Your Bijoux Box December 2017 Review

This month features sparkly finds from David & Young, Karen Kane (whose pieces I've gotten before in this box), and more.

Violetta Double Strand Necklace

[In my best Stefon-from-SNL-voice:] This necklace has everything. There aren't just rhinestones—there are also tiny silvery-toned pearls hugging the bottom half of each rhinestone. There are even tinier crystals along the top edge of each gem. And because, as they say, the more the merrier, there's not just one sparkling strand in this necklace—there are two! I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked this necklace. It sits at more of a bib level (it's 16 inches long with a 3-inch extender), which makes it pretty versatile. (I can wear it over crew-neck t-shirts, tucked under the collar of button-up blouses, or framed by the scooping neckline of an LBD.

Violetta Earrings

These earrings match the necklace perfectly! The pearls get the enjoy the spotlight in this set. It's taken me awhile to appreciate pearls—they always felt a bit too sophisticated and traditional for my tastes. But I love the fact that these pearls, like the ones on the necklace, have somewhat of a warm silvery (maybe "pewter" is the right word?) sheen to them. And paired with the gunmetal rhinestones they dangle from, they make for a very clean, fresh, modern look that's still got that old Hollywood, New Year's Eve party glitz to it. Just FYI, the little rhinestone "chains" are an inch long, but each whole earring, pearl included, is about 1.5 inches long.

Everbloom Eternity Cocktail Ring by Karen Kane

According to the info card, you could've received either the ivory version of this ring (what I got) or a black version. Ughhh do I ever wish I'd gotten the black one! Like, 75% of my wardrobe is black, and that cool color is just a bit more my vibe than the buttery ivory gem I received. Ah well. I feel like this piece could make a great gift for someone with a sunnier aesthetic than mine, hehe. The gem is a bit cloudy—I wish it was solid or clear. The opening of the ring is about 0.75 inches wide and fits my middle finger well.

Bonus Item - David & Young Scarf

Oh my gooooodness, is this scarf ever soft. It feels like I have the softest (stuffed) animal ever snuggled around my neck. I'm a big fan of scarves and circle scarves in particular. I prefer ones that loop around my neck at least twice, just because they tend to be a good bit warmer. But there's something kind of elegant about the single loop look that I think would be great for wearing to outdoor get-togethers (like ice skating or hanging out in an outdoor winter market—y'know, times when you want to look cute, but not sacrifice warmth).

The Verdict: This month's Your Bijoux Box was cute! It all had kind of a New Year's Eve vibe about it, with all the sparkles and old school glam. I think I'm most excited about the earrings, to be honest, since I see them working into everyday outfits as well as glitzed-up party looks. That and the scarf. I still wish it was bigger (I like my scarves Lenny Kravitz worthy), but I'm excited to work it into different winter outfits!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Usually, this subscription processes orders on the 1st of each month and ships on the 15th, but as of writing this review, the site is still advertising this December box! Hurry and order it while it lasts!

Coupon – Use coupon code WELCOME to get a bonus piece of jewelry with your first box.

Value Breakdown: At $39.99 for this box, the average value of each of the featured pieces, counting the bonus scarf would be about $10.00. Being that the MSRP the info card lists for the ring is $42.00, that's a pretty decent savings!

I really loved everything in the this box. Everything is so perfect for the holidays. I wish I could find a blanket made out of the same material as the scarf! It’s so so soft!

I think the ring would look great with all black clothing, except I’m a little put off by the cloudiness. It looks a little like butterscotch hard candy. Maybe it’s a new style of ring pop. You might try licking it to see. 🧐

LOLLLLLL I totally should try that. You’re right on about it looking like some kind of old timey candy with the swirling yellowish clouds inside. Sooo jealous of MichelleDeG who got the black version!

Thanks for your comment, Rie! I’ll let you know if my RingPop experiment goes well 😉

I love the necklace and that scarf is so soft. I did receive the black version of the ring. It goes well with the set without being too ”matchy”.
