Strawberry Patch - Black Blend

I love that this had a blend of black and green tea. I've become a fan of fruity black teas but I think the green tea slightly lightened this blend up so that it works as a hot tea in summer. The strawberry, papaya, and rose hips add a great level of sweetness to the black and green blend so you don’t need to add anything to it. The green and black tea were really smooth together and this really did just taste like a bunch of strawberries found their way into your drink. I think this would be a great iced tea but I was surprised at how much I loved it hot. It’s been super hot here recently but the flavor of this was refreshing enough that the heat from the tea didn’t bother me.

Juicy Watermelon - Fruit Tea

It has been hot and humid here recently so I was ready for a sweet, refreshing tea. Juicy Watermelon definitely fit the bill! I'm sure it's awesome as a hot tea but I really wanted to see what this was like iced. The combination of melon, strawberry, apple, and carrot makes the nicest treat. The sweetness of the melon and strawberry does create a perfect watermelon flavor. I could definitely see this being a great tea to have around on the hottest summer days. Judging from how quickly I downed this, it's a good thing there's no caffeine!

Toasted Breakfast Blend - Green Tea

Field to Cup has really opened my eyes to a variety of green teas and I've really enjoyed them all. This green tea is incredibly simple: it's just green tea, matcha, and rice. The first time I saw rice in a tea blend I thought it was really odd but it adds a really interesting depth to the flavors. This tea does smell like toasted rice with the tiniest hint of matcha. It is a perfect blend of the three ingredients. I tasted the green tea and matcha (both of which I love) and the popped rice just added an interesting, buttery element. This is a heartier green tea and it did work well for breakfast.

Vanilla Horchata - Rooibos Tea

The cinnamon and almond in this smelled amazing! The blend smelled great in the pouch but as soon as it started brewing, the vanilla and cinnamon were super strong. This steeps quickly in only four minutes so I didn't have to wait long to try it. Rooibos tea can taste slightly nutty on its own so it mixed well with the almond flavor. The vanilla sweetened it up while the cinnamon gave it a little kick. This would be amazing mixed with milk over ice.

Verdict: Tea Explorer is a great way to get a quick feel for Field to Cup. This box was a perfect sampler, especially for summer. I like that they include a variety of teas (rooibos, green, black, etc) so you can see what you naturally gravitate towards. This was a great summer box and I can usually pick out one favorite but I think I have two this month - Toasted Breakfast Blend and Juicy Watermelon!

Thanks Sarah! I will sign up. I love matcha and rice tea – I was taught to drink it by a Chinese professor who had studied in Japan and was introduced to it there. And I love, love, love rooibos. Thanks for a great review – I will sign up now and hope that I get this package! All four teas seem like awesome winners.
