Honest Company Diapers & Wipes Subscription Review May 2017: Everything we received in this month's box

Honest Company Diaper bundles are always huge since they have enough (or more than enough) for a month! Here's what I got in my May delivery.

If you're not familiar with this subscription, here are the basics: You always get 6 packs of diapers and 4 packs of wipes each month. For the diapers, you can select your favorite patterns, and Honest will randomly pick for you depending on what's available. You can swap in Overnight Diapers or Pull-Up style diapers for any of the 6 packs. You can even change the size on just some of the diapers, and you can also add on extra products for a 25% discount.

This month though, we had a couple of minor hiccups. Honest issued a voluntary recall for some lots of their baby wipes due to possible mold. While they address those issues, the wipes are temporarily out of stock and they've instead issued a $15 discount on this bundle and a $10 credit toward a future order:

Dear Lacey,

We are emailing to let you know that we are currently experiencing a delay in the manufacturing of our wipes. Your current bundle is shipping without wipes, however, we know diapers are a necessity and do not want you to run out, so rest assured your diapers are still shipping.

Please accept our sincerest apologies, and for the inconvenience, we have discounted your bundle $15 and in addition, we have added a credit of $10* to your account to be used toward a future product order.

As a member of the Honest family, your satisfaction means the world to us and we're always committed to bringing you trusted and effective products. Please don't hesitate to reach out to customer service at 1-888-862-8818 or support@honest.com with any questions or concerns.

*Credit expires on December 31, 2017

With Delight,
The Honest Team

Honest really went above and beyond in addressing this in my opinion - $25 total in credit is a nice gesture for a missing item that usually retails for $18.95.

If you've read my previous Honest reviews, you know that I always have an overstock of wipes. I actually laughed to myself when I got this email because it was the perfect answer to 'what am I going to do with all these wipes this month'! None of the wipes I've received were affected by the recall, so I still have five unopened packages that I can use this month.

Honest Company Diapers & Wipes Subscription Review May 2017: Honest Overnight Diapers

1 packs of Honest Overnight Diapers, size 6 - Regularly $13.95/pack ($0.63/diaper), save 22% with subscription

My ever growing, ever changing 2-year-old has dropped his before-bed bottle. While I'm lamenting how fast he's growing up, the upside is that we never have leaks overnight anymore!

Honest Company Diapers & Wipes Subscription Review May 2017: Detail of Honest Overnight Diapers

I still find myself telling our babysitters, "Sheep are for sleep!" to remind them to use an overnight diaper when putting him to bed. These aren't always my favorite overnight diapers, but for the convenience of including them with my regular shipment, I'm very happy with them!

Honest Company Diapers & Wipes Subscription Review May 2017: Regular diapers

5 packs of Honest Diapers, sizes 5 and 6 - Total Value $69.75. Regularly $13.95/pack ($0.63/diaper), save 22% with subscription

I think we've finally officially grown into the size 6 diapers now, but something didn't save properly when I updated my bundle, and I still ended up with size 5 and 6. Honest does allow returns and exchanges on bundle products, but it's not worth the added time to me since he can still fit into the 5 as well.

For a toddler, I find that 5 packs of regular diapers and 1 pack of overnights last us about 5 weeks. I sometimes run out of overnights before I run out of regular diapers, so every couple months I try to pick up an extra pack to have on hand, and it all works out.

Honest Company Diapers & Wipes Subscription Review May 2017: Cute prints on our diapers this month: Skulls, insects, space, and rainclouds

I went back to one of my old favorites this month, the skull print! Overall I am still loving these spring designs. My son has moved on from the rainclouds and now loves the insect print. 🙂 The prints are definitely a big part of the appear with Honest Company, they're so cute and make for great baby shower gifts.

I also selected an add-on product this month:

Honest Company Diapers & Wipes Subscription Review May 2017: Honest Co Dish Soap Honest Company Diapers & Wipes Subscription Review May 2017: Reverse side of dish soap

Honest Dish Soap, 24 oz – $3.95 ($2.96 with the add-on discount when you subscribe)

Unfortunately, this was my second hiccup of the month. I usually end up selecting an add-on product when I know my diapers are shipping soon, and I realize that I'm about to run out of some household item that I really need. It's usually super convenient!

I had added this dish soap to my bundle at the same time that I changed the delivery date, but then I remembered my husband was picking some up, so I updated it to get more bubble bath instead.

I must have encountered a weird timing issue between when I made my update and when my bundle actually shipped, because I ended up getting billed for the bubble bath, but received the dish soap. (You'll also notice all the diapers in my order above are for size 6, too!)

I chatted Honest Customer Service when I realized the issue and was connected to someone right away. It took a few minutes to explain my problem. I initially asked if they could just refund me for the price difference between the $11.95 bubble bath and the $3.95 dish soap, but they offered to send a replacement instead. That's fine in my book!

(For what it's worth, I really like their dish soap and have found that it works better than the cheap brand we usually buy at Aldi, plus I'm way happier with the fragrance and the ingredients.)

Verdict: It's unfortunate that we had two customer service issues this month, one that affected lots of subscribers and one that affected just me. In both cases, though, Honest was upfront and I think handled things well. All major subscription services are going to run into an issue once in awhile, so for me, it really comes down to how they address it with their customers.

In general, between automating our diapers and being able to add last minute items to my order, this subscription is such a time saver for our family. The formulations of the products I've tried (like the wipes, diaper cream, healing ointment, and bubble bath) have all been great for us as well. The products are a little more expensive than other brands, but for me, it's worth the peace of mind about the ingredients and the overall ease of managing my subscription.

I just can’t pull the trigger on this company. Too many contamination issues with their manufacturing and broken promises about being chemical free. I don’t want to risk it with my baby. Nope! And especially not for these prices. I can find more trustworthy all natural brands.

Too many problems with Honest quality. Latest recall on moldy wipes.
