The Glamorous Chicks Beauty Box is a monthly subscription box from Glamorous Chicks Cosmetics, producers of lots of fun colors of lipstick, loose powder pigments, cosmetic glitter, and more, in lots of fun, bold, and sometimes unconventional colors.

My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

The Subscription Box: Glamorous Chicks Beauty Box

The Cost: $25 (new: save with longer subscriptions)

The Products: 3 Glamorous Chicks beauty products of your choice, including loose mineral pigments, liquid lipsticks, loose glitter, and more, as well as a few extras (sometimes from other brands). Occasionally there may be products from up-and-coming brands, as well.

Good to Know: Glamorous Chicks recently updated the process for selecting items for the monthly subscription box. They now send you a link to a page with subscription-eligible items and a code for “free” products plus shipping (“free” in that you check out from the store regularly using the code, but you have already paid your monthly subscription fee).

Ships to: U.S. (was free when I signed up; some MSA readers are reporting a $3.99 shipping charge for new sign-ups)

Sometimes you’ll get a card with example lipstick colors. It’s more promotional material than information card. It also contains a coupon code for shop purchases.

Glamorous Chicks is a pretty small company and all their employees were traveling/at trade shows for a good chunk of March, so the subscription emails went out late. This is a review of the box I received in March.

Glamorous Chicks Lipstick in Wintergreen – Value $14.99

Sometimes with this subscription, I choose everyday-wearable sorts of colors but sometimes I go for the crazier ones, just so you can see the full range of what they have available. These lipsticks have a great formula – they’re non-drying and the color lasts a very long time.

Eye Shadow Brush – Value $1?

There are always a few extras in addition to the items you choose. We get these eye shadow brushes fairly often, but I don’t mind – having more brushes means I have to clean brushes less often. These are pretty good for eyelids as well as highlighting the brow bone.

Glamorous Chicks Lip Gloss in Ember – Value $11.99

I got this product in a purple color last month and it was so fun. So I decided to try a different color this month. I’m not sure orange glitter counts as everyday wearable, but it’s fun for the weekend. This product also lasts quite a long time once applied.

Glamorous Chicks Matte Liquid Lipstick in Crazy in Love – Value $16.99

This was one of my surprise items this month. (Surprise items are often other Glamorous Chicks products in full size.) As a matte liquid lipstick, this is a little drying, but paired with a gloss it is really pretty and comfortable to wear. The color is a beautiful purple that this photo doesn’t really do justice to.

Glamorous Chicks Lip Gloss in Snowstorm – Value $14.99

I wasn’t sure how I would be using this product until it arrived. It is a thick, moisturizing gloss. I am not sure I want to go around with white lips (yes, I know I chose it…), so I’ve played with layering it. If paired with a liquid lipstick or a lip stain, this makes the color into an interesting pastel.

Here are swatches of this month’s products.

Verdict: I calculated a value of about $60 for this month’s Glamorous Chicks Beauty Box. That is more than double the cost of the subscription. What I like about this subscription is that you are supporting a small business and that there is very little risk involved because you choose the majority of your items every month. (This subscription is probably best for people who like bold makeup colors, however, as the surprise items are likely to be quite vibrant.) The products also have good formulas and they have colors that are hard to find elsewhere, especially for lip products.

I would love it if you would show some of these on your lips. Just a lip picture would be fine. I can’t quite picture how they will look on. I love the bold colors and am so curious!

Sorry, I had the world’s worst sinus infection when I received this box (actually it is like a week later and I still have it). My mouth was all gummy and my nose was red and inflamed and even makeup couldn’t really hide it. I kind of didn’t want myself displayed on the internet in that state.

What about the requisite photo of Angus unboxing the products? Why do you think we click on all your reviews? LOL

I don’t remember where he was for this one. Probably eating. He is getting tubby and I’m going to have to start limiting his food soon.
