I’m reviewing both the Watch of the Month Club and Watch Gang Black subscription tiers!

Each month features a specific brand for their Watch Gang Black tier – April featured Citizen watches. For the lower price point, you would receive a watch from Rousseau, Eberle, Picard & Cie, Bernoulli, Saxon, Argenti, Stuka, or Firebird.

Watch Gang Black

Citizen Eco-Drive Super Titanium Watch – Retail $325 ($177 on Amazon)

Watch Gang Black featured a sleek, lower profile, Citizen watch.

The watch face and body are simple and efficient. You’ll be able to set the date and day along with the time.

I love that it’s not too big and keeps a low profile.

It comes with a genuine leather band – I’m betting there are some variations to the band and watch face color – but I was very happy with my selection!

Watch of the Month Club

Argenti Typhoeus Watch – Retail $299 on Amazon and Walmart

For the lower tier option, you’ll be sent one of a few options – I got the Argenti Typhoeus.

It’s LARGE. The housing of the watch is 1/4 inch thick, which might not sound like much but it really stand out as gigantic.

Again, this strap is also genuine leather. While it’s a nice watch, it definitely not my style – but it was fun to try.

Verdict: This subscription is right up my alley since I always imagine myself wearing watches, and then only wear the watch for a week or two before abandoning it (Apple Watch included). So, I’m totally game to try out different watches and brands – which is the perfect subscriber for this subscription. I really like my Citizen watch – and I also like that you’ll know the brand with Watch Gang Black, it takes a bit of risk out of it, but at a higher price. The lower tier was good value for cost, but also ended up not being my style of watch. Either way – it was a fun subscription for someone like me!

  1. If you subscribe to the cheaper option, expect a CHEAP and ugly watch. Also don’t complain or you will get harassed by Matthew’s legion of loyal keyboard warriors. Overall this is a miserable experience.

  2. Will you be continuing to review Watch Gang tiers 1, 2, and 3 now or was this a one time review?

    • It’s all nice until you get lied too, by the customer service and Matthew Gallagher forces you to cancel your subscription

  3. I think this is a pretty great idea for a sub. I would love to know the brand in advance and have a skip the month’ option, but it’s still pretty cool. I’m assuming/hoping it’s gender neutral. I’d wear both and I’m a female. I like slender and smaller styles but also big watches. I actually liked both a lot. Thanks for reviewing 🙂

  4. Eric, do you know if you’re told the brand of the higher tier in advance? I might be willing to blindly order a watch if I know the brand, but there are so many brands/styles out there, and some are not good bets for me/my guy…
