The Birchbox Draper James Limited Edition Box is one of the latest Limited Edition box from Birchbox! (This is available to everyone – not just Birchbox subscribers.)

My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

The Box: Birchbox Draper James Limited Edition Box

The Cost: $58

COUPON: Use code FIRST15 to save 15% off your first Birchbox purchase and get free shipping on $50+ orders! (Not valid for subscriptions).

And don’t forget to add your free mystery sample pack!

The Products:

Each box comes with a sheet of paper detailing all the items included:

And there’s a coupon for your first Draper James purchase:

Now, onto the items!

Draper James makeup pouch – Value $20?

(I’m estimating value since this is an exclusive item available only in the box.)

It’s a good size (larger than your standard ipsy bag), and the material is waterproof so it’s great for wiping up any makeup spills.

The inside is lined, too.

Draper James trinket tray (Exclusive) – Value $18

(Price from a similar tray.)

This ceramic tray has a gold accent, and enough depth to make it a good catchall for rings and other small jewelry items:

It measures 3 by 3 inches.

Grab & Go Pony Tube – Value $12

I love this hair tie tube! It’s my second set from this brand, and I can confirm that they are great. No hair damage!

Super wearable colors for me, too.

Lipstick Queen Eden Lipstick – FULL SIZE! Value $28

I wasn’t expecting this, but there is a little sparkle in this lipstick formula:

It has a semi-sheer, semi-matte finish, so you can dial it back if this is too bold a red for you. Here it is swatched:

(Fortunately for me, the sparkle isn’t too noticeable when on.)

Smashbox Indecent Exposure Mascara – FULL SIZE! Value $23

This is my favorite mascara discovery this past month! The formula gave my lashes excellent length, and the lash separation was excellent, too. I was able to apply multiple layers with zero clumping.

(And the wand base is flocked! It feels like velvet!)

Benefit Cosmetics The POREfessional Face Primer – 7.5 ml (Mini) Value $12

This primer is a classic I’ve sampled many times before. The formula feels super smooth on my skin and does a great job of temporarily filling in pores so that they look invisible.

(And I was excited to see that this is over double the size of the regular Benefit POREfessional sample!)

Sunday Riley Martian Mattifying Melting Water-Gel Toner – 8 ml Value $3.40

Sunday Riley is a luxe beauty brand that doesn’t show up in subscription boxes often, so I was excited to try this. It’s a toner gel that’s designed to absorb oil (shine), and minimize the appearance of pores.

Unfortunately for me, this didn’t really mattify my skin. I couldn’t notice a difference in shine after using it. (It looks like the reviews on this product are mixed, too. So, it may work for you, but it didn’t work for me!)

Living proof. Restore Instant Protection Spray – 60 ml Value $17

I’ve been using my beachwaver a lot lately, so I’m in need of this product! It provides a fine mist for heat protection for your hair. You can apply it on damp or dry hair, and also reapply to dry hair for SPF protection. The scent is lovely and subtle, and it added no weight to my hair.

Bioderma Sensibio H2O – 100 ml Value $4.40

This makeup remover is fragrance-free, and feels like water on your skin – it’s super gentle. It also does a great job of removing makeup! The spout is a perfect size for q-tips, too, if you need some precision removal.

Dr. Jart+ Pore Minimalist Black Charcoal Sheet – Value $7.50

This is the first charcoal sheet mask I’ve tried, and to be honest, I couldn’t tell a difference from this and most other sheet masks! It did leave my skin feeling super hydrated, though!

And lastly, don’t forget to add your free mystery sample pack to any Birchbox order of $35 or more!

Here are the two samples I received:

Whish Shave Cream

L’Oreal Mythic Oil

(I won’t count these toward the value of the box since the samples vary.)

Verdict: This box has a value of about $145! I think that’s a pretty good value for a $58 box. (And even better with the 10% off HELLO coupon code – making this box about $52.) Almost every item is a hit for me, too. (I really love that mascara!)

What do you think of the Birchbox Draper James Limited Edition Box?

Birchbox ($15 per month) was one of the very first beauty subscription boxes—we’ve been reviewing it since 2012! Each month, subscribers get a new mix of 5 beauty samples, such as makeup, skincare, haircare, and fragrance items. Birchbox lets you choose whether you’d like a box of items picked just... read more.

What about the ouai treatment mask?

Liz, I have to ask- is the beach waver worth it? And is it easy to use?

Liz Cadman

It’s pricey, but I pretty much use it every day, so it’s been worth it to me. It took a few tries to get the hang of it, but it is super easy to use. (I am hair styling challenged, so I feel comfortable saying if I can do it, anyone can do it!)

I have the BEACHWAVER® S1.25 ($129.) I used it on my hair in the pictures in this review:

I’d recommend going with the S series and not the (more expensive) Pro series if you’re considering it. The S Series works fine for me!

Hope that helps a bit!

This is what I came here to ask too 🙂 My hair doesn’t usually hold a curl too well but reviews on Amazon say this works for people with similar hair. Really? Im always a little skeptical.

Amber P

If you haven’t tried curling your hair with a hair straightener I would suggest trying that first! I have fine hair that doesn’t hold any kind of curl/wave and when I use a straightener to curl it will hold even w/o hair spray. YouTube has great tutorials on how to do it.

My hair is a few inches past my shoulders, thick and dry (I am Hispanic) and I use the beachwaver. The problem I find is that even the 1.25 barrel isn’t big enough for me. I use it and have good results, but it does take a while because of the narrow barrel. It does take a bit to get used to but it does work well and I’m pleased with my purchase. My daughter has hair more like Liz’s in terms of length and is more fine. Her hair is a breeze to use on. It depends on the type of hair you have. Also, if you spray your hair well enough the curls last the next day. I don’t fluff them, I curl, spray, and let them fall naturally.

The box itself is really pretty!

I also got the mythic LOreal in my free sample with purchase, and I was surprised to see such a low end brand.

Ive got this shaving cream and mythic sample in my last FOUR gifts with purchase. (I dont use a rasor and dont enjoy receiving low end brands aside from my my target and walmart boxes)

I have gotten it with every single one of my last 4 purchases from Birchbox and the last order included this and another foil, no deluxe sample. Come on Birchbox!

Hahha just read this. I feel you!
