Betty Contour Bra in Black, Size 36B
When picking my first-ever Adore Me set, I wanted to get something that was a little bit practical, but kind of fun and special, too. I found a surprising amount of options to scroll through—there are so many cuts and colors to pick from, including casual and fancier, sexy styles. Ultimately, I picked this “Betty” bra (of course I picked a black bra—that’s always my default), which toes the line between a regular bra and a balconette. It’s a little bit va-va-voom, but I feel like I could wear it under an everyday sleeveless top without it feeling too fancy.
There are cups on this bra, but they’re not really padded. I will say, though, that I was pleasantly surprised by how the balconette-esque cut of the bra made things look a little more voluminous than usual. I was also really impressed by just how comfortable this bra is. There’s a smidge of boning on either side and a sturdy underwire, but the slightly wider straps and stretch-lace sides make this a surprisingly easy piece to wear.
It also helps that the quality of the fabric feels really nice. The body of the bra is satiny smooth, which not only feels great but looks sophisticated and pretty, too.
The lace has a bit of stretch to it and forms a band that’s on the wider side. I love that since it limits how much the bra can pinch into me!
Betty Cheeky Panties in Black, Size L
The corresponding undies are awesome, too! The same fabrics appear here, which make for a comfortable, sleek experience.
The entire back of these undies are lace, which lays nicely against my skin. The edges did pinch in a slight bit, and the undies could’ve been a smidge wider, I think (I’m a hippy gal—I wear a 10 in jeans and would call myself a bottom-heavy hourglass—I like some extra wiggle room). Maybe next time, I’ll try the extra large size and see how that goes. But these are far from too small—they fit fine, I just get picky about waistbands and VPLs. With the right outfit, like a flowy skirt or some jeans, these will be perfect!
Verdict: I’m really impressed with my first Adore Me experience! It was really fun to browse all of the pretty pieces the site has to offer, and I loved that I didn’t have to physically sift through a ton of tangled underwear just to (maybe) find my size (shooting you a hard side-eye here, mall underwear stores). The set I received was pretty comfortable and made me feel sexy and cute in a subtle, kind of retro way. I’m a little worried about the well-being of these delicate lacy bits, being that my laundering happens at the laundromat up the street. Now that I’m growing a collection of legit lingerie (rather than my usual arsenal of cotton undies), I’ll have to switch up my process. Luckily, Adore Me gives care tips on its site! For $39.95 (and free shipping!), I feel like I got a full set of special, high-quality pieces. I can’t wait to shop next month (especially because the summer swim collection will be live)!
