Oh, something cute they did this month was printing some affirmations and encouragement inside the lid!
12 Benefits Instant Healthy Hair Treatment – 1.5 fl oz, Value $4.13 (buy an 8 oz. bottle for $22)
I love leave-in treatments! This one has a lot of different benefits for your hair, including smoothing, strengthening, color protection, improvement in manageability, adding shine and softness, etc. This gave my hair a silky finish and made it feel more hydrated and strong, too. The smell is nice, too!
Smashbox Photo Finish Pore Minimizing Primer - 0.25 fl oz, Value $9.75 (buy 1 oz. for $39)
Smashbox has an entire line of primers, and if you’ve had a beauty subscription box before you’ve probably tried a primer from Smashbox before. This kind is made to smooth pores and mattify your complexion. Additionally, it does everything primers are made to do in general, which is making your foundation go on more smoothly, give you more coverage with less product, and helping foundation stay in place and looking fresh longer. I’ve tried this before and I like it. I don’t really need a mattifying primer, though ( I have dry skin and like a dewy/natural complexion) so this will be passed along to my mama!
Daily Concepts Your Facial Mini Scrubber – Value $8
This was the sample choice I was sent (I forgot to pick my own – oops!), which is okay because it’s the sample that was the new discovery for me. I don’t generally reach for a facial sponge but I liked trying this one. It was gentle but it’s still a solid exfoliation.
Seeing as it’s still a physical exfoliant, though, particularly sensitive skin may want to use a light hand when trying this for the first time.
Sumbody Soaps Milky Rich Soap – 1 oz, Value $1.98 (buy 3, 3 oz. bars for $17.85)
I don’t normally go for bar soaps, but this one is great! I received the “Milky Rich” scent variation and it’s just light and fresh. This soap left my skin really soft and felt moisturized with none of the uncomfortable residue that can be typical with bar soaps.
Lord & Berry Glow Strobe Pencil - 0.02 oz, Value $10
This strobe pencil has a shimmery, champagne color. The design of this pencil, being so precise, is probably best for detailing like along the bridge of your nose and eyes/brow bones. You could totally blend it out along your cheekbones but it just may take a little more labor than a larger highlighter. That being said, I really like this – the formula has great pigment, blends easily, stayed all day, and I definitely prefer to use a shimmery champagne over a plain white pencil for brightening my eyes.
Here’s a swatch of the strobe pencil – the color works perfectly for me.
Verdict: Even though I forgot to pick my own sample this month, this was a good Birchbox for me. I was a little underwhelmed when unboxing/photographing, but after trying all the products I think they work well for me and were good discoveries – which is what sample boxes are all about!
As far as value goes, everything adds up to $33.86. I’m happy with that value for a $10 discovery box, especially because all of the products ended up working well for me.
What do you think about my September Birchbox? What did you get this month?
