Ipsy January 2018 Review

This month’s bag features makeup, skincare, and hair products. Let’s see what I got:

Ipsy January 2018 - Info Front

Ipsy January 2018 - Info back

The front of the included card this month gives you a saying to complete, “I will conquer ________.” They then want ask you to post a picture on social media. The text on the back  explains the theme for this month, “Game Face”.

Each month, Ipsy subscribers get a makeup bag in addition to their 5 items.

This month, the bag has a sporty feel with blue mesh and neon yellow and pink reflective materials. Super cute for tossing in your gym bag.

Trust Fund Beauty Lipgasm Lip Scrub, 8ml

Trust Fund Beauty Lipgasm Lip Scrub, 8ml

Trust Fund Beauty Lipgasm Lip Scrub, 8ml – Retail Value $8

This lip scrub smells SO good, like vanilla sugar. It has a good amount of scrubbing power and wipes away easily leaving my lips smooth and ready for lip color.

Alterna Caviar CC Cream 10-in-1 Leave-In Hair Perfector, 25ml

Alterna Caviar CC Cream 10-in-1 Leave-In Hair Perfector, 25ml open

Alterna Caviar CC Cream 10-in-1 Leave-In Hair Perfector, 25ml – Estimated Value $8.78 (Buy a 74 ml tube for $26 or 150 ml tube for $42)

My hair can always use more moisture so I use leave-in conditioners every time I style. This stuff smells great and isn’t too heavy. It does have dimethicone in it, so it won’t work if you are trying to avoid silicones (like in the curly-girl method).

Bellápierre StayPut Brow Gel in Cardamom, 2.3g

Bellápierre StayPut Brow Gel in Cardamom, 2.3g – Retail Value $25

This is a waxy brow gel that fills in and holds brows in place. This shade would be perfect for someone with slightly lighter brows than me. I like the formula but, because it was too light, it wouldn’t blend in and look natural. The built-in brush is a convenient idea.

Dirty Little Secrets Eye Shadow in Bikini, 1.5g

Dirty Little Secrets Eye Shadow in Bikini, 1.5g – Retail Value $12

This eyeshadow is a metallic copper that really has some shine to it. It is easy to blend and has big color payoff. You can see how I used it dry below but with a damp brush, you can get a high foil look.

Ciaté Fierce Flicks Precision Tip Liquid Liner, 1.7ml – Retail Value $19

A felt tip liner with an intense opaque black color. Yes! And, all-day wear with no flaking or smudging.

Swatches of the brow gel, eyeliner, and eyeshadow.

Here is a look with the brow gel, eyeliner, and eyeshadow. I used only the included eyeshadow on my lids and applied it with a dry brush.

Verdict: This Ispy Glam Bag has a value of about $72.78. That is so great for a cost of $10. And, 4 of the 5 products are full-size! I think that is a great way to try new products without much risk. My favorite item is the lip scrub because I have been wanting to try one that isn’t DIY. The brow gel wasn’t the exact shade for me but I liked trying the product type. The bag is cute and feels sturdy too!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, if you sign up in this month, you’ll get next month’s box as your first box. (Check out our Ipsy Spoilers to see what’s coming up next)

Coupon: No coupon currently. (Ipsy doesn’t often offer coupons.)

Value Breakdown: At $10 for this box, here’s what you are paying approximately per item:

  • Lip Scrub – $1.10
  • Hair Cream – $1.21
  • Brow Gel – $3.44
  • Eyeshadow – $1.65
  • Liquid Liner – $2.61
  • Bag – Not counted toward value

Good to know: Ipsy sends out variations. You may get a completely different bag than me.

  1. It’s so strange but every review and unboxing I’ve seen from this month is completely different from what I received! For one thing, I got an organic coffee body scrub which I haven’t seen in anyone else’s bags

  2. I was really disappointed I didn’t get Bellápierre StayPut Brow Gel in Cardamom. Anyone want to sell?

  3. Oooh that lip scrub sounds awesome!

  4. I was pretty disappointed by mine. I got Heavy Cream by Cake Beauty (which is nice but I’m tired of vanilla or coconut haha), the Trust Fund Beauty lip scrub, a Kokie Cosmetics liquid lipstick (in literally the same shade I’ve gotten 3 times in the 4 previous bags), Emma nail polish in a pastel purple (which is really cheap stuff and not my colour at all), and the Mary Lou-manizer from theBalm (which EVERYONE I know got in their bag).

    • I didn’t get that Lou-manizer, but I did get a black eyeliner!

    • Got the same exact bag. And pretty much had the same thoughts as you also

  5. What is on your lips please? So lovely!

    • Thanks, Heather! It is BareMinerals Gen Nude Matte Liquid Lipcolor in Boss.

      • Thank you!

  6. I would have loved to try that brow product, I have very light eyebrows

  7. You have a natural way of just making any kind of makeup look good on you.

    • I agree! Tiffany’s makeup is always so nice.

    • Thanks so much, ladies!

  8. The brow gel looks real good on you!

  9. I have this eyeshadow from ipsy too . Only this was from my very first ipsy bag in October of last year! I love this eyeshadow and looks like u got a lot of goodies☺️ Lucky u, my ipsy bag was far from good 😔 looking gorgeous 😊

  10. You look great! That eyebrow gel is a perfect match

    • I think so too.
