A tri-fold booklet was also included and listed this month’s theme as “Behind the Dish.” The box was focused on catchers. All the items in the box were photographed and written up with a description.
Oven Mitt - Value $7.00?
This is a Sports Crate exclusive Yankee oven or barbecue mitt. The mitt is designed to resemble a catcher’s mitt. It comes with a handy loop to hang off a hook on your grill or stove and have it ready to grab when needed.
Masahiro Tanaka Baller Figure - Value $20.00?
There was a fully posable Baller figurine of Yankee catcher Gary Sanchez. The figure uses SportsFlex posable technology which includes 21 points of articulation. Sanchez comes with a plate that he can stand on in an upright position.
Shot Glasses - Value $8.00?
This set came with two heavy frosted shot glasses. The Yankee logo is one side and the Sports Crate logo is on the alternate side. These are well-made glasses, but I wish that Sports Crate didn’t use so much branding in this box. It makes me much less likely to gift these items.
Yankees Flag - Value $15.00?
This Yankees flag is big and made of a heavyweight nylon that I think will withstand lots of outdoor use, sun, and rainstorms. I’m glad that there is not a huge Sports Crate logo on the back. I thought the splattered paint look of the Yankees logo was cool and made it look unique. This flag would also look great hanging up in a sports themed room of the house if you didn’t have a spot to display it outside.
Coasters - Value $8.00?
These coasters are cool; they have a bottle opener built inside so you can open your beer or other bottled beverage and then rest it on the coaster. One side is printed with the Yankee logo and the reverse (again) has the Sports Crate logo.
Topps Trading Card - Value $2.00?
Every month Sports Crate will be sending a limited edition Topps trading card. This month’s card was of catcher Gary Sanchez which would look great displayed along with the poseable figurine.
Verdict: This was the second Sports Crate by Loot Crate. I wish they would ease up a bit on the Sports Crate branding, but overall I am pleased with the box and I am certainly looking forward to seeing what they send out next. I wish there was another shirt or at least a hat, but this month was a cooking/entertaining type theme so the oven mitt, coasters and glasses make sense. The value with my estimations comes to $60.00 which is well above the $39.99 cost of the box. I think this would make a great gift for MLB fans.
