Pet Treater Cat Pack December 2017 Review

Pet Treater Cat Pack December 2017 Booklet Front

Pet Treater Cat Pack December 2017 Booklet back

There’s not a traditional information card with this subscription, but you get a couple of other inserts relating to themes, products, sharing on social media, etc.

Kathy Ireland Catnip Tin with Catnip

Kathy Ireland Catnip Tin with Catnip (1 oz) – Retail Value $11.75

These have been on Overstock.com since at least last year, so the catnip is kind of old, but it was sealed well enough that it did get a reaction from my cats when I used it to refresh a scratch pad. I like the idea of storing catnip in a tin, which seems less messy than a baggie, too.

Emerald Pet Feline Dental Treats

Emerald Pet Feline Dental Treats (turducky flavor, 3 oz) – Retail Value $4.49

These are crunchy treats. Angus understands how to eat them (he actually chewed them up into little bits and then ate the bits) but Sneaky tries to swallow them whole and almost chokes. I think Angus will be getting the rest of these. (Madison also liked them fairly well.) This is a product that shows up fairly regularly in cat subscription boxes.

Bare Bites Beef Liver

Bare Bites Beef Liver (2 oz) – Retail Value $9.99

I like the *idea* of single-ingredient treats (these are beef liver) but this was not a good choice for cats. They are squares several mm thick and 1-2 inches on a side and they are difficult to break (with semi-sharp edges) and they are just not something my cats could figure out how to eat. Sneaky and Madison got quite frustrated because they could smell these but not chew them. (These are also marketed for dogs and they are way more suitable as a dog treat.)

Best Pet Supplies Mouse Toy 2-Pack

Best Pet Supplies Mouse Toy 2-Pack – Retail Value $2.99

These are mouse toys that are somewhat on the larger side. Madison was fascinated with their tails and Angus batted one of them all around. (Angus seemed to prefer these as interactive toys so I had to watch my hands so I didn’t get scratched!)

Bergan Whirly Pop

Bergan Whirly Pop – Retail Value $4.99 (on sale for $3.99)

I couldn’t get anyone to play with this for photos, but later at night, when the camera was put away, Sneaky started gnawing on the rubber part of this, which was just hilarious to watch. (Sneaky does enjoy biting rubber and silicone things.)

Gratuitous cat photos…

Angus liked the fish treats.

And he was in the mood to play with these mouse toys, too.

Madison sniffed the beef liver treats but didn’t know what to do with them, in the end.

Madison understood these treats perfectly, though.

Monkey is skeptical.

Sneaky really wanted to eat this, but she couldn’t figure out how to.

The fish treats were easier for her, though.

And Mr. Kitty’s appearances in cat subscription reviews will be sporadic for a bit longer. He’s still got about a week and a half in the cone (at least). But he is improving every day!

Verdict: I calculated a value of $34.21 for the December Pet Treater Cat Pack. That’s quite a respectable value for a $12.99 cat subscription box, and a little bit higher than last month. The beef liver treats were a bit of a failure, but the other treats were well-liked, as were the toys.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, you’d receive January’s package as your first shipment.

Value Breakdown: At $12.99 per month for this subscription, you are paying approximately the following per item:

  • Fish-shaped dental treats $1.70
  • Dehydrated beef liver $3.79
  • Mouse toy 2-pack $1.14
  • Whirly pop toy $1.89

SCAM! I subscribed to this for my brother for a Christmas present. They took the money out over 3 weeks ago. I’ve emailed them 3 times and no answer. Called and the “mailbox is full” Sorry to write this but this is no way to run a business. No reply, no cat box and money is out of my account for 3 weeks.. Tracking shows it hasn’t left. Same tracking as 3 weeks ago.

I’m right there with you Barbara. I signed up on the 5th after receiving an introductory offer email. I’m on their list apparently. I received the “Shipped” email on the 10th and zero movement of the pkg since. And it’s some odd, 3rd party tracking system, which is annoying as hell as far as I’m concerned. It’s Jan 23rd and I sent them an inquiry email. Received an automated reply, “We’re real busy but will get to you asap.” I’m not holding my breath. If something is going to take 3 weeks to ship, then Say So! Don’t send some useless email to try & placate us. I’m trying to fiugure out how to unsubscribe before they charge me for Febuary.
*I’ll be sure to update this if/when I get the pkg.*

Great review & pics Ragan & I hope Mr Kitty is on the mend. 😍

I broke up the liver treats into small pieces, and one of my cats ate them… then promptly threw it up on the carpet. Definitely a miss for us.

My younger cat does love that Bergan Whirly Pop thing. It rolls surprisingly well on carpet, and the tail moves in a creepily realistic way, and she loves chasing it all over the place.

Well I’ll be glad their sending some cat nip cause I’m in Desperate need for a cat nip right now and I am disappointed though that the treats are dog treats and not cat treats that’s just kind of ridiculous! I also wish that the toys they sent you could put catnip in them Those are always a hit and lastly the dental treats of course the kitties can always use them. Glad to hear mr kitty is healing nicely & only has a lil bit before the cone comes off, he has been missed!
And as always I love reading your reviews and knowing I’m not the only one with a house full of kitties!! Overall I think I’ll be happy with this months box Because last month all I wanted was some toys and catnip and that’s exactly what we’re getting this month so that’s really cool

There should be a picture of Mr. Kitty in the Pet Gift Box review in the next day or two. He is still in the cone for another week, I think, and not playing with any of the toys, I just wanted to share a picture.
