Winter 2017 SubApollo Review

SubApollo used to have you fill out a short survey when you first subscribe, but they've simplified it to three choices with drop-down menus on the order page.

You'll choose a gender (male, female, or "prefer not to say"), a face shape (narrow, medium, or wide), and your style (open-minded, adventurous, fashion-forward or simplistic) which will help guide them to what styles they choose for you.

Let's see what I got!!

To start things off, they give you a sticker that matches the seasonal box your sunnies come in!

Tortoise and Gold Flat-Lens Cat Eye Sunglasses

I really like tortoise sunglasses, so I was stoked to see these come through.

Tortoise and gold flat lens sunglasses

They have the flat-style lenses that are popular and feature a brown gradient that mellows out the suns rays.

As you can see in this detail, the lenses go past the inner plastic edge of the frames which I think looks unique. They also have gold metal in between the tortoise plastic (as well as the bridge) to give a bit of shininess to this dark pair.

As always, every pair comes with a soft pouch to store them in to cut down on scratches.

Per usual, I kind of like these oversized sunnies better on than I do off. The cat eye gives my usual tomboy look a softer feminine vibe.

White and Silver Round Browline Mirrored Sunglasses

Oh, yea- I like these bad boys. These definitely seem more my style off the bat and mix the classic browline shape with a little aviator twist by using that double bridge.

You'll notice that these also have silver mirrored lenses which is a classic aviator look. These aren't super tinted but do a good job cutting down on the glare that the sun throws at you.

The white plastic and silver wire frames come together on these at the corners of the lenses as well as the bridge. They also have clear plastic nose pads to rest upon.

Here they are, resting on their black pouch that doubles as a lens cloth.

The photo set is so bright, I gotta wear shades...

If you are a three-time subscriber, SubApollo sends you a thank you Starbucks gift card! How nice!

Verdict: SubApollo's winter selection for me included two styles I'm familiar with but with variants that I don't already have. This subscription is a pretty awesome deal (especially if you use our code for 50% off your first box!) since you get 2 pairs of sunnies for $15.00. They aren't as high quality as a designer brand, of course, but these are perfect to keep in the car or take on a snowy hike.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes, as of publication, this box was still available!

You didn’t say which category u picked for your style! I’m wondering because I was thinking of subbing but I’m curious about what you get in which category. I’m thinking u picked fashion forward with the big shape???

I went ahead & subbed! It was a no brained for 7.50$! I love sunglasses so I’m excited to see what I receive, I pick size medium and the simplistic category.
