This promo info came with the box. I love the idea of a grocery subscription, especially for things I have to get every month anyway!

Soylent Coffiest, 14 fl oz - Value $9.99

I heard about Soylent when it first came out—essentially, Soylent seeks to be the ultimate meal replacement for busy folks who can't find time to eat (or eat well). It contains plant-based nutrients that equal the nutrition you should be getting from well-balanced meals each day. It's a little space age and strikes me as taking all the fun out of eating. But efficiency-minded friends of mine and folks who are working 'round the clock seem to love the idea of taking the "guesswork" of what to (and not to) eat.

I didn't realize that Soylent had branched out into different flavors and sub-sets of their original, all-purpose potion. For instance, this sample is of "Coffiest", their breakfast-focused coffee-flavored recipe. Each bottle contains soy protein, Algal oil, coffee, caffeine, and L-theanine to help get your brain moving first thing in the morning.

I didn't think this tasted all that coffee-ish. In fact, if I had to liken it to anything, it'd probably be the vaguely sweet, slightly thick milk that's left in the bowl after you eat a bowl of Wheaties. No seriously, though! It legitimately smells like wheat in the bottle, and the flavor tastes really similar. Of course, I don't really think fans of drink Soylent are in it for the flavor—it's more about the efficiency of the nutrition.

Bai Kohala Kola, 11.5 fl oz - Value $1.99 (Buy a pack of 12 for $23.88 on Amazon)

I'm excited to try Bai's take on cola! It's apparently got some antioxidants mixed in, has no sugar nor artificial sweeteners and is only 5 calories. In other words, it's better for you than typical colas in more ways than one.

Vegan, non-GMO, Kosher, gluten-free, soy free, low glycemic—this seems like a great option for health-conscious folks looking to satisfy their soda cravings.

As someone who's used to drinking mainstream sodas, I found this concoction to be a little mild, almost like a diet soda might taste. It doesn't have that intense saccharine taste that comes from artificial sweeteners, but you can tell that the sweetener isn't that great, rich, real sugar flavor. If you're someone with a real diet cola habit, I feel like you could easily swap this caffeinated cola in, swap the artificial stuff out, and not feel cheated of the flavor and fizziness you love.

Fiji Natural Artesian Water, 11.15 fl oz - Value $1.05 (Buy a pack of 36 for $37.63 on Amazon)

This tiny bottle of Fiji water is so cute! Amidst all the samples of sweet, boldly flavored beverages in this box, this simple bottle of crisp, clean water is (literally) quite refreshing.

It seems weird to get picky about how different waters taste, but I do tend to like Fiji water more than other brands. It's got a really simple, clean taste that isn't too crisp or taste all mineral-ish or oddly metallic.

Apart from that, there's not too much else I can say. Hey, it's water! But also, water is great, and everyone should probably drink more. If anything, getting this little bottle was a good reminder that maybe I should add some water to my cart in my next Amazon haul!

Blue Sky Soda Zero Sugar Cola, 12 fl oz - Value $1.76 (Buy a 24 pack for $42.20 on Amazon)

This soda, sweetened with stevia, is similar to the Bai cola in flavor, but it leans a bit more on the savory side of soda flavor, though, if that makes sense? It's more flavor, less sweetness.

Check out what's inside the Amazon Beverage Sample Box for June 2017!

I think the stevia flavor popped out a bit more in this soda. It's not my favorite, but again, I think it'd be fine and not as noticeable to diet soda lovers.

It was nice and fizzy, though—moreso than the other drinks were. Most of the fun of soda is the bubbles, so I was happy to hear this cola fizzing vivaciously in my glass!

Hansen's Natural Ginger Ale, 12 fl oz - Value $0.58 (Buy a pack of 24 for $13.92 on Amazon)

Ooo, I love ginger ale. This ginger ale is made from cane sugar and natural flavors, which sounded awesome.

Check out what's inside the Amazon Beverage Sample Box for June 2017!

Some ginger ales are so sharp with ginger flavor that they're almost too intense for me. But this one was deliciously sweet with just enough kick.

Drinking this light, refreshing ginger ale makes me want to try it in a summer cocktail. This is a product I could totally see myself looking for and buying on my own in the future!

Monster Rehab Peach Tea + Energy, 15.5 fl oz - Value $1.80 (Buy a 24 pack for $43.19 on Amazon)

Oh man, energy drinks really aren't my thing. I get enough of a rush drinking a cold brew in the morning—drinking energy drinks would probably set me over the edge!

Check out what's inside the Amazon Beverage Sample Box for June 2017!

For that reason, this is my first-ever Monster drink. I just had a few sips, so I didn't really get the rush of energy (which I didn't mind).

Check out what's inside the Amazon Beverage Sample Box for June 2017!

I was surprised, though, that this peach tea flavor really wasn't half bad. The peach flavor is refreshingly sweet, but not too sweet. This is the opposite of the other natural drinks in the box in terms of ingredients. But if you're looking for a summery flavor to swap in for your morning (or maybe even afternoon) coffee, this is a tasty option!

V8 Energy Blackberry Cranberry, 12 fl oz - Value $2.38 (Buy a pack of 12 for $28.51 on Amazon)

Whoa, I didn't realize V8 made energy drinks!

Check out what's inside the Amazon Beverage Sample Box for June 2017!

This berry-flavored drink doesn't have any artificial colors nor flavors, but it does contain a whole serving of fruit or veggies and B and C vitamins!

Check out what's inside the Amazon Beverage Sample Box for June 2017!

This drink tastes like a refreshing berry juice. It's got the slightest fizz to it, too, which is fun. It felt like the most summer-appropriate drink in the box. I doubt this complements the healthfulness of this drink, but once again, I'm eager to see what these flavors could bring to an icy cocktail on a hot day!

Verdict: I thought this box was really fun! I definitely discovered a lot of brands I didn't know about before and tried flavors I hadn't experienced before. Even though I didn't love everything, I do appreciate that they included a wide variety of flavors and types of beverages—it'd probably be really popular to share with your family. I estimated the value as being $19.55 (mostly thanks to the high price of the Soylent drink), and especially since customers get the $9.99 cost back as a credit (and since shipping is free for Prime members), I think it's definitely worth it.

This is a little late but I just wanted to ask if the Soylent gave anyone gas. I read a few articles about this product when they recalled it a few years ago. I thought it was funny that a meal replacement company would name there product Soylent for obvious reasons. I know I read more than one article about a person trying it out and having horrendously bad smelling gas (this was not related to the recall). It’s just sitting in my refrigerator. It would be a very convenient breakfast on the go. I’m just afraid of the horrible smelling gas.

I purchased the other beverage box on amazon prime. It has 8 drinks and it was super awesome. Check it out!

Coffiest breaks down to $3.25 a bottle on the Soylent website and even cheaper if you subscribe. 🙂

Whoa! That’s a great tip, HT! Thanks for sharing – sounds like Coffiest fans should look into going direct to the source!

Your review made me go and purchase the box! I’m excited to try the monster, the v8, and the ginger ale! I’m especially impressed that if I like the ginger ale (which I most likely will based on your description), I’ll only pay 4$ after the credit is applied! I’m not going to touch that soylent with a 10 foot pole, however, and I hate the artificial taste of sweeteners in diet sodas, so I will be staying away from both colas.

Soylent grosses me out, I got it in a Vegan Cuts box (the vanilla flavor). I would rather just get my calories from food. I never have trouble figuring out what to eat, though, so maybe I am not the target audience.

Soylent reminds me of the old movie called Soylent Green where we have run out of food and trun deap people into crackers to eat called Soylent Green. They should have come up with another name, I couldn’t drink it because it would make me think I was drinking dead people. ICKA

The only thing I’d be interested in the water. I really have no interest in this one.

I love soylent coffiest- it’s peferct for breakfast on the go when I have a busy morning. When I saw soylent in the box I had to grab one.

Lenya

I bought this box just so I could try Soylent Coffiest – I’m not a coffee drinker, so I LOVE the mild, slightly sweet taste and I was impressed by how alert and satisfied I felt for hours. It’s become my new go-to breakfast, I am almost done with my first case and just ordered a second!

Anna Reilly

Oh, that’s a cool point, Lenya – if you’re not really looking for a full-blown coffee flavor, the Coffiest could be just fine for a morning meal replacement. I feel like I’ll have to try it again sometime without worrying about how coffee-ish it is 🙂 Thanks for sharing!!

Anne

I love the Coffiest too. The chocolate one also tastes good to me, but I won’t drink the plain one. I have yet to try the nectar one? Anyone try that one yet?

Zo

I purchased this and was really happy with the variety. I’ve been wanting to try many of these items. I do like Monster rehab and while I don’t drink them often (about 1 every other month) the peach is my favorite. I’ll probably use my credit to buy them if I can get a 10 pack. I haven’t tried the soylent but appreciate your review. In grade school, for some odd reason, one of the nuns made us watch “Soylent Green”. Freaked me out so much that I won’t touch anything with soylent in the name.

Robin

That’s the first thing I thought of when I saw “soylent”. I’m surprised they picked that name.

Tracey

I agree 3! haha! that’s what I thought of when I saw soylent.
