GlossyBox is a monthly beauty subscription box. In addition to their subscription, they occasionally do Limited Edtion one-time-purchase boxes. This is a review of their most recent GlossyBox CEW Beauty Insider Awards Limited Edition Box.

Butter London Sheer Wisdom Nail Tinted Moisturizer in Fair - Value $18

Tip: take off the top cap to make this nail polish easier to apply.

This is like a no-makeup makeup look for your nails. Two coats provide a sheer glossy finish:

And the formula is designed to help with brittle nails and nail breakage. I love a neutral nail, so this is a perfect fit for me!

BareMinerals Gen Nude Matte Liquid Lipcolor in Scandal - Value $19

The formula is creamy, highly pigmented, and non-drying with a matte finish. Pretty impressive all around. And it smells like brownie batter!

It isn’t the longest lasting long wear liquid lip I’ve tried, but it lasts for a long time and wears down nicely.

Manuka Doctor Drops of Crystal Cashmere Touch Serum - Value $40

This serum is designed to help plump and firm skin. (And allergy alert - it is made with purified bee venom!)

The formula is a gel that absorbs quickly and leaves skin with a smooth, matte finish. (It can work for both day and night, too!)

IT Cosmetics Heavenly Skin CC+ Skin Perfecting Brush - Value $48

This item alone more than covers the cost of the box! And it's a fab brush! I love IT Cosmetics for their makeup, (their Bye Bye Undereye Concealer is amazing if you have dark circles like I do), and this is my first time trying their makeup brush collection!

The brush bristles are soft, densely packed, and anti-bacterial! (They are also infused with collagen, but I'm a little skeptical about those benefits.) I was super impressed with the practically flawless finish I got when using this to apply liquid foundation, though! (Works on both liquid and powder foundations.)

Jafra Paris Et Moi Eau De Parfum - Value $52

This scent is a "blend of juicy Mara strawberry, romantic rose petal macaron, and elegantly enduring creamy silky woods."

I’m not much of a perfume wearer, but I kind of like this sweet scent. (And the bottle is pretty, too.)

Supergoop! Shine-On Lip Screen Broad Spectrum SPF 50 - Value $22

This formula has a ton of shine, no stickiness, and most importantly provides SPF 50 coverage!

Laneige Water Bank Soothing Gel Mask – Value $4.80

This sheet mask is a little different than most sheet masks in that it comes in two parts. (That works great for me because my face doesn’t always match up well with the eye, nose and mouth holes on the one-sheet-fits-all masks.)

This mask is a 30-minute one. A little longer than I would have liked, but it left my skin feeling super soft and refreshed, so I can’t complain!

Also, Laneige side note: Target no longer carries Laneige? No more Laneige in Target Beauty Boxes? 🙁 (But on the flip side, Sephora is now carrying, so we'll probably see it in Play! by Sephora boxes!)

Verdict: This box has a value of about $203.80. That's amazing for a $40 beauty box (or $35 for Glossybox subscribers). Plus everything is full size! And the products are fab, too!

GlossyBox has some issues with sending out monthly subscription boxes that are consistent across subscribers in terms of value and product sizes, but they do a fantastic job with Limited Edition boxes. (Everyone gets the exact same items.) I definitely recommend grabbing this one!

I just got this box last nite. I LOVE it!!! The perfume is my favorite, but I really loved everything. I’ve already used the polish, brush, perfume and the serum!

I don’t remember when I ordered it, but I was billed on 11/7. So it’s probably no surprise that I had forgotten all about it and was expecting the December box when I opened the package last nite. It was a nice surprise and I still have the December box to look forward to. Win win!!!!

I received the box today – decided to splurge when I was resubscribing to Glossy in October. I love the perfume! I didn’t even expect to like it this much, but this is definitely a scent I am gonna wear.
This means I will use everything in this box except for the serum and the nail polish. Not a bad buy.

I never received anything from this company, I contacted them when my first box didn’t arrive. Brittany didn’t do anything, gave me 3 page UPS form to fill, and even after that nothing was done. And thereafter they had the balls to me charge me one more time, and again not deliver. I can understand that stuff gets lost, but at least address the issue before shipping another one out. Never seen a company with a worst customer service. It is a scam, dont get it!

I have received my box today. I love everything except the lipstick – it’s liquid and a strange colour. I would have preferred 5 sheet masks as it’s supposed to be and no alcohol and bee venom in the serum, but at this price I can’t complain. I’ll try everything for once!

Now, if only their subscription box was as good…

I do like this Limited Edition Box. But the regular sub box I have to say is pretty disappointing. Some of the products are not even enough to try they are so small no point. I also think they are very cheap something you would find in a drug store. Pathetic. I definitely will not keep this subscription. But I can see spending the $40 for the Limited Edition.

Greatly and accurately described. The brush is my favorite item for sure.

I love this box at the first sight. But after carefully reading the post, I decide to skip this one. The colors of nail polish and lip product are totally misses for me. I’m interested in trying a new perfume, but the gel mask is a meh. I like the brush though.

This is going to sound crazy, but is the Paris Et Moi unusually scentless?? I received my box today and just opened the fragrance. I have sprayed it all over myself and around my house and I swear I can’t smell anything. Nothing has been tampered with, is it possible heat did something to the scent? I have never experienced anything like this before. I am still happy with my box, but is this just a very light scent?

The perfume has a moderate strength to it. The scent is light and floral…lasts quite a while on my wrists….maybe the heat did something to yours. 🙁

Liz, I love the looks of this box, but I am on the fence. I know I won’t use the serum since it has alcohol high on the ingredients list. I love the formula of the BareMinerals lip product, but I am unsure if the color will work for me. In the future, will you consider doing lip swatches instead of just arm swatches? Lip swatches are much more helpful for me when determining if a shade is too dark/light, etc.

Looks amazing. Does anyone have any info on how the bee venom is extracted? Sounds like a waste of bees.

Liz one thing you missed was that you only received 1 mask! Full size Laneige is 5 per the information fold out paper.
We are supposed to get seven full sized items. I contacted customer service and after being on hold for 45 minutes iMessage came on and said I could either leave a message or send an email. I sent an email I got a reply and the lady said she would contact the warehouse and get a tracking number for me to which I replied I already got my CEW box but I missing the other for mass to make it a full sized item. I’m now waiting for reply to that email

Ok so after getting no response by email except for a reply saying that they were so sorry they would check on the tracking number which had nothing to do with the email I sent explaining the Mask situation.

Here is what I received on Instagram because I took to IG since I wasn’t getting a response by email and the phone sent me to voicemail

Apologies for any miscommunication! Our product card gives you the information based on the online site only! The brand informed us that they are sold singly in certain retailer locations. Once we receive more info on that, we’ll definitely get back to you.

Thank you. I appreciate that. It had just said on the information card that a full-size item was five masks and everything else matches up perfectly to the full-sized items. I just wish I had an item that had more than just one use when it supposed to be full sized. I love the box in general and the perfume smells wonderful

I received my CEW glossybox on Thursday. It took 2 weeks from the day I ordered. The packaging is gorgeous. I love the serum, perfume and lip serum. That is what I tried so far. I look forward to trying the IT brush. It does require a special brush cleaner from Sephora to retain it’s properties as someone else pointed out in a prior post. Word of warning- That brush is expensive and available on Ebay- that being said- many of them are likely counterfeits. So if you purchase from there- ask for a serial number! The brush says you can use it to apply skincare products too. The lippie sunscreen is a terrific product! I kept reaching for it throughout the day. I am really glad I bought this box- GREAT deal and I will use it all. I didn’t subscribe to glossybox- I just bought this one. But, based on this purchase- I will definitely check out more of their LE boxes.

I love your blog ,and I do agree with your option that Glossybox has a good array of special edition,but don’t you think that with the scandal that is their behavior with customer service,(in your own page we rated 3.3)is just check out their Facebook page or comments, isn’t risky you “recommend” if we are NOT going to have a more careful care as I’m sure they would have with someone that reviews their products in a big website?
I mean think about the newbies , shouldn’t have at least some red flags
Like caution, reported several customer service issue?
I wish I knew that before my nightmares with them…

I have had many issues with GB customer service as well, but those were always related to the subscription. (Which I have now cancelled.) I would not recommend their sub to anyone.

That said, I have never had a problem with any special edition box. I will continue to buy AND recommend the special edition boxes. Their curation and value are top notch. Just know they take a l-o-n-g time to ship.

That’s good to know!thank you!So it’s safe to buy special edition.
My problem was in that GILT PROMOTION,long story short the box came with the broken seal,they didn’t send a tracking number for the second box…a headache
They didn’t bother to substitute or anything ,but that are people that got worst.
But thank you for the replies I’m really looking out for others it sucked so much my experience that , I don’t Wich on anybody…

The reviewer can reply for herself but as an outside observer, it is my opinion that he (or in this sites case, she) is reviewing the PRODUCTS and the BOX, not customer service.

NOW, if the box was due much sooner than the reviewer received it, than yes, I understand her stating something about that.

Quite frankly, there’s enough, ahem, negative talk about the companies, the boxes and even the reviewers that you can get a feel for company. It’s right there in the comments section.

When the box was purchased, did any of you get a “Thank you for your subscription!” message after you placed the order?

Whew! False alarm (I hope). I just looked at my account, and it says I currently have no active subscriptions under “Recurring Subscriptions”, and it does show the CEW box under “One Off Orders” along with my other Glossy LE box purchases. Hopefully that was just their equivalent of when they used to have the “Subscribe Now” button in place of the “Place Order” button.

I did the same thing, Luna! I saw that and said to myself, “Umm…did I accidentally sign up for a sub?” I too went to my account and checked and my order also shows under the “One Off Orders” section. Whew!
