Organza bags kept the items grouped together. I like the pink and red of this month's bags.
It looks like the theme for July is 'Focus on you: Swipe on some gloss, throw your hair up and feel amazing.' The part about hair confuses me since there aren't any hair-related items in the box.
Burt's Bees Lip Gloss – Value $9
This lip gloss is 100% natural and is made with sunflower oil. There were color variations; I received Starry Night. It looks darker in the tube but gets much lighter when it spreads out. It's a bit sticky at first but very moisturizing.
Oreo Cookies, 2.4 oz. – Value $0.37 (buy a box of 12 packs for $4.48)
This box featured a lot of classic American snacks, so Oreos fit right in. I don't need to tell you how they taste – you probably started craving them as soon as you scrolled to this picture.
Watermelon Sour Patch Kids, 2 oz. – Value $0.91 (buy a box of 24 for $21.82)
I'd never tried the watermelon variety of Sour Patch Kids, but they're nice for summer. I don't always like sour candies, but these were a perfect balance of sour and sweet.
Gardetto's Snack Mix, 1.75 oz. – Value $0.67 (buy a pack of 36 for $23.97)
This snack mix was made in Wisconsin. It was nice to have a savory snack to balance the sweet snacks in the box.
Rice Krispie Treats Bar – Listed Value $0.35 (buy a box of 8 for $2.77)
This box arrived on a hot day, so this treat arrived with the perfect amount of gooeyness. It lasted about three seconds after taking the photo.
Mallo Cups – Value $0.27 (buy a 450-count box for $59.95)
Mallo Cups are classic, but they only seem to be available in certain regions. They're the same idea as Reeces cups, but with milkier chocolate and whipped cream inside instead of peanut butter.
Stash Organic Teas – Value $0.70 (buy 18 tea bags for $4.20 on the Stash Teas site)
I've had Stash teas before, but I hadn't tried their organic line. Very Berry was good and exactly what you'd expect from the name. Cascade Mint was ok, though if you've tried one mint tea, you've tried them all. I'm not really fond of lavender, so I didn't try that one.
Summer's Eve Sheer Floral Cleansing Cloth – Value $0.90 (buy a box of 16 for $7.22)
Cleansing clothes are a welcome addition in every Bonjour Jolie box.
Midol Complete, 2 packets – Value $0.67 (buy 40 caplets for $6.67)
Two medine packets are always included.
Violet Iodine – Value $22.99
This item took me by surprise! According to the card, "Violet Iodine is a non-prescription, non-hormone daily supplement for overall breast health. A daily regimen helps alleviate 'PMS Breasts' – the breast discomfort you may have with your menstrual cycle including breast tenderness, aches, swelling and heaviness." I've only been taking this for a day, but curious to see if it has an effect. I think it's a creative and appropriate addition to the box.
Verdict: The value of this box was about $37, which is fantastic for a $16.50 box. This isn't my favorite Bonjour Jolie box; I prefer the ones with a more themed curation. However, I enjoyed all the items and am especially curious about the Violet Iodine.
I'd also like to mention that my original box was lost by the USPS. When I told Bonjour Jolie about it, they sent a replacement via 1-day Priority Mail. I've read mixed opinions about their customer service, but my personal experience has always been positive.
What do you think of July's Bonjour Jolie box? Have you ever tried an iodine supplement before?
