BarkBox is a monthly subscription box for dogs. It’s one of our favorite subscription boxes – our dog loves it, and we’ve gifted it to dogs in our extended family as well!
BarkBox customizes your box to your dog’s size. For reference, this review is for the small size (our dog weighs 14 pounds). Check out Ragan's April review of the super chewer box!

Every BarkBox has a theme - and this one was themed like a Western - The Good, The Bad, and The Pugly!
It comes with a little insert card. While it doesn't show off your box contents (you can find more details about that on the site and app), it does provide a fun little photo opportunity for your pup!
He was not in the mood to stop for a shot! I'm surprised we even got his face in the frame!
Ok - on to the items!
There's a Chew Sheriff in Town - Value $12
The app is showing a price of $12 - but it's only $10 in the BarkShop.
my favorite part about this plush cowboy hat? The fashion and toy use!
Buckles was giving me 'til the count of 10 to get him a tasty treat.
He did really enjoy both toys this month - it was a big month for plush toys in Buckles' world! It's got a squeaker in the top of the hat and is a good size for our dog.
Sheriff Doc Howliday the Heggie - Value $8
BarkBox is totally corning the market on the cutest-ever dog toys - this lil' Hedgehog takes the cake.
Doc is perfectly bit size for our 14-pound pup!
He was just too excited about this little toy - he didn't want to give it up during the photo shoot! Like the cowboy hat, this one has a squeaker in the hedgehog's belly.
Beefy Brisket Bites - Value $6
On top of the toys, we received a one-off treat and two bags of treats - the first was sure to be a favorite - Beefy Brisket Bites.
The little paw print bites were a little larger than expected - so one treat a day is probably the max for Buckles.
And he'll take that one treat right now!
Yumzies Hickory Bacon - Value $8
The second bag of treats are little hickory bacon flavored squares.
These are more along the lines of the size of treat that is perfect for Buckles - plus they're grain-free.
Once I saw that all of the treats were beef, cheese, and bacon flavored - I knew that he'd be VERY into them - so this was no surprise.
Lamb Burger Chew - Value $4
I could be more happy to see that the last item in the box wasn't a bully stick or rawhide chew - instead, this month we received a lamb patty.
It's a chewy treat as well - easy to break apart to give small portions.
He snagged it so quickly that we couldn't even get a shot of the original piece!
Verdict: This has been my favorite BarkBox of 2017 - maybe even ever - in terms of our dog loving everything in the box. The toys were cute, plush, and bite size - and the treats were all soft and non-rawhide. A big win for Buckles this month!
