This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

This month's box is about making the most of the waning days of summer, and getting outdoors for sunlight and cookouts!

Now, on to the items!

Dirocco Carbon Fiber Sunglasses - Retail Value $390?

(These glasses were made exclusively for Robb Vices subscribers, so I'm guessing on value based on other Dirocco sunglasses.)

Each frame is handcrafted out of pure titanium and plated with 18-karat white gold with a satin finish. Even the nose pads are special! They are titanium with a laser etched logotype. And the shades are accented with "glacier-style pure carbon fiber side panels."

I'm all about the aviator look, and I love how these don't have the typical nose bar. The gunmetal silver coloring is fab, too. All in all, these just look cool!

Here they are on:

(Excuse my end-of-the-day hair!)

And Robb Vices included this coupon code offer to share with a friend:

Use coupon code SUNSHINE to get these sunglasses for free with a 3-month subscription. (Robb Vices OKed us posting this coupon.)

Lillie's Q Ivory Northern Alabama Style Sauce - Value $8

We have quite a few BBQ fans at MSA HQ, so we had a taste test with these sauces!

This is the sauce of the vinegar lover. It's tangy, slightly peppery, and there is a barely detectable touch of cayenne. (And it isn't spicy.)

Robb Vices recommends using this on pulled pork sandwiches, or as a dip for fried okra or french fries, or as a dressing for coleslaw. (Lacey recommended using it as a light finishing sauce to brush on grilled chicken, too!)

Lillie's Q Gold South Carolina Mustard - Value $8

We didn't read the ingredients before testing this and were confused that it tasted kind of "ketchupy." Turns out, ketchup is the 4th ingredient. This is mustard and ketchup combined into one tangy, peppery sauce!

It's a little sweet, and it has lots of noticeable spices, but it isn't hot spicy.

Robb Vices recommends using this as a glaze for chicken or shrimp. Or this works well with pulled pork, too!

Kozlik's Canadian Mustard Horseradish Mustard - Value $6

This is the horseradish lover's mustard! The horseradish provides a bite, and a kick of heat, too. But the heat dissipates quickly.

Robb Vices recommends using this for everything from roast beef to grilled vegetables. Or try adding it to a BBQ sauce.

And Sarah thought it would be great on a Rueben sandwich!

Hello Sunshine Natural Mineral Sunscreen - Value $22

This zinc oxide sunscreen is free of nano particles and provides SPF 30 protection and 80 minutes of water resistance. It's free of preservatives and fragrance, and my favorite part is the finish. I'm used to most sunscreens having a bit of a shiny finish/feel, but this dries completely matte.

Verdict: While this box has a bit of a summer vibe thanks to the sunshine theme, all the products are useable year round. The sauces and mustard are a nice gourmet addition to our fridge, the sunscreen is always needed, and the sunglasses are just so damn cool! And I don't normally expect a fashion accessory from Robb Vices, so they were a fun surprise, too!

Value-wise, this box comes in at about $434 - amazing for a $89.95 box!

Can anyone who has the sunglasses tell me the measurement of the lens from top to bottom? I’m trying to figure out if they will be too big for my face.

Still no tracking info or shipping notification. I will be reaching out to C.S. today.
I hate to hound them, but they leave me little choice. This is ridiculous!

Robb Vices does not ship to Alabama, but your reviews never list that. Can you please start adding AL to ND/UT? I get bummed every time I go to their site thinking it’s changed.

you’re not missing much. Save yourself the trouble and look elsewhere.

Robb Vices was started as a high end box for those who subscribe to and enjoy the Robb Report – which is geared masculine. Think of PSMH and FFF as the Vogue/Womens Health/InStyle crowd – and Robb Vices as the Food & Wine/Cigar Aficionado/Car & Driver/Travel + Leisure crowd.

If you Google the CEO Daniel Curtis (whose father co-owns Robb Report Media) you will find an interview with him on Cheddar TV and get a firsthand idea of what drives the curation of this subscription.

Hope this helps some who are wondering if this subscription is for them – or when deciding to give as a gift. Cheers!

I don’t think women are the target demographic for this box.. despite what they advertise (hello it’s a subscription box, u think they’re going to tell women it’s not geared towards them??). The majority of the hero items are alcohol or food related. The best box they had was the one that included speakers. That or the one that had fitness related items women’s liked, but that is not the norm for them. I just think women will be disappointed in the long run with this box.p, especially for $90 a pop.. plus shipping? Personally tacking on shipping to a $90 box comes across as tacky to me. Its obvious that women are the majority who subscribe to sub boxes, so I think RV will have to either start chartering more towards women if they want to grow their subscribers, or make a box for women and a box for men.

I still do not have any shipment or tracking information for the (2) August boxes I ordered using the Gilt coupon. I checked FedEx site and nothing is listed there either. I’m really bummed.

Ashley

Same here. I just re-emailed them because its been 11 days since they previously told me boxes just started shipping out and that I should get notification shortly..

Glasses with nosepads leave marks on my face. So their laser etched logo would be branded onto my face if I wear them for a long time?? Just no…

Sending sunscreen and sunglasses in September is a slap in the face. They claimed this box would be great for Labor Day… which is impossible when it arrives post Labor Day and improbable with the contents.
Customer service responded quickly, but with their hands tied behind their back. This does not befit the brand they represent and makes me wish I never learned about it.

Anna

Mine arrived the Friday before Labor Day and I love everything in the box. Especially the sunglasses — they look and feel so luxe! The sauces are delicious–great for barbecue. I really didn’t need any more sunscreen (I have stockpiles), but I tried this one and really liked the texture, so I will use it for sure. Overall, I think this was a perfect end-of-summer box and probably my favorite from RV so far (started my sub in April).

Alex

I love mine too! You can always swap or sell the glasses and make up way more than the price of the box

I’m surprised the hero item for this August box is something that has to do with style because everyone has their own. I know what I’m trying to say and I’m not sure I said it correctly. I am one who got the deal on Gilt for one box plus a past one too. For some reason I waited and put my order in for the Sept box instead… I would of been heartbroken with this box but my hubby would of loved it. This box is more manly for the most part anyway, or from my point of view. I did email CS to ask what box would be my extra box because some were saying it was gonna me the March box and that if it was possible to get a different one because hot is hot is not our thing and that I had recieved Dec 2016 and Jan 2017 already. They replied saying that they mix the box up and that it’s a mystery and can’t be picked.Oh and that I won’t get my extra box for 3 to 4 months after I put in my order. That would be funny getting it in Jan because I only am getting Sept. Anyway who know’s. Hey if I don’t care for either for my boxes that are coming and someone would like to switch one for another… Lol it could be awhile…

Robb Vices has handled the August box delay horribly! Several customers have not even recieved shipping notices, and when contacting customer service, all they say is it will ship soon and you’ll be thrilled with the contents of the box, even though it’s no longer a surprise for anyone who hasn’t received it! Then, when I posted on Instagram to get some answers on what the hold up was and how they have been so vague to customers and lied about when the box would ship they deleted my comment instead of replying! I understand there are things that the company cannot control like the hold up in customs, however, there is a better way to handle the issue! Do not lie to your customers that the boxes will be delivered for Labor Day, and now it’s a week into September and still no shipment? There is also rumors that they didn’t receive enough inventory to fill the orders with the first hold up in customs and now they are waiting for more sunglasses to send out. Instead of being honest with customers and offering the option to select a previous month box, they just keep telling customers to be patient. For pre-paying hundreds of dollars for a 3 month subscription I expected better service.

Reply ButtonReply

h

Exactly! There is nothing to put on eBay to sell or swap for some people. There was nothing to put in the refrigerator or to have enjoyed for the Labor Day festivities for some people.

Very sorry to read that they deleted your query about your pre-paid box. I know it’s the situation for my friends, so I don’t have reason to doubt that you’re also telling the truth.

Would Gilt be able to help in a situation like this, where they haven’t delivered the product, when you have written emails stating that they were shipping on specific days?

Reply ButtonReply

Michelle

I didn’t even order through the Gilt deal! I heard about it on the radio and was excited to give a 3 month subscription as a gift, but that birthday was in August and I was stuck with nothing at all to give because customer service kept saying it would ship by the end of the month! I’m just trying to cancel and get my money back at this point but they are giving me such a hard time. They aren’t replying to anything I send them, so I’m going to file a disputed through my bank and see if that does anything. I know I can’t be the only person beyond frustrated about the service.

Beth

The sunscreen has goats milk in it!

I just subscribed for a month as a birthday gift to myself, because the past boxes have all been so appealing to me… August will be the one I get, and I’m so disappointed that this was the one I’ll end up with. The glasses don’t suit me in the slightest, and my husband only buys $20 sunnies because he destroys them. Oh, and I don’t eat meat so BBQ sauce isn’t high on my list. Of all the RV boxes I saw, this seems the most masculine to me so it was an expensive failure of a birthday gift on my part… and was delayed so came late anyway! I’m hoping I can sell or trade the glasses because otherwise I have $90 sunscreen!

I recommended this subscription to a friend and they still haven’t received tracking information or any clue when their turn will be. Their frustration is understandable. This box has so much to offer that I just wish that they would send it.

Reply ButtonReply

Alex

I’m thrilled! 🤗 The glasses are beautifully crafted. They look good in me and the fiancée. I feel like they could be easily sold on eBay make up for the RV of the box if they don’t suit you.

The mustards are going to be so much fun to try out! It’s still hot in Southern CA so I can grill and taste test. Or I can use them as marinades for cooking or as dipping sauces or garnishes.

I hope everyone likes the box and if not Happy swapping or happy selling on eBay ☺️

Reply ButtonReply

Chanell

That’s actually a very great suggestion for those that aren’t happy with the box. Sell the glasses to recoup the cost of the box and the assorted sauces and condiments could always be gifted at a BBQ to a host or lunch gathering, I;d even throw in the pricey sunscreen with a bow. 🙂

Reply ButtonReply

Alex

I love the sunscreen. I tried it today and it is the most quick absorbing, matte formula! I can finally get my fiancé to wear sunblock on the daily.

Colleen

I lusted after this sub for over a year before finally subscribing in April. I lucked out on the speaker and headphones that moth, but every one since has been a bust for me. Unfortunately these glasses don’t flatter my face and I wear RX sunglasses any way. Hoping RV has better months ahead or I may just save my money each month or participate in the flash sales and mystery boxes other subs release. Anyone feeling these glasses? I’m happy to consider swapping in your favor.

Reply ButtonReply

Zo

April was my first month as well. September is my last month of 6 months and I cancelled. April was my favorite box but everything else was a bust for me as well. I was able to swap my whiskey box for the spicy March box so that made 2 good boxes for me. I liked the Stelle speaker so much that I bought another one from ebay and got it for a steal of only $70. Made me realize that I could have saved all this money and just bought what I wanted from ebay. Of course now that I’ve cancelled my sub the boxes will be more my taste.
I’m hoping Breo box is a good substitute for me. I loved the last box.

Liz,

If I sign up for the month-to-month option will this be my first box?

Thank You!

Liz Cadman

I believe September will be your first month. Hope that helps!

Reply ButtonReply

Tanya

Well, I’m bummed I got the box. Oh well. Hopefully next month is better!

Reply ButtonReply

So neat to see Lillie’s featured in the box! I used to live a block from the restaurant before moving away from Chicago. The owner is a great guy and their food is amazing. Fun glimpse of home!

Reply ButtonReply

Jamie

I’ve been really considering signing up for this subscription, especially this month with the coupon. However, I’m really glad I saved my money instead. The sunglasses look cute you, Liz, but they would not suit me at all. Also, I know you should wear sunnies all year long, especially while driving, but they seem like such a lame item thIs late into the summer. I would be disappointed to have spent $80 on this.

Lots of subscribers seem pleased with this box, though, so I think I’m probably just not the target demographic.

Reply ButtonReply

AmyM

I shouldn’t have read this before eating dinner. Now I want grilled shrimp, chicken, pulled pork and Rueben sandwiches!

Reply ButtonReply

Judy

Liz! Those sunnies look absolutely fabulous on you! P.s. Your hair looks fab as well! Wish my end of day hair looked like that!

Kristin

I wish my beginning of the day hair looked like that! 😂

Aw, thank you, Judy!! 🙂

Hhhmm… So glad I’m not getting this box. I don’t really care for anything in it at all.

I still haven’t received my shipping notification for august. 😢

I’m in Washington and still have not seen any tracking updates. I was one of the ones who used the Gilt City offer

I am in Southern California about 50 miles from where the boxes ship out and haven’t received my box yet. Shipping noticed finally arrived yesterday and I’m hoping to get the box tomorrow. What was frustrating this month was their email saying the boxes would ship out Monday (meaning August 28th). What they failed to mention or clarify is that the boxes ship out in waves. So they should have said that the boxes would begin shipping and then list the wave dates. I was bummed that they mentioned that the August box was meant for Labor Day weekend activities but didn’t ship mine out until after the holiday. Ah well, at least I get spoilers before the box arrives this time. Hope you get your shipping notice soon!

Reply ButtonReply

Alex

Im in LA and got my box tonight at 8:30. I hope you two gets yours ASAP 🤗

Wendy

Certainly a great subscription in general but the glasses for this month account for 90% of this months total value. The glasses are nice but it really has to suit an individual’s preference and style. Not really a one size fits all item.

Reply ButtonReply

TK

Agreed, the glasses don’t look as great on everyone as they do on Liz. She looks super cool. My 50 year old husband not so much. But…my 15 year old son lucked out and got them. This box is a great discovery box for the whole family!!
