The box came with this information card, which basically directs you to their website. I have to admit, I liked the old brochures more – you could instantly tell which snacks were vegan, gluten free, etc. Now you have to read the tiny print of the ingredients lists, instead…Anyway, there are also usually some coupons and/or product literature. This month there were also subscription deals for Hello Fresh and Book of the Month.

Love with Food Deluxe September 2017 Healthy Food Snack Subscription Box

Bobalu Almonds Seasoned with Tajin (1.8 oz) – Value $1.42 (buy a pack of 24 for $33.99)

As a vegetarian, I get a lot of my protein from nuts. I have had these before, I think from Vegan Cuts, but based on that experience, was happy to receive them again. They are quite spicy but the fat from the nuts helps to moderate the heat a little bit.

Gourmet Center Biscoff (0.2 oz) – Value $0.34 (buy a box of 50 for $16.99)

You see these every now and then in Love with Food. That’s the only place I’ve come across them other than on airplanes. Anyway, this didn’t survive the trip through the mail very well, which is why you don’t see it outside of the package. These are good for something to nibble on if you don’t want to eat a lot of calories.

ThinkThin High Protein Smoothie Mix in Blueberry Banana (1.38 oz) – Value $3.49

This was one of the spoiler items for the month.  I know some people weren’t enthusiastic, but I make smoothies every morning and I use protein powder in them, so I am always happy to get it in subscription boxes (if it is vegetarian, anyway) because then I don’t have to buy it.  This had actual dried blueberries in it, which was a little different.  The blueberry flavor was pretty strong and I noticed it even when mixed with all my other smoothie ingredients.

Monbana Chocolat Salon de The 32% Cacao (1 serving) – Value $1.67

I can’t find this for sale in the US, but we received it in the March 2017 Love with Food box (when it used to be for sale in their shop) so I took the value from there. I am wondering a little bit whether these packets were left over from March (dry hot chocolate powder should last plenty of time). It is OK for hot chocolate but I’m not going to go seeking it out by ordering from Europe.

Barilla Gluten Free Fettucine (12 oz) – Value $1.99

I prefer whole grain pastas (this is not whole grain but includes both corn flour and rice flour) and try to avoid eating refined flours, so this will be going into the pantry for an emergency – we have a gas stove, so pasta can be cooked if the power goes out, for example.  (My personal favorite GF pasta is the Tinkyada brown rice pasta, but usually, I just buy whole wheat pasta because there is no reason for me to eat gluten free.)

Love with Food Deluxe September 2017 Healthy Food Snack Subscription Box

The GFB Gluten Free Balls in Dark Chocolate Coconut (0.8 oz) – Value $1.20 (get a case of 10 for $12)

These are actually pretty good, just little sweet things (about 50 calories each). They held together pretty well and looked more chocolatey on the inside.

Love with Food Deluxe September 2017 Healthy Food Snack Subscription Box

Popcorners in Original White Cheddar (1 oz x 2) – Value $1.75 (buy 40 bags for $35)

I have had these in the kettle corn flavor in other subscription boxes, but I always felt that the texture of these would go better with a savory flavor, so these were nice to try.  (Plus, I love everything dusted with cheez powder.) These are a little different in flavor from your average corn chips and although they could definitely support some weight, the cheddar flavor can totally stand on its own and doesn’t need a dip.

Cinn-Credible Cinnamon Packets (x 2) – Value $0.24 (buy 100 packets for $11.99)

At first, I was like, who needs little packets of cinnamon? And then I remembered the last time I tried to shake some cinnamon from the big shaker out on my oatmeal, where I ended up with a mixture of approximately 50% cinnamon and 50% oats. So these are actually perfect for me – I am able to add a little flavor but not make something totally unpalatable.

Orange Saltwater Taffy – Value $0.20 (buy 75 pieces for $14.99)

Vanilla Saltwater Taffy – Value $0.20 (buy 75 pieces for $14.99)

I’m a fan of saltwater taffy. I ate the orange one and my husband had the vanilla and we both thought these were pretty good. Mine was more of an orange cream flavor, which worked quite well with the texture of the candy. These weren’t too sticky and didn’t tug at any dental work, either.

Bali’s Best Tea Candy in Green Tea Latte (x 2) – Value $0.38 (buy 75 for $13.99)

These little guys are a standard inclusion in Love with Food boxes, you’ll see a few of them every couple of months. They actually mostly taste like caramels to me, which is not necessarily a bad thing.

Love with Food Deluxe September 2017 Healthy Food Snack Subscription Box

Harvest Snaps Snapea Crisps, Lightly Salted (0.75 oz) – Value $0.92 (buy 36 bags for $32.98)

Is there anyone out there receiving any snack subscription boxes who hasn’t had these before? I have also bought these in the past (some of the other flavors are good). Anyway, these aren’t really good for you, but they have a satisfying texture and they’re not too high in calories.

Love with Food Deluxe September 2017 Healthy Food Snack Subscription Box

Welch’s Fruit Rolls in Strawberry (0.75 oz) – Value $1.66 (buy 6 rolls for $9.95)

Welch’s Fruit Rolls in Berry (0.75 oz x 2) – Value $3.32 (buy 6 rolls for $9.95)

You’ll usually get one or two items in Love with Food best described as “kid food.” These were pretty sticky; not enough to pull out dental work, but both my husband and I got purple stuff stuck to our hands while we were trying to eat this, so they may be a bit messy for school lunches. These were generically fruity and vegetarian (thickened with pectin). I probably wouldn’t buy them, but they were fun to try.

Verdict: I calculated a value of about $18.78 for the September 2017 Love with Food Deluxe Box. This box always runs a little low compared to the month-to-month subscription price (but they do offer savings for longer-term subscriptions as well as frequent coupon codes), so that is actually a pretty good value for them. I was a little bummed at all the gluten free stuff since I don’t need to eat GF and prefer whole grains to products with refined flours (yes, I know whole grain GF products exist, but that was not the case with this pasta). I was pleased to get a flavor of Popcorners that was something other than the carnival kettle and I do like those almonds. It was a solid month in terms of value but I still had a bit of trouble getting excited over the contents, too.

Ugh! I was not happy with this month’s box. It seemed really sparse and not a good value at all. I feel like they are going downhill so I may cancel very soon. I also got repeat products and haven’t even been subscribed for very long. At this point, I wouldn’t recommend this subscription box to anyone unfortunately.

I just got my first box of the tasting subscription. Super disappointed, very sparse looking and nothing that I can’t find at Kroger. Wasn’t happy with it for $4.50, would have been super upset for regular price.

I haven’t gotten mine yet… waiting is so hard

I find it funny how the regular box had gluten free pasta, yet the actual gluten free box I received didn’t….

I just got my box and I only got one cinnamon (not a big deal). I also didn’t get the pasta of the GFB, instead I got piroulines and a mighty muffin instant muffin cup mix. I actually prefer mine to yours. Why would I want a box of pasta that I get at the grocery store? This is supposed to be all about trying new snacks! Everyone has had or seen barilla.

I usually don’t like protein smoothie powder, but I did try this one and I found it to be creamier and taste much better than most! I would buy this brand again.

I only got one cinnamon(not a big deal). I think the popcorners are a good snack, but they are getting so old in sub boxes. I’ve gotten them in basically any sub box I’ve had that adds snacks. I’m finding myself giving them away to family and friends. I like them but I’m just sick of the same snacks!

I only got one cinnamon packet too (not a big deal for me either). I really like the Popcorners and taffy.

Rachelle

I only got one cinnamon and my protein powder was opened and spilled everywhere. It was quite the mess. 🙂 I enjoyed everything else though.

The GFB bites! I know we got them in popsugar once but I have since purchased other flavored on Amazon pretty recently. I love them. My partner and I eat one before bed as a treat when we have them around because they feel super indulgent when you don’t eat sweets often. Just the perfect amount of sweet with nuts (some flavors are better for sure). They don’t always ship well, but they always taste good!

I didn’t get the pasta, but I did get a bag of lemon puff candies.

Same here!! The candy was really good too!

Hmmm. I’ve noticed LWF has been doing alot of “variations” in both the Deluxe and Tasting boxes over the past few months and don’t recall that ever before. Odd. Also makes me think they are using the opportunity to clean out inventory instead of creating new “curated” boxes. I had a Tasting box sub for a year and purchased a few mystery boxes from the shop and there has been nothing new-to-me in the reviews for the past few months either. Needless to say, I cancelled my sub after it was up. It’s not that I didn’t enjoy the healthy and “different” foods, I was just tired of getting repeats. That’s why I signed up in the first place…because I wanted to try stuff different than I’ve tried before! I don’t need a sub box to introduce me to Welch’s fruit rolls and Barilla fettuccine.

Same here. I didn’t get the pasta or the GFB bites. Instead I got the Lemon Puff candies and a pack of chocolate pirulin.
