Erin Condren "Season of Celebrating" Seasonal Surprise Box Winter 2017 Review

The year might be ending, but for planner and stationery lovers, the fun is just beginning! This box promises to help me get a jump on 2018 with oodles of new year desk accessories and supplies, plus some holiday goodies, too:

Here's the info card that came with the box. The theme is "Season of Celebrating". I have friends and family members who celebrate all sorts of winter holidays, so I'm always happy when boxes this time of year go broad, rather than being very Christmas-themed.

Sneak Peek PetitePlanner Gratitude Journal - Retail Value $12.00

As someone who is terrible at journaling, I am very thankful for the setup of this little book. (In other words, I have gratitude for this gratitude journal.) Each spread is divided into small sections with prompts like "silly things that happened today" and "things I created today". It takes away the pressure of the big blank page and not knowing where to start (which is always me, like, every time I decide to start a journal). Plus it's super colorful and even has metallic cherry blossoms stamped on the outside, which makes it all the more exciting to reach for after a busy day.

Sneak Peek Reversible Quote Tabletop 2018 Calendar - Retail Value $18.00

I know it's still December, but this calendar is already living on the corner of my desk and getting me quite excited for the upcoming year. Each of the twelve 5" x 3.5" cards has the month printed on the front side and an inspiring saying or quote on the back. Each month has its own color scheme, too—the colors on the calendar side of the card match the watercolor-like background of the quote side. Even better, the dappled colors on the calendar sides are actually metallic, which scores huge points with me. (Give me ALL the shiny things, please.) January's color is a gorgeous teal blue, and the saying is "Trust the magic of new beginnings." I stacked the cards up in their clear base so that when a new month comes along, the saying will be facing me first. I figure that way, I'll always have a little mantra in my head before I flip the card around to reveal the calendar and start my month.

Sneak Peek All Occasion Gift Wrap Book - Retail Value $20.00

I don't have the most extensive knowledge around the gift-wrap end of stationery. When I need something to package up a present, I usually pop by the gift shop up the street from me and nab a few sheets of paper, or else grab a tube and some ribbon at Target. If that's more your niche, then maybe this item isn't as revelatory. But for me?

Wow. I mean WOW! What a GOOD idea!!! I'm literally so happy with this kit. It looks like a notebook, but inside are folded sheets of wrapping paper, stickers and gift labels, greeting cards you can tear out, bend, and send... literally everything I'd want for a myriad of occasions all year long. The backs of some of the pages even have images of crafts and packaging inspiration to help give me ideas of how to use all the goodies inside. As someone who is ALWAYS last-minute about gifts and wrapping especially, this neat and tidy, slide-it-in-the-desk-drawer-until-I-need-it book of supplies is soooo appreciated. And again, it's REALLY CUTE. There are tons of colors and patterns (some of which are a little more romantic or pretty, but a few that are relatively unisex) and plenty of metallic accents. (Woohoo!)

Exclusive Holiday Sticker Sheet - Estimated Value $3.00

This 8" x 6.25" sheet is apparently an example of the festive designs you'll find in the new Erin Condren Monthly Sticker Book. Since I don't think that exists yet, I'm going to go ahead and assume the value of this single sheet is worth about $3.00 (the price for other single Erin Condren sticker sheets). I like that this sheet encompasses a few months' worth of holidays—there are some more Christmassy designs, some general winter ones, New Years Eve stickers, and even a few Valentine's Day designs. (Holy cow, I can't believe it's going to be Valentine's Day again!) Once again, I'm loving the metallics here. There are silvery details and some pops of rosy gold, too.

Exclusive Holiday Metallics Gift Labels Set, 4 Sheets - Estimated Value $10.00

This pack is pretty similar to this set I found on the Erin Condren site, so I'm guessing that the value is around the same. I'm digging the deep tones in these gift tags. I feel like they're kind of unconventional as far as holiday colors go (especially the pink ones), which I dig. You do get some traditional Christmas colors, like the true red and forest green labels, in case that's more up your alley. They have a paper-like finish that's pen-friendly, but the metallic accents keep 'em from looking too simple. So you get form AND function with these festive labels!

Exclusive Valentine's Day Card Duo - Estimated Value $3.00?

These are another exclusive, so I'm not 100% certain on the value. Other folded cards on the site shop go for about $1.50 each, so I listed that price above. But I'm not sure that those cards come with seals like these do... Regardless, these cards are so cute! They're listed as valentines, but being that they're blank inside, they could easily work for winter holidays, birthdays, or any occasion through the year. I think the crystal one is my favorite, just because the combo of lilac and silver is so pretty. Part of me wants to just frame these cards and give them as presents, rather than just cards. They're so pretty, I'd hate for them to get tossed or stuffed in a drawer once they've been opened!

The Verdict: I loooooved this Erin Condren Seasonal Surprise Box! The new year is one of my favorite occasions for refreshing my stationery, planners... the whole nine yards. So I really liked that this box played into that excitement with items like the desk calendar and the gratitude journal. And how genius is that gift wrap kit?! In 2017, I always had to run to the store last minute for gift wrap or a bag, but in 2018? Pshhh. I've got a whole slew of great gift gear in one handy-dandy folder! Look out, holidays! I'm ready for ya!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No—unfortunately, this box is already sold out!

Value Breakdown: I paid $35.00 for this box (hooray for free US shipping!), but I estimate that I got about $66.00 worth of value out of it. That tops the $60.00 value they guarantee for the box and is almost double the cost. Granted, that's partially based on estimated values, since there were lots of exclusives. But the items that I could find exact retail values for top $50.00 all by themselves. Plus, the average price paid for each item, based on the price of the box, is just $5.83—not a bad deal!
