Looking for the latest spoiler for this box? Find it here:
To find out which box you’re receiving at the beginning of each month, follow these instructions:
If you log in through a browser, not the app, and go to my account > account details > online orders and open the play! Order Details (it was dated 11/1 for me), you can see the “item number” next to the image.
And in case you missed it, here are the spoilers from our Anonymous tipster on the other boxes:
Here are a few unofficial box variations, subject to change. The remaining three boxes are similar, with a handful of additional items not listed here.
P.S. I’d like to give a shoutout to MSA for being so gracious (and trusting) about these spoilers for the past year. Thanks so much, Liz, it’s been fun!

I am generally happy with my play boxes, but #42 was a gigantic disappointment. That lip colour is horrendous!

This isn’t the first play box that was a complete 5 for 5 miss. I was 042. The one that would have been perfect for me was 059.
Hate the colour of the lip gloss. Way too bright. I don’t use oils although I do love Ouai wave spray and see it. I have the benefit primer, wouldn’t use the first aide primer, and the perfume choice is not for me either.
059 had the perfect shade, the sea salt spray which I am addicted to, Bvlgari perfumes line my shelf.
Am hoping next month is better but I gave up other subscriptions because of huge misses on what my profile is filed out as and what was sent and until this month I was loving Play.
(I am done whining). 🙂

Received my Play box today. I will be cancelling my subscription today as well. I’ve received 4 boxes and each time I am disappointed even more. Products are ridiculously tiny and so random. You can walk into any Sephora and obtain these samples for free at the counter.
Sticking to my Ipsy bags.

Cecilia,
ME TOOOOO!!! I looked at that sample from Benefit and was so pissed, it’s smaller than the picture on that how to use paper. I cancelled them before I got my box and so happy that I did. I’m not happy with my Ipsy haul this month but that rarely happens but Sephora is by far the biggest disappointment. I got 3 primers in 1 box! 3 though, ridiculous. I will stick with ipsy and allure and wait to see what this macy beauty box is all about after the first review.

Meh. I’m getting close to pulling the plug on Sephora.
Can’t stand matte liquid lipstick. Too drying, and K-Dub is WAY too bold.

so done with this. They are just throwing stuff in that no one really wants. i joined play by sephora so i can get cool new products.
what pissed me off is the towelette . are they for real?????

I would love to trade my #042 for #059, but don’t know how to swap. Is anyone interested and can you tell me how to do it?

Hello! I am willing to swap! I will receive my box soon!

I am 042 and I am really happy with this! I am more into makeup then skincare but I’m fine with all these products! None of them seem bad and I can see myself getting use out of all of them! I actually wanted Kdub and not lovesick because I already own a full size of lovesick and have a point perk of lovesick so I did not need another. The porefessional, although not new is a great product and is good to get so I don’t have to get a full size of it. I own the coconut smoothie and love it, so it’s nice to get a travel friendly one or just to keep in my purse. And although I don’t love getting hair products every month, these 2 actually look pretty good to me. Ouai makes great products and I love rose scented stuff and the IGK has gotten great reviews so I’m happy to try it out. Lastly, the Black Opium is a great perfume and I will gladly take another sample of that. So this looks like another great box!

Just plain bad! Not even close to my profile!
Seriously, TWO oil based products in one box??? Sephora, step up your game.
Very disappointing.

I honestly don’t think they ever consider the profile. My friend and I have the same things in our profile and always get a different box.

Agreed. So disappointed. 3rd month in a row.

042 is an AWEFUL box. My play boxes went from so excited to get and better than ipsy to I hate everything in this box. 2 hai oils and primers they have sent out before. Come on Sephora. I have hated every fuchsia lip color and now yet another one. The Oaui spray may be ok but the rest, yuck. I guess they want me to cancel

I think they want me to cancel too.
This will be my last box. But I’m still keeping my iPsy subscription!

This is the box I wanted. Completely happy. I am about out of the Fab primer. I have another deluxe size I’ve been using so works for me.

This is my box, and I’m disappointed about the entire thing. Did they even look at our profiles? I have naturally very oily skin, despite a gentle and balanced skin care routine (before anyone asks), as well as fine and oily hair. Not to mention, do we need two primers and two hair oils in one box? I do like Black Opium, but… I like it so much, I already own a bottle! Will be giving this entire box to my mom, who has dry skin and will probably love these products.

Always happy with Play. Guess I am easy to please.

I must be, too, lol. I’ve only been truly disappointed in one box I’ve got from them so far (the one that had the Smashbox primer in it), but every other one I’ve gotten has had some genuinely good items.

Exactly what I was thinking!! I always love play every month, that was also the only month I found underwhelming with the smashbox primer and black pencil eyeliner but I still ended up loving the Peter Thomas Roth moisturizer I received in that box (I think it was that box) so that made it fine with me. For $10, I don’t get why everybody gets so upset but yeah maybe I’m just easy to please too.

Box #42, and once again, Sephora did NOT disappoint! (I have no issues with multiple primers, nor hair products- and I have really wanted to try to Ouai hair oil!) I think my boxes are on point only because I filled not only the basic survey but the detailed one (“rate on a scale of 1 to 5”) for my profile. (Which seems kind of annoying when you are doing it, but I have not had a single box that was a miss.)

I’m getting 42 and I really wanted 83. 😰😭 I’m so tired of getting primer.

I am getting box 83 and I would swap my kdub, curl cream, and tan pads, for the dry shampoo, lovesick and pore professional or sea spray. I have fine, wavy hair and I don’t wear bright colored lippys.

Poo…I wanted this one. I’m dying to try the igk and it fits my profile. Still no spoiler on #091???? Grrrrr. The items left don’t fit my profile so I’m confused. Sheesh. It’ll probably be the one with the klorane (hate dry shampoos, and I’m getting this in fill size in my FabFitFun) and the don’t blow it cream they’ve already sent me. I emailed them complaining about get 3 repeat samples this year and the grande lips being broken…and no reply, so I’m bummed.

Quite a few of us who are getting 042 are happy with this, actually, and think it fits us pretty well. 💁🏻 I’m one of those people.

And this is why I’m cancelling Play!
Although I’m happy with majority of my samples this month – esp. the fragrance & NOT getting sea salt or dry shampoo!
I have curly hairs, so the Brigeo would’ve been more than appropriate & the lipstick shade is beyond HORRID.

seriously. this is such a disappointing box. there’s no way i’m touching the k-dub shade. just….no. i cancelled and went back to ipsy today.

This is my box as well and I’d also like to swap for #059.
I just cancelled my subscription. I’m 44 years old, have porcelain / translucent skin, and I’m a SAHM. The fact they gave me KVD in “K-Dub” instead of “Lovesick” is beyond ridiculous. Not to mention a haircare product “inspired by the international jet set kids”. Yes, that’s totally the look and lifestyle I’m going for at this point in life. It seems I’m swapping at least half of every box lately, and I have two entire boxes up for sale on eBay. I’d rather take the money and buy one thing I’d actually use, than pay the postage and take the time to mail 3-4 products to someone else every month in swaps!

This box is a total miss for me. I have oily hair and oily skin, so why do they keep sending me oil products? And 2 in one box? WTH Sephora???
Reply
Jennifer
This exactly. I truly regret ever signing up for this box. This is the second box I will be getting and the second box that I have absolutely no use for any single thing I it.
First time I’ve ever cancelled a subscription without any regrets.
Other than Ipsy, which I am totally loving right now (man did they step up their game!), what is another $10 beauty box that is actually worth it?
Reply
Kristina
I’m also getting this box and I have VERY oily skin, so I’m extremely disappointed. I might even cancel because they clearly aren’t listening to our needs based on our profiles.

Mikayla
I have oily hair but I still use oil just on my ends! Works great especially after dying my hair or on the rare days I use heat to dry curl or straighten. I also have combo/oily skin so I won’t use the oil on my face but I love body oils for silky smooth legs! So excited for this!

Nicole
…because 9 out of 10 people with oily hair or skin are guilty of stripping all of the oil from their skin or hair thus causing overproduction of oil in order to compensate for it?

Lacy
This is my box and I really want 059 if anybody wants to swap!!

All I wanted was the Ouai spray. Everything else will be up for swaps. I may try the coconut hair product but it didn’t get the best reviews
