Organic Breakfast Refresher - Black Tea
The little sample this month was a straightforward black tea. The only ingredient is South Indian Nilgiri tea. Looking at all the other crazy flavors in the box, it's nice to get a simple tea in the bunch. This was really fragrant and the taste was super smooth. I'm always impressed with a strong black tea that's tasty enough without any added flavors or sweeteners.
Strawberry Deluxe - Black Tea
I've had this tea before and I really liked it. The lemon and strawberry flavors work well together to add flavor without veering too sweet or too sour. The strawberry scent is stronger than the flavor but it still adds some excitement to black tea. I'm excited to have a large quantity of this because I've enjoyed it as a hot brew and now I have enough to do iced brews as well! The strawberry and lemon made this a perfect iced tea for the humid summer days I'm now experiencing.
Vanilla Apricot – Black Tea
Field to Cup creates a lot of delicious black teas, so I'm always happy to see a couple in each box. This black tea blend contains some apricot, vanilla bean, papaya, peach, and blackberry leaves. The addition of fruit creates the perfect amount of sweetness. I love to use these types of blends to replace my morning coffee because I never have to add anything to them and they’re high up on the caffeine scale!
Wild Harmony - Wellness Tea
I loved the pretty colors in this blend. There's so much going on with this tea! The short description lists herbs, fruit, and bergamot with stinging nettle. The longer list covers everything from dragonfruit to beetroot to pink peppercorns and more. The mix of so many ingredients does even out into a nice earthy and fruity flavor. I made this as an iced tea and it was hard to pick out a single flavor. Sometimes the strawberry and orange came through the most but then the lemongrass and floral flavors would seem stronger. For a milder tea, the flavor was pretty complex and interesting!
Island Breeze – Fruit Tea
I love beautiful blends like these! This has huge chunks of cherries, cranberries, apples, kiwis, and coconut flakes. The super fruity scent that came out of the pouch reminded me a bit of a fruit cocktail (without being sickly sweet). When you have whole chunks of ingredients like this, the brew time is a bit longer. The suggestion for this blend was 5 minutes, but I went for about 7. This was a perfect dessert tea! The sweetness feels decadent, and it has no caffeine! I ended up fishing out the cherry chunks to eat while I was drinking this, and the whole experience was delicious! This is the kind of blend I never think to buy for myself, and I’m so happy it was included in this box!
Summertime Grey – Black Tea
Another black tea in this box had a slight twist on a classic Earl Grey blend. This Summertime Grey includes white tea alongside the standard black tea and bergamot. I’ve love Field to Cup’s Earl Grey blends, and this was no exception. It tasted very similar to a regular Earl Grey, but the white tea made it just a little lighter. This makes the black tea and citrus flavor mild enough for a nice summer tea break. This was great as a hot brew but would be amazing iced, as well.
Mandarin Spritz - Green Tea
Field to Cup introduced me to sencha a few months ago and I loved it! Mandarin Spritz is just sencha and safflower petals. This tea has the fastest brewing time at just two minutes. Sencha smells slightly grassy and the taste is a little mild. But the mandarin essence helps to bring out the more astringent qualities of the tea which give it a slight kick. I've just been loving the taste of sencha and I like seeing what people choose to pair with it. This version of sencha is a nice mild tea for summer afternoons.
Nighty Nite - Wellness Tea
Appropriately enough, Nighty Nite tea does not have caffeine but does have chamomile. Chamomile is what I think of when I picture a nighttime tea but this one adds some extra flavor. It definitely has a strong chamomile flavor but that's offset with floral and citrus notes. The orange peel and lemon verbena add a little jolt to the flavor but the overall effect is still calming.
Apple on a Stick – White Tea
Opening this pouch was like walking into a carnival. It smelled so sweet and sugary! The green apple scent is strong, but the coconut and lemongrass cut through it really well. This has the shortest brew time at two minutes and resulted in a really smooth blend. White tea is very mild and subtle, so the slight sharpness of the green apple works well with it.
Verdict: Field to Cup continues to be one of my favorite subscriptions. The variety is always awesome and this box felt super summery to me. My favorites this month were Island Breeze and Mandarin Spritz. The Nighty Nite tea was also up there for me. Field to Cup has consistently introduced me to new flavor combinations and it's always fun to see what each box brings!
