Good Being Box Subscription Review – July 2017

Good Being box is a natural and organic beauty box. Each month you'll receive a box customized to your beauty profile. (This is a box that will have some variation between subscribers.)

You also get to pick two of your products each month!

My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

The Subscription Box: Good Being Box

The Cost: $21 a month

The Products: Eco-friendly beauty and wellness products.

Ships to: US only.

Check out my Good Being reviews and the Eco-friendly Subscription Box Directory for similar boxes!

Every box comes with cards detailing each product.

Now, on to the items!

BORIKA Mocha+Cinnamon Natural Body Scrub - 2 oz Value $5

This scrub smells SO good! Cinnamon + coffee smells like fall! My only problem is that the coffee isn't ground down nearly enough. Here is a look at the scrub:

There are some big coffee bean pieces that I worried about getting stuck in a shower drain. The formula itself was pretty rough thanks to the big pieces, too. I'm wondering if I got a bad batch? (I'm going to reach out to BORIKA to find out since I would love this scrub if the particles were smaller.)

Rutz Skincare In Your Face Spa-Ahh Elixir Mist - FULL SIZE! Value $28

This spray mist is designed to be used on clean skin before your serum and moisturizer to help those products better absorb.

The formula is made 95% organic ingredients, and the scent is natural and refreshing. I also appreciated that the spray nozzle produced a super fine mist.

C&Co. Rosemary & Lavender Lotion Bar - FULL SIZE! Value $10

This is a rich butter bar that left my skin a little oily but oh so moisturized! I couldn't really pick up the rosemary in the scent, but I'm a lavender lover, so that's OK.

My only complaint about this lotion bar is the container. You have to push up the lotion like a push-pop with your finger, and you have to keep it there as you apply, too. (A twist up version would have been better.)

URSA MAJOR Fortifying Face Balm - (size not listed) Value $5

This is very light for a "balm." I'd consider it more of a lotion/gel hybrid. It absorbs almost instantly, hydrates, and leaves your skin with a matte finish. (Plus 100% natural ingredients!)

URSA MAJOR Essential Face Wipes (3) - Value $3.60

These are so light and refreshing! They help cleanse your skin and also give you a little hydration, too. (The URSA Major brand is a subscription box discovery both my husband and I love equally!)

Woo Bamboo Adult Soft Toothbrush - Value $4

A biodegradable bamboo toothbrush packaged with recycled and recyclable materials? Always good!

I use a spin brush, but always need extra tooth brushes on hand for travel.

And lastly, this box included "a 'lil nugget of gratitude" from Rutz Naturals.

This tiny 'lil amethyst stone is about the size of a dime!

Verdict: This box has a value of about $56. That's great for a $21 natural beauty box, especially when you consider that Good Being lets you pick two of your samples every month. All the samples are good sizes, too. And multiple full-size items!

What do you think of the July Good Being Box? Which products did you pick this month?

I did a 3 month subscription (and just received my August box today, my last box). Overall, this one was really disappointing. I don’t expect to love everything in a subscription box – but with this one, I ended up getting full sized products that I literally couldn’t use or didn’t want at all.

In my August box, I chose one of the aromatherapy sprays. Thankfully, they put it in a ziplock bag, because nearly ALL of the spray leaked out. When I checked it out – the screw on top/sprayer was loose – it hadn’t been screwed on tightly enough. I think some leaked out of the sprayer nozzle as well, but surely a good bit came out where the sprayer was just not properly attached.

I went to their site to see if they replace broken/leaked items, and surprise surprise, there’s a good chunk in their FAQ talking about how you should still try to use the items (not sure if the link will work, but under their FAQ – look at the “Troubleshooting” section…
https://support.joingoodbeing.com/hc/en-us/articles/224571527-What-if-one-of-my-items-is-broken-melted-or-otherwise-imperfect- )

You should be aware before subbing, this line (from the faq) in particular:
“Given the nature of the service and the low price members pay to test out products, we do not guarantee that your samples will arrive to you in perfect condition. They are not a retail purchase, after all, and thus not treated as such. ”

Yes, it’s a way to test out products… but we’re still paying for them. I don’t expect “pristine” – and I don’t think most of us would be bothered at all by a crushed box or a crack in a pressed powder product. But, when almost all of your product leaks out of the bottle b/c someone didn’t tighten the lid appropriately? That’s just a waste of money for me 🙁

Oh, and since I’ve discontinued my subscription, no replacement. They clearly state that if they replace an item, they’ll send it in your next box. But, I’m at the end of my subscription, so I won’t be getting a next box.

I was really excited about this box… I love being able to choose a couple items, I love the all-natural and carefully curated focus, and I was planning to get a gift sub for my sister’s birthday. But, really… it’s just been so disappointing, every month 🙁 Not worth the price, certainly not worth the increased price.

Sorry, I hate to be a bummer. I just had such high hopes for this one, and I’m truly disappointed. 🙁 I hope others had better luck with their boxes, and no leaks, and I guess the bright side, as I said, was that at least there was a plastic bag – so the leak didn’t affect anything else. 🙁

I rec’d the scrub, but in a different scent, as well! I was going to wait until I finish my current opened body scrub, but now I’m curious to see if mine has huge chunks as well. Yikes! I think my biggest complaint with this monthly box is that unless a full-size item has an ingredient list, they don’t otherwise provide ingredient lists. Since this caters to women who are ingredient-conscious, including ingredients for EVERY product should be a non-negotiable… especially for the price-point of this box.

I ordered 3 of the $20 flash sale boxes a few weeks ago and only 2 or the 3 have arrived and one was missing an item. They long ago got their money from me. They make it kinda difficult to contact customer service and also charged $5 for shipping making the boxes full price. I loved this company before but this experience has left a bad taste in my mouth. Pretty unhappy & don’t feel like subbing with them any time soon.

Don’t subscribe to this box… You’ll be charged a month ahead and the reasoning makes no sense to me since they also raised their prices due to the picking 2 items now. Then they say the month ahead is also because of that reason… I just think their are better boxes in this price range that charge appropriately…

I find that purchasing a six-month renewal is the best value. Even with the price increase, you always get a much higher value in products. Plus, their customer service is awesome. This is my favorite box of my five subscriptions.

I can’t help but think of the possibility of getting splinters in your mouth from that toothbrush…

Does anybody get the lifestyle box? I started a sub with them and chose that instead of the beauty box and this is my 2nd month of receiving boxes with a bunch of beauty items inside. I’m not sure what all comes in the lifestyle box, but it seems like it shouldn’t be full of beauty items.

I love this mist! This box delivers month after month. I am so happy with their curation.

I got the Ursa Major balm and wipes as well, and I just love them! The wipes are great for travel, or to keep in your gym bag. I’m using the Rutz as a toner, and the scent is very refreshing.

That was my favorite item in the box. Let us know if that is a bad batch. I have never seen a dry scrub like that.
