The theme for this season's box was "Summer Loving." The theme/contents card is decorated with summery line drawings in a rainbow gradient.

Here's the content card listing all items included in the summer box.

As with each Makeup Box, Vegan Cuts included a "Vegan Beauty" sticker.

Vegan Cuts “Cosmic & Cruelty Free” Makeup Bag - Listed Value $20

This is a generously sized canvas bag custom made for Vegan Cuts. It has a constellation print of metallic gold stars and white geometric animal shapes. The large blue top zipper adds a pop of bright color and matches the interior lining. The lining is a wipeable material which makes this perfect for holding makeup which inevitably sheds all through whatever holding it! I like to feel prepared with a bag to hold everything, especially when traveling, so I was excited to find this large bag in this season’s box!

Emani Vegan Cosmetics Tantalizing Trio Eye Color - Value $20

I’m a big fan of neutral eyeshadows with a hint of shimmer and that’s exactly what I found in this trio! The light shade is perfect as a transition color for my fair skin. I applied it all over the lid and up onto my brow bone. Laying a base of a light shade like this helps when blending all the other shadows. I used the upper right color in my crease and blended with a crease brush. I wasn’t too impressed with how pigmented these shadows seemed when I swatched them on my wrist but they were just right when I used them on my lids. The shadow blended easily and had just the right amount of pigment for me. I used the lower color as a smokey liner on my lid and lower lash line and blended for a slightly smoky look. I still wanted a color to go over most of my lid so I grabbed a shade from one of my Morphe palettes and it looked nice with the rest of the look. These colors are a bit bold for me for every day but they’ll be good to have on hand for some fancier dinners my husband and I have planned for this month.

Manna Kadar Cosmetics Prime Time Eye & Lip Primer - Value $24

I can’t say I was surprised to see Manna Kadar in this box as the brand can be found in nearly every beauty box since last year. I was slightly disappointed to see it again though since it was in last season's box. However, I do always prime my eyeshadow so I was down to try a different product. The Manna Kadar primer was a bit darker than my go-to (Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion) but it was easy to apply all over my lid. It applied heavier in some areas, like at my lash line, but that covered easily with shadow. I've had the primer and shadow on for 4 hours and there are no creases!

Au Naturale Cosmetics Eternity Lipstick in Primrose - Value $25

When I first applied this lipstick I was surprised at how hard it was. I am used to creamier lipsticks and lip stains that just melt onto the lip. With a little extra pressure, this lipstick applied nicely with a light pigment that wasn’t too shocking. I really like the formula and how it doesn’t make my lips look dry at all. It is weightless and not sticky at all and I quickly forgot I was wearing anything at all. And it has some nice staying power! I sipped on some coffee soon after applying and didn’t leave any behind on my mug. The only thing I don’t like about this lipstick is the iridescent shimmer, as I prefer solid shades on my lips. I would totally buy this lipstick in another color though, Cha-Cha looks perfect for me.

Pacifica Rainbow Crystals Liquid Mineral Strobe Multi-use Highlighter in Crystal Moon - Value $13

This liquid highlighter is a super light, silvery metallic shade. This item was part of the preferences/selections from which subscribers could select different shades. I chose the Crystal Moon shade as my first choice because I don’t like yellow or bronzy shades as highlighters on my fair skin. I don’t typically wear highlighters and when I do I definitely prefer powders. Applying this product with a wand and blending it out with my finger didn’t produce the best results and left me looking more glittery than highlighted.

Here are the swatches! From top to bottom: Pacifica Liquid Mineral Strobe, Au Naturale Eternity Lipstick in Primrose, Emani Tantalizing Trio Eye Color, and Manna Kadar Prime Time Primer.

Here I am with all the items from the box on my face! Except for the bag, of course. The lipstick is subtle and you can see a little bit of shimmer on my cheek bones and under the arch of my brow from the highlight. It's tricky to see all of the different shadows because I am very oily and my face eats makeup. When I look in the mirror I think I look like I'm wearing SO MUCH makeup but then in this pic, it all looks pretty light.

Verdict: The Vegan Cuts Makeup Box for summer has a value of $102 which is great for a $39.95 per quarter box full of vegan beauty products. I like feeling good about the ingredients in my beauty products and Vegan Cuts always delivers. The makeup bag was a nice addition for me, though I know some people have a surplus of bags from other boxes. The size, quality, and design worked for me. The eyeshadow trio surprised me with its pigment and blendability but I do wish there was a 4th shade that looked good on its own - the two darker colors are too intense for me for all over the lid. The Pacifica Liquid Mineral Strobe is more of a miss for me because I am oily and am reluctant to add extra shine to my face, and prefer powders in general. I am a huge fan of the lipstick formula though and hope to purchase this in a different color, I'm so glad I discovered this product! Overall, the mix of products in this season's box is strong, though not all hits for me.

I want that bag so badly. But not enough to spend $40 basically to get a makeup bag. >_> I’ll just hope someone lists theirs on ebay soon.

I would be upset to pay $40. for any box and receive a mannakadar product in it. They are so over exposed and has anyone ever bought an item from them? They are a box filler only, in my opinion.

That said, I would still be upset to pay $40. for this box. Not to be insulting to the reviewer but everything in it is drab. No wow product, no product with any color payoff at all. Just more of the same stuff in the same brown colors.

I totally agree. This was so much better as a lower priced monthly sub….

You have a beautiful complexion. My mom has always complained about her face absorbing her makeup, especially the powers, but I hadn’t heard it put quite the way you did.

Loved your comment that your face eats makeup! -it made me picture that one. What type do you think it enjoys best and does it prefer lighter or darker shades?

One thing is for sure, your make up eating face looked great in the picture 🙂

Hehe thank you, you’re so sweet! I think my face (and I guess mostly my eyelids!) prefers to gobble the darker pigments.
