This card suggests that this month's picks will be all about summer!
Here's a list of the products that I received this month. I have a huge, ever-growing collection of sunglasses, so I can't wait to check these out!
Everything comes packaged thoughtfully in little bags like this one.
Wrap It with a Bow Necklace
This double-stranded necklace probably isn't made of real pearls, but it sure does look pretty. The information card says the necklace is a celebration of the subscription's June birthday. Fun! It's an exclusive piece to this box, too. I like when I feel like I'm getting unique items that can't be found at any ol' store.
The bows are my favorite part of this necklace. They're really dainty, especially with their tiny rhinestones!
It lays long on me, which I like. (I just tried it on for fun with what I was wearing, but I'd definitely wear it with something a little fancier than a tank top!) This necklace would look gorgeous laying atop a classic LBD. Very Audrey Hepburn, y'know?
Karen Kane Necklace
I'm not a huge fan of red in my wardrobe. I love a red lipstick, but red clothes and accessories aren't my thing. I don't know if it's the most flattering on me? Either way, when I saw the scarlet gems in this necklace, I was kind of like, "meh." The crystals are cute, though—I love a bit of twinkle!
The way the gems are cut remind me of the ends of much-loved lipstick. Again, the color isn't quite my thing, but I could see this looking really elegant on someone else!
I do really like that it sits right at the center of my chest. It doesn't make a huge impact, but I could see it being an elegant finishing touch for a sophisticated dress with a scooping neckline. It's snazzy enough to work in a party or wedding look, but subtle enough for professional outfits, too.
Evette Summer Watch
Ooooo, now this is my style! I've never been someone to wear a watch, but I've always wanted to be that person, haha! I think watches, especially oversized ones like this ivory design, can make an outfit look so crisp, modern, and finished.
This is another exclusive design, though I don't feel like it's as unique as the double-strand pearl necklace. In other words, I could probably find something really similar to this at an accessories store, so the "exclusive" aspect doesn't mean as much to me. All of that said, I'm just really excited to have a cool watch like this one!
Granted, the strap is made from glossy, obviously faux leather (or faux snakeskin, to be exact). It's pretty stiff and makes plastic, squeaky sounds when you slip the band through the loops of the buckle. But I like how neutral it is, and it seems sturdy enough to be an everyday look.
My favorite part of this glistening gold watch is that the noon spot on the face is marked with a tiny rhinestone!
Bonus Item: Rosebud Classic Sunnies
Okay, I'm a huge sunglasses fan, so I can't wait to check these out! I like that they come in their own soft, printed sleeve.
Here are the glasses. They're a little rounder than the sunglasses I usually go for, but I like how big they are. They're black with eggplant undertones to them. According to the card, the color of these sunglasses varies from box to box. Did anyone get a different color? I'm happy I got something sleek and versatile.
There's a little floral detail on either arm of these sunnies. It's a cute idea, but it seems kind of hastily executed—the charm is just kind of stuck on and doesn't seem to fit in the space it's given (the one leaf of the design is starting to poke up over the top edge of the arm). I'm a sucker for metallic gold, though, so I like the little accent.
These aren't totally my style, but I'm definitely hanging on to them if simply because of their size! They'd be perfect for picnics or hanging by the pool. My eyes are both really big and super light blue, which makes them 1) super sensitive to sun (I'm always squinting in outdoor photos) and 2) hard to satisfy with anything short of giant sunnies. These big, wide sunglasses give my picky eyes plenty of coverage.
Verdict: Your Bijoux Box was just $36 (with free US shipping)—that means each of the three main items would be worth around $12.00, which seems fair to me for the quality of the pieces. And being that I got a bonus item, too, this box is a great deal for expanding your accessories collection. I've noticed that some of my previous Your Bijoux Box jewelry tarnished pretty quickly, so I'm a little worried about that happening with the pendant necklace, but the pearls and watch should be okay for awhile. None of these products really wowed me, but I am happy to add them to my jewelry collection. I like how out-of-the-box the pearl necklace is, and the sunglasses, while not a style I'd probably grab for myself, are so practical that I'll definitely use 'em. One last tiny observation! Despite the info card saying this was a summer-focused box, these pieces don't feel very summery to me. Sure the sunglasses will be great on a sunny day, but the pearls and scarlet pendant seem more appropriate for a holiday party, rather than a summer picnic or wedding. I can definitely style them into summery looks—they're just not the most obvious picks for the season.
