are chalk full of Indie Pop with catchy hooks that stayed in my head for days. This is the one to check out!

Verdict: This month’s VNYL delivery is one of the reasons I love the service – I got an absolute gem of an album and 3 new bands to spin. While I only really loved one of the albums, I’m mostly into this for discovery, so that’s to be expected from time to time.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? This subscription is customized to your music preferences. While you may select the same ‘vibe’ as me, you likely won’t receive the same three albums as I do.
