Now, onto the items!

Jean Pierre Vitamin C Sheet Mask - Value $2

Beauty-box-five-april-2017-0009

This sheet mask was hydrating, and while I didn't love leaving it on for 15 minutes, my skin definitely looked refreshed when I took it off!

Did Hair Gold Bobby Pins - Retail Value Listed $6.50

Beauty-box-five-april-2017-0011

Confession - I'm not much of a bobby pin wearer. I do love all things gold, though! (These are a nice staple to include in the box for most subscribers. I will likely donate them.)

Be A Bombshell Blush in Cougar - FULL SIZE! Value $6

Beauty-box-five-april-2017-0018

This shade is described as a "shimmering bronze."

Beauty-box-five-april-2017-0019

It reads a little pinker than I would expect for a bronze color. (Which I prefer for a blush.) And the shimmer is pretty subtle, too. Here it is swatched:

Beauty-box-five-april-2017-0020

It was easy to blend out for a hint of color, too.

BB5 Highlighter Fan Brush - Retail Value Listed $12

Beauty-box-five-april-2017-0016

While I always like getting makeup brushes in subscription boxes, I wasn't too impressed with the quality of the bristles on this one. The brush feels a little lower in quality than brushes I'm used to at the similar price point. It's good to have in a pinch as a backup brush, but nothing too exciting.

Sweep Rose Gold Lash Curler - Retail Value Listed $16

Beauty-box-five-april-2017-0012

This lash curler is on par with my other eyelash curlers in terms of quality. I like the rose gold color, too.

Beauty-box-five-april-2017-0014

I'm guessing you could get a similar quality eyelash curler at half the listed value, though.

Verdict: This month's Beauty Box 5 has a retail value of about $42.50. I think that's good for a $12 box, though this box wasn't a great fit for me. Also, I was hoping for at least one gold makeup item considering the theme was Stay Golden!

What do you think about the April Beauty Box 5? Did you like that this box was more beauty tools than beauty products?

FYI - If you sign up for a Beauty Box 5 subscription by the 21st of a month, you'll get that month's box as your first box.

I got a beautiful pink shade of blush in my box- Spoiled- but unfortunately it was broken and a complete powder leaking out of the box like some others have experienced. They quickly sent a replacement but the color is called Tan-orexic – which I find to be a pretty insensitive name, and I’m sure will be too dark for me.

I got spoiled and it’s way too light for me. We should trade. Lol

I received mine yesterday. I’m usually pretty easy to please with these boxes, but this one left me feeling meh. I kept the sheet mask, but gave away everything else. This box is hit and miss, but can’t beat the price.

Mine arrived today. The fan brush’s bristles are bent from the way it was squished into the box, hopefully they straighten out, and the bombshell
Blush leaked all over inside it’s box and then some. I got the color tanorexic. I won’t bother to complain to them as I already cancelled any future orders.

Ha! I finally got a shipping notice today!

Mine arrived a few days ago.

Thanks. Good to know they are finally starting to ship.

Agreed, I tried emailing them but get no response, no tracking number & sub renews in 4 days.

Jeannie

Has anyone gotten theirs yet? Besides MSA, of course. They always seem to get their boxes before anyone else.

I have not got mine yet. This month seems like a bad month, many of my boxes delayed – Sisley, Beauteque, GlobeIn, BB5. They all sent me e-mail with shipping delay.

I still have not received my shipping confirmation and my account says “processing”. Just wondering what the holdup is since their FB says all boxes have shipped. I’m excited to try the blush and have a backup eyelash curler (I only have one & nothing to compare it to). The fan brush and bobby pins I’m neutral about. The sheet mask I’m not too thrilled about. I feel like I’m the only person who really doesn’t like sheet masks rn…they make my face sooo cold. Lol

My account has been in “processing” mode since April 1 and I haven’t gotten a box yet. I sent an email and changed my credit card thinking it may have expired? I would think that if it had, they would have sent me an email telling me so.

I read a good tip from an MSA commenter a while ago, that you can run the sheet mask (while still sealed in its packaging) under warm or hot water to warm up the mask. While I haven’t done this yet, I thought it was a great idea since I do sheet masks every week, but during the winter I always sort of dreaded putting that cool sheet mask on my face.

Oooh, I’m going to try that! I have a whole stash of them from sub boxes that I have put off using! Thanks for sharing!

Sharon

This was their response to me two days ago. I’m still waiting on tracking as well.

“Unfortunately the April boxes experienced a slight shipping delay this month due to unforeseen issues with our new system, and your patience is sincerely appreciated. We are scheduled to be back on track for the May shipments, and it looks like you are scheduled to receive your shipping confirmation email within the next few days.”

I got the same lame response 🙁

Melanie

I have not received shopping confirmation either and mine also still says processing. I prepaid for the whole year more than 6 months ago. They seem to ship later every month. It’s practically May already and my Lip Monthly which I also prepaid for the year says status in warehouse expected to ship April 8-15, but no updates. I’m getting concerned.

Tamara Dungan

Oops, that reply was for Sharon. I also prepaid for a year of BB5. I get Lip Monthly as well and received my April box on the 16th. I’d reach out to them if you haven’t already.

Tamara Dungan

I got the same 🙁

KimberlyB

I’ve always wondered this about various tools, and very much about eyelash curlers: what’s the difference between a $3 curler and one that’s $10 or more?

Same with brushes, tho I imagine part is softness of bristles and thickness of them. I can tell just from photos that this brush is a lot more sparse than the Crown fan brush that was in BoxyCharm a month or two ago.

That’s a really pretty shade of blush ,hope I get the same

I like it, too.

Oh good, now I’m excited to get my box again …lol blushes are one of the few things that I don’t have bunches of
