Smarties
There are always loose candies in the box when you open it that are random each month. This time, it's Smarties, which I can't say is a childhood favorite, but definitely a staple none-the-less. Every Halloween, someone was passing these powdery pucks out instead of chocolate and it was always a bummer. I've come to appreciate them as I've grown, but these were never looked forward to by anyone I knew on October 31st.
Dorval Sour Power Watermelon Belts
The first tub of candy I received this month (which was randomized instead of chosen) is full of sour watermelon "belts". I've gotten these a few times before in other flavors and HOLY MACKERAL are they sour. These are certainly not for the faint of heart because you will be knocked onto your butt with these. I brought them over to my friend Ash's house the other night to snack on while we watched movies and her eyes lit up like a dang Christmas tree. The sour didn't seem to bother her at all (since she kept going back for more) even though her wincing puckered face told a different story. I just had a thought. It'd be fun to offer these up to a friend without the sour warning that should be prefaced. Muhahaha.
Chocolate Drizzled Caramel Corn
I can really get down with caramel corn, and one better: this kind is drizzled in chocolate! The popcorn coated in sugary goodness kept its fluffiness and seemed pretty fresh to me. I usually can't do too much of one decadent treat at a time, but this caramel corn has me thinking I can crush this container easily. I also think this is a nice wintery treat and can picture myself with some afternoon coffee on a lazy weekend gobbling this down while under a blanket watching Netflix.
Assorted Jelly Bellies
Jelly Bellies just plain rule. Everyone has their favorites and their least faves, but I really think there is a flavor for all. If you've read some of my past Candy Club reviews, you know I am obsessed with the buttered popcorn flavored ones, which make an appearance in this mix. There are also cinnamon, juicy pear (another fave of mine), peach, tutti frutti, toasted marshmallow and more! It's always just so fun to eat them one by one and try to guess the flavor.
Verdict: Candy Club sent me three pounds of candy at random this month and it turned out pretty good for me! I liked everything I received and liked that there was a little variety of sour, jelly beans, and caramel corn offerings. The cost works out to be almost $13 per pound including the shipping costs, so it's really about the convenience and/or surprise of receiving new candies each month more than a value standpoint for me.
