The information card told the theme this month: Aloha, Volcano! It explained the STEM princess characteristic of the month: Intelligence. It also listed each item in the box and had a small piece of literature about volcanologists (scientists who study volcanoes).
This month’s characteristic card is about intelligence. This card encourages your princess to be strategic, smart and put forth their best efforts. The card has a place for your child (with or without adult help) to tell a time when they gave their best effort. I think the characteristic cards are a great time for self-reflection and character building discussions.
Aloha Floral Princess Dress - Value $20.00?
This dress is absolutely stunning. It looks much more formal and stylish than the dress up princess clothing my daughter normally wears for fun around the house. The navy blue satin top has a built in tied sash detail at the waist that is very fashion forward. The skirt has a texture to it and is swirled flowers with a thick black outline that makes each bloom really pop against the peach background. The dress was easy on and off with a zipper down the back. The sleeveless style is nice for summer and my daughter is very taken with the design and full skirt.
Headband - $5.00?
The navy blue satin bow headband perfectly matched the blue of the dress and mirrored the sash look of the dress. It is comfortable and kept my daughter’s hair out of her face which is a constant struggle as she grows out her bangs.
Time for Kids: Volcanoes! By Editors of TIME for Kids - Value $3.99
Each month Tutu Royal has sent a TIME for Kids book which goes along with the theme. These paperback books are filled with interesting facts and colorful large photographs. My daughter has been getting more into nonfiction books because of Tutu Royal and for that, I’m so thankful. This book discussed volcanoes, volcanologists, lava and more.
Kookies by Keirsten Flower Cookie – Value $4.00?
This frosted cookie tastes as good as it looks. It has a light lemony flavor and was fresh and sweet. Tutu Royal had it double packaged in a sealed bag and bubble wrap to protect it in transit. We love that Tutu Royal sends a yummy edible treat each month.
Verdict: My daughter adores the Tutu Royal box and I was happy to see how much was included for the $20 (plus shipping) price point. I am estimating the value of the box to be around $33 which I’m very happy with. I like the idea that this box is mixing princess dress-up fun with an emphasis on education, STEM and confidence boosting literature as well. I also appreciate that with each subscription purchased Tutu Royal donates a subscription to an adoption agency. What a lovely idea.
