Here are some kitties waiting for me to open the box. They were like this for a few hours…
I love how the information cards have custom artwork every month. And the back has more information about the items in the box.
Note: Pretty much every item in this box is exclusive, so I have taken the values from the information card.
Calming Kitty Bead Bracelet – Listed Value $14.99
I wouldn’t call this a jewelry-heavy subscription, but you will get a piece of jewelry every now and then. They do a good job – I don’t think I’ve seen one like this yet from Cat Lady Box. I personally like that the beads are on the small size. This does have a stretchy cord.
Cat Wine Corkscrew – Listed Value $17.99
This wine opener came in a lovely custom box, so if you don’t drink wine, it would be easy to gift to a cat lover. We don’t have any wine at home right now (except little screw top bottles from Target that we use for cooking), so I haven’t been able to try it out yet. It is not terribly difficult to fold out the corkscrew part and then fold it back again when you are done, so it gives every indication that it will work very well. It looks high quality and sturdy, too.
Playful Kitten Tea Light Holder – Listed Value $19.99
LED Tea Light – Listed Value $1.99
This came with an LED tea light, but of course, you are free to use a regular one if you want. If you put the part that looks kind of like a shot glass inside the outer part, then light up a tea light inside (this one had a switch on the bottom), you can see itty silhouettes on the outer glass. It would probably have worked even better in the dark.
Kittea Tea Bags from Pet Winery – Value $6.47
These have valerian in addition to catnip, so they’re sort of stinky. You are supposed to pour hot water over these for three minutes, then remove the tea bag and cool the water with an ice cube before giving to your cat(s). This is really a Monkey item; he responds far more with beverages like this than any other cat does. He really wanted to rub his chin on the bowl I brewed this in.
Zen Stone Catnip Toy – Listed Value $3.99
Sometimes simpler is better. This toy was a good size and shape for my crew. Angus, especially, thought it was fun.
Angus was there to help me with the unboxing.
Don’t tell him, but this item is not a toy…
And here are a few shots of Angus with the actual cat toy from the box.
My husband and I managed to coax Madison out from under the bed. (OK, we tricked him out by giving him some treats and then shut him in the bathroom.)
Monkey was also there for the unboxing.
Mostly he wanted to LOVE the bowl with the tea, but he did eventually drink some.
Sneaky was in a foul mood because I didn’t give her any treats. This was the best I could do for her this time.
Mr. Kitty is a talented explorer and inspector, and he really showed his talents here. (Mostly he was waiting for his midday meal…)
The Verdict: I calculated a value of about $65.42 for the July 2017 (Crazy) Cat Lady Box. That is above the cost of the subscription by quite a lot. Even if one item ends up not being for you, you come out ahead, financially. I think they did a great job this month coming up with a selection of items that are new types of items we may not have received in this box before. I enjoyed watching my kitties with the cat-specific items, and I think I will be using the tea light holder especially often.
What do you think of the July Cat Lady Box? Do you subscribe to any cat boxes?
