Trunk Club info

So first, a little more about how Trunk Club works: when I signed up, I took a pretty lengthy style questionnaire online. Then I was matched with a stylist who asked me even more about what I like and what I was looking for via an online chat. Based on this information, she selected several items for me to try on at home. She then sent me a link to preview all my items! This month I decided to try everything she selected.

This packet was included in my trunk. The printed materials got a makeover!

The new front of the enclosed booklet now has instructions!

Trunk Club letter

Inside is a note from my stylist, Rebecca. She is so friendly and accessible! She explains a bit about why she chose the items she picked for me.

Trunk Club Invoice

This is my invoice. It lists the items I was sent and the cost to keep each item. My $25 styling fee will be deducted from anything I decide to keep.

UPS return label

These items were also in the packet. When I’ve finished repackaging the items I don’t want to keep in the box, I just put this return label on it and use the tape straps to tape it back up! So convenient!

Treasure & Bond Necklace

Long Link Necklace by Treasure & Bond – Cost to keep $39

This is a first! I have never received jewelry in my Trunk before! Fun! This necklace is totally my style, too. I have necklaces that have “fringe” pendants, but none in silver, and none on such a long chain! I love the chain link pattern, too. (Please see below for pictures of me wearing this with the other items I received.)

Michel Studio Black Dress

Michel Studio closeup

V-Neck Asymmetrical Dress by Michel Studio – Cost to keep $95

What a funky dress! I love all things funky. This viscose blend dress has a little shimmer thanks to the hip patch, and the ruching on the sleeves is also a fun detail. It makes it stand out from regular black dresses. I think the cut is cool, too. It would be perfect for New Year’s Eve!

Glamorous Velvet Dress

Glamorous Velvet Midi Wrap Dress by Glamorous – Cost to keep $119

I love the color of this dress! I wish I was taller so this would actually be a midi dress, but as it stands (or as I stand), it’s an awkward length. It’s also a little big in general and ends up looking a bit like a bathrobe on me. It has a super luxe feel, though, and would be worth the price if it fit better.

NYJD Peasant Top

NYJD Peasant Top back

Mixed Print Peasant Top by NYJD – Cost to keep $98

For the first time ever, I received a piece from NYJD that fits well and that I really like! I like the colors and pattern, and I LOVE the neckline! I am not usually a fan of tops with “yokes,” but this one really works. I just wish it wasn’t polyester, and I wish it wasn’t so spendy!

Treasure&Bond scarf

Crafted Floral Fringe Scarf by Treasure & Bond – Cost to keep $55 (not on Nordstrom’s website)

This is a really pretty acrylic scarf, and it seems well made and of a high quality. It also works well with my overall style, but for some reason, I’m just not in love with it. I guess it’s just not my favorite palette.

Glamorous Floral Empire Waist Dress

Empire Waist Floral Print Dress by Glamorous – Cost to keep $89

It seems odd to get a short sleeved dress this time of year, but I think the print is perfect for winter! It’s so unusual! This dress is a 100% lightweight crepe polyester, and I really like the cut and the fit a lot! It also seems well made. I like the way it feels and looks on me, too.

Long Cozy Two Pocket Side Slit Cardigan by Sejour – Cost to keep $59 (not on Nordstrom’s website)

The cardigan totally makes the dress! These two pieces were made for each other! I absolutely LOVE this cardigan! I have about a million different things to wear it with, too. It’s a very soft but thick jersey knit, and I love the way it feels. It’s nice and cozy, and I also like the way it looks!

Embroidered Bell Sleeve Top by Caslon – Cost to keep $79

I do love unusual pieces, but I think this one might be a little outside my comfort zone. I don’t think I can get behind stripes and embroidery together with attached bell sleeves. I appreciate what they were going for with this cotton blouse, but it’s just not for me.

Lace Yoke Blouse by Sejour

Lace Yoke Blouse by Sejour – Cost to keep $79 (on sale for $52.93!)

This top is so pretty! I love delicate, feminine white blouses, and this one is super delicate! I also love bell sleeves that just gradually flare (as opposed to being attached). The stylish details on this polyester blouse are understated and gorgeous, like the tie at the neck. I love it!

The Verdict: I am a big fan of Trunk Club! This month there were a lot of hits! I think my new stylist is finally getting a good grasp of my style. I love the lace blouse and the printed dress with the cardigan, those were definitely my favorites. I think Trunk Club is a little on the spendy side, but it’s still loads of fun to try all the pieces!

  1. Floral dress, cardigan and possibly necklace are the only pieces that I would recommend for you.

    • I agree; the dress and cardigan were very flattering, and the fit was spot on.

  2. Love the black flowered dress and the cardigan, also the peasant top. The first thing I thought when I saw the Glamorous dress was, “Wow, so they’re sending bathrobes now…”

  3. The pieces are not bad but I think the prices are really high. NYDJ shirts are always clearanced out…who pays full price for polyester?

  4. Love the black dress and the long cardigan for you. The lace blouse is definitely your style. All else is okay. Hope you keep a few things.

    • Thanks Lola!

  5. Great picks! I don’t know what people are talking about with that first black, asymmetrical dress — it’s lovely and it looks great on you! Please keep it! And the peasant top is supa dupa fly!

    • Thanks Christy!
