BH Cosmetics Wild and Radiant Palette - Retail Value $12

This four-color palette is such a powerhouse! I'm not normally one for messing with contouring or bronzers since I like to rock my naturally pale pigment, but these bring a bit of glimmer to my face. A little goes a long way with these tones, so I delicately took my brush and swirled it against my cheekbones where I normally put pale pink blush and was pleased with how it looked! I took a lighter shade and brushed it down my nose to add a bit of a highlight there as well. I'm surprised how much I am into this palette! Excited to experiment further with this one.

Palladio Rice Primer - Retail Value $12 (get it for $10.19, linked)

Primer is a product that I've tried a few times in hopes to get my makeup to stay longer, but I've never really stuck with adding to my beauty regimen. I wasn't expecting much when I squeezed some of this into my paw, but as soon as I smoothed it onto my face, I was in awe! The cream instantly turned into a light powdery dream and it felt like nothing was on my face at all, but it was so soft and lovely!

Manic Panic Lethal Lipstick in Violet Night - Retail Value $15.50

I had no idea that Manic Panic made lipstick, let alone had a full cosmetics line! Every summer, I'd go stay at my Dad's for two weeks (the woes of being a child of divorce), and one of those weeks would be spent visiting his side of the family down in Florida. My Dad was not as strict as my Mom and let me dye my hair with Manic Panic for those two weeks each year. What a guy! I never went purple, but if you look back through family photos with my grandparents, you'll definitely see bright red one year, and blue the next. The favorite wild hair dye from my angsty youth comes back to me in the form of this bright purple hued lipstick.

Here's a swatchy for y'all. I'm not as bold with my lip color these days as I once was with my hair, but this formula was really creamy and glided on smoothly. It's obviously super pigmented, but I'd give it two coats to really get full coverage. It also isn't so dense that it stains your lips though, which I like.

RickyCare Travel Eyelash Curler in Pink - Retail Value $9.99

The next item is from the house brand, RickyCare. This pink plastic eyelash curler condenses the most awkward of beauty tools into something you can easily toss in your travel bag. All you have to do is pop the lever from the back and depress the rubber pad against the top of the tool to curl those lashes. It's a little tricky to see what you're doing compared to the leaner full-size metal eyelash curlers, but after a little adjusting, it's easy. I also really like that it comes with an extra pad that fits into the bottom!

Maybelline Mega Plush Volum' Express Mascara - Retail Value $9.99

Say what you will about drugstore brand mascara, but I live for it! I've totally used this one before and like to try whatever is new each time I buy the next one. This one isn't new, but using it again made me remember that it's AWESOME. The fat brush really makes my lashes pop and stand out. The flexible joint in the middle of the wand also allows movement while being gentle on your lashes. Highly recommended at such a good price.

Verdict: Ricky’s NYC Cult Crushes is blowing my mind again this month! You almost get your money's worth with ONE of these products, but instead, you get FIVE! This has shot up to the top of my list of fave beauty boxes already, based on the value and the super fun products that so far seem geared toward the wackier makeup addict. For just $11 (with free shipping), I got $59.50 worth of beauty products!! FIFTY-NINE DOLLARS, you gals!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Not for this one, but you have until the 25th of each month to sign up for that month’s box. Once subscribed, your reoccurring payment will happen on the 5th of each month. You can pause or cancel your subscription at any time.

  • Contour Palette: $2.16
  • Primer: $2.16
  • Lipstick: $2.79
  • Eyelash Curler: $1.80

I just got my first box and OMG…I also added some items I usually pay more for at Ulta.
I received a 6.1 oz of Body Butter and a beautiful eye shadow color in a pod. And also a Frankie Rose lip gloss plus samples of glamglow x2, Jean Carter solution complex 4, NYX Matte Lipstick in Forbidden, Bioderma Sebium H2o……….Pretty happy.

wow I wonder if mine was missing things… I don’t think i got the Nyx Lipstick in mine, but I did get the Body Butter, the Frankie Rose lip gloss, the eye shadow and the two tiny foil packet samples…

Huh, may have to try this one. Does anyone know what the proportion of cruelty free items is, typically? Looks decent this month as an example, aside from the Maybelline.

Oh wow, if I’d known this was such an incredible deal I would’ve subscribed a long time ago! I love this kind of stuff. Thanks for your reviews, Marne!!

Shopping in Ricky’s is like a wonderland – they always have cool brands, interesting theatrical cosmetics, everything! I’m going to have to cut something, I really want this sub, great value. Best of all no crazy “you’ll get either this or this” don’t like the guessing game anymore! Glad I didn’t start this month, I love BH I have too many palettes of theirs I’ve never touched (time to sell), other stuff, meh. Hope to start in December! Btw Marne loved your story! I was one of the original MP gang. You’d love the stories! Everywhere I worked was like a big mishmash family, we all knew each other, famous or not, great, fun times! 😘💖🦇⚡️Jet

I’m loving my blue Pulp Riot mermaid hair now, but I was a 90s Manic Panic college kid, too!

What a great value!

I decided to order this sub for my teenage daughter based on your last review and boy was she happy with this month. Her comment referred to the fact that while she still loved her Ipsy sub, this one had all full-sized products, whereas that isn’t always the case with Ipsy. There isn’t the customization here that they have but all of the products this month will get used on the regular.

Gracie

I don’t think Maybelline is cruelty-free. Boo.

Sara

I subbed the month with the large z palette it was awesome! This months was just ok for me since the palette is a little too dark for me.

Laura

Maybe use it for eyeshadow! Another person in the comments is!

I signed up! The Dec box will come shortly I think. Yay! I may have to cancel Nylon box because of this additional sub though…

Lola

This really is a fun sub. Most months are great but they had a couple disappointing months during the summer. I have found that I use most of the products that come in this sub. And the price is great with a good value. If you ship in their store you will see they have tons of stuff from premium brands to drugstore brands so you never know what you will get.

Wow this is like a drugstore version of boxy charm ! How did I not know about this ! Lol

Was just thinking that! How have I been sleeping on this box? Looks like a winner.

I love this sub. I’ve been using the Palette for eyeshadow. I really like the primer I can’t wait for this months box. This is a fun sub.

I was disappointed to receive the Maybelline mascara in the box. It isn’t in keeping with the promise of “cult” favorite items.

I am always happy with the RickyCare items included in the box — they never feel like promotional items thrown in to toot their own horn. This month is the perfect example: a lash curler makes perfect sense in a box featuring mascara. (And I’ve personally never owned a lash curler at all, so I was happy to get it.)

Michelle

I have to disagree. Maybelline is definitely a cult favorite.

I’d have to agree, I just started subbing two months ago to this but it really is a hidden gem.
🙂 While Ipsy and the other $10 boxes are nice and all this one has them beat lately. lol I am so beyond overloaded with beauty subs but I cringe to think of cancelling this one just yet. lol So I cancelled Sephora.

Marne,, LOVE your reviews by the way! You seem to have a similar sense of humor as I do so i find your comments entertaining.

Agree – Marne is the best of the MSA reviewers, in my opinion, since she’s not afraid to say something less than flattering about a product or sub if it’s the truth.
