September’s Nomadik Challenge was to go somewhere new and feature this month’s products to compete for a surprise bundle with a $50 value!

Opinel No. 7 Stainless Steel Locking Pocket Knife – Retail Value $14.49 (Listed value $17)

Up first this month we have this beautiful, lightweight classic knife from Opinel! Opinel has been manufacturing knives since 1890, and the No. 7 is one of their most timeless designs. The locking mechanism is just a little twisting band at the end of the handle. The wooden handles are really handsome and fit nicely into my palm. This seems like a perfect knife for general use around a campsite: creating tinder, whittling, minor food prep, etc.

FixNZip Zipper Replacement – Retail Value $10.99

Next this month we get this helpful zipper replacement kit. I’ve had zippers break on me before and it seems like it’s always at the worst time. This kit is quick and easy to install and comes with 2 options for pulls - a key ring or a nylon loop. I tested this on a broken duffel zipper and it worked fine. The FixNZip comes in several sizes, and finding the size you need is simple. I’ll definitely be keeping them in mind for those inevitable future zipper issues.

Munkees Waterproof Capsule - Large – Retail Value $8.60

In one of those serendipitous subscription box moments, I was literally looking for a waterproof keychain capsule for some earplugs when this box showed up and solved my problem for me! This capsule from Munkees has an o-ring at the center to keep the contents safe and dry. It’s a little large for a keyring, but it’ll easily hold earplugs, a couple of aspirin, cough drops, you name it. I was able to squeeze a set of earbuds in here no problem, and I think keeping them in here will save them from getting all knotted up.

NiteIze Geartie Clippable 12" Twist Tie – Retail Value $4.49

I’ve received items from NiteIze in the past and they are always super helpful, and this twist tie is no exception. One end of the twist tie has a loop that has a carabiner attached, and the other can be wrapped around a myriad of items. The carabiner is a heavy duty plastic so it’s a bit lighter than a standard aluminum one, and you probably only need a light-duty style for this kind of product anyway. I immediately thought of using this to hang a light or small bag from my hammock ridgeline, and it made me sad to think it may be a few months until I get out camping again!

NiteIze BetterBand 5" Adjustable Stretch Bands – Value $3.89

Finally this month, we have this 2 pack of adjustable bands from NiteIze! These are handy little adjustable bands with a little bit of stretch that keep loose items together easily. They could also be excellent to hang or tie items while camping. For people who don’t want to deal with knots, you could easily just make a lark’s head loop with these easy to use bands.

Verdict: Nomadik was really solid this month. The knife is really classy, and I’m already getting use out of nearly every item. They promise “up to $50 worth” of items in each box, and this month’s value comes out to $42.46, over the $32.95 box cost.  I think the value is there, though if you weren’t going to be using everything it may be a bit of a miss for you.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, you will start with the December box.
