The Bookish Box is a book-inspired subscription box from the online shop, Appraising Pages.

Originally, The Bookish Box was a subscription box filled with bookish objects only—no actual books involved. Recently, though, they changed up their game and added several subscription varieties to choose from, including one that does have a book inside!

My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

This review is of the Women's Sized, $29.99 a month, box that includes a t-shirt.

The Subscription Box: The Bookish Box

The Cost: $29.99 plus shipping (Shipping to PA was $4.50)

The Products: Every month you’ll receive a shirt by Appraising Pages Shop and 3-5 feminine home, beauty, and fashion items

Ships to: U.S. and Worldwide!

This month's theme is "Mean Girls." (I wish I could write that for every month! LOVE Mean Girls!)

The items inside the box are listed on the back of the card. And you'll also see the items included in the upgraded subscription. The YA Book Box included Grit by Gillian French. And the Adult Book Box include Into the Water by Paula Hawkins.

The Limit Does Not Exist T-Shirt - Value $20

This tee is 100% cotton and fitted. (You can choose your size and style of the tee when signing up.) And while I was expecting a classic Mean Girls pink color for this tee, but I guess the peachy-pink is a little less obvious!

Knot & Knirvana Tumbler - Value $5

Adorbs Tumbler, but I wish it was a more substantial one, like the double-walled versions in their etsy shop.

That said, it's still BPA-free, and combining "On Wednesdays, we wear pink" with a love of YA books is amazing.

Bookish Box Mean Girls Necklace - Value $15?

This necklace includes two pink bead accents, and the pendant piece is a compilation of quotes from Mean Girls:

You Go Glen Coco Compact - Value Priceless? (Or $10?)

One of the best and silliest lines from the movie, I love that I now have it in mirrored compact form!

Personally Victimized Notepad - Value $3?

This notepad is for people who are waiting to get their borrowed books back. I don't have this problem, but it is a cute extra!

Mashup Print - Value $5?

This print combines Mean Girls, Harry Potter, and Game of Thrones! Is there a number of fandoms when a mashup becomes too much? I'm not sure, but this isn't it!

Verdict: I'm a very happy subscriber this month! And I imagine most Mean Girl fans loved this box, too! Most of the items in this box are exclusives, so the value isn't easy to determine, but it's worth the $30 + shipping to me.

Um. But what does this have to do with books? Mean Girls was technically based on a book but it wasn’t fiction and didn’t have any of these quotes. This is a strange theme for a bookish box.

I want to subscribe to this but the link leads to a crate joy message saying they don’t have this sub. Any idea why?

Sorry about that! Looks like they are no longer listed on Cratejoy. I’ve updated the links to go to their new site.

A fun and life changing FYI: watch the full Glen Coco clip carefully. Glen is a guy! Lol! I’m sure I’m not the only one who thought the randomly named character was female. 😆

I love the tumbler. They should have given a nod to the Rosalind Wiseman’s Queen Bees and Wannabes, the book “Mean Girls” was based on.

You mentioned that you were concerned about the tumbler not feeling “substantial.” Mine’s turned into a toddler car cup for the past several weeks, and it meets the challenge easily. If you have not tried it yet – this one will surprise you. I was skeptical at first too, but seeing how well it does in tiny hands, I’m more than won over.

The tumblers in their shop sell for $15, not $5. Is it sold for less elsewhere?

I linked to the etsy shop that makes this tumbler, but the ones pictured in the shop are a higher quality. (Double walled, etc.)

I’m guessing on the $5 retail value since I believe this was made exclusively for the box.

Sorry for the confusion! Hope that helps clarify!
