Taza Chocolate Cacao Crunch, 2.5 oz. – Value $4.59 (buy a single bar for $5 or a case of 10 bars for $45 on Taza)

The first treat this month is a full-size bar of Taza Chocolate. It is 80% dark stone ground chocolate, gluten-free, dairy-free, soy-free, and vegan. And delicious! There are 12, 1″ squares that I nibbled in small increments. The flavor is a tad bitter, but really good and although cane sugar and organic vanilla beans are the only sweet ingredients noted, there’s a taste of fruitiness I can’t pinpoint.

There is also a bit of crunch and grit to this chocolate, which I really enjoyed. Chocolate typically makes me the opposite of relaxed, so I have been eating in small doses.

Raw Food Central Kale Chips, 1.5 oz. – Value $6.99

The second snack is these organic, vegan, kosher, non-GMO, and gluten-free kale chips from Raw Food Central. Despite containing a lot of sodium, I found these chips to have a nice savory flavor. There is a strong raw vegetable taste, but I like knowing they are primarily made of organic ingredients. Aside from kale, you can taste cashew, sunflower seeds, garlic, and onion (raisin and lemon are also denoted as ingredients).

The chips are quite brittle and you can tell they have not been fried like the packaging claims. I’m not totally sure the process for making these since they’re not baked either. Regardless, they have remained fresh in this resealable and biodegradable bag.

Teapigs Chamomile Flowers Tea, 0.79 oz. – Value $5.95 (Teapigs sells a box of 15 tea temples for $9.99 or a box of 50 tea temples for $24.99)

I’m not a regular tea drinker, nor have I ever tried chamomile, however, this tea smells and tastes wonderful. It’s partly flowery, but I didn’t realize chamomile could taste so sweet. No additional sugar or sweetener is needed and I found this tea to be quite calming before bedtime.

Teapigs makes their tea with whole flowers, rather than crushing them during production, which I found interesting. It’s so beautiful!

Hugo Naturals Essential Body Mist, 4 fl oz. – Value $3.99

I received this vanilla and sweet orange scented body mist. It is 100% natural and can be used to hydrate your skin or hair, as well as freshening linens and fabrics. There is a nice balance between the vanilla and citrusy orange, but it’s a subtle scent and not overpowering at all. I’ve been spraying this on my pillowcase at night and the light scent lingers in the best way possible.

Herbal Essentials Lavender Towelettes, 20-pack – Value $14

The last item in this month’s Stress Less Box is a 20-pack of lavender scented towelettes. Each towelette is individually packaged, so it’s great to toss a few in my bag when on the go! Upon opening a packet, there was a strong odor – a mix of the lavender essential oil and I’m guesing Tween 20, which is the second and only other ingredient listed. I don’t particularly care for lavender smells, so this scent was a bit bothersome. The cloth itself is durable and thick and I found this to clean my skin without irritation or dryness.

Verdict: This month’s Stress Less Box contains about $36 worth of products, which is a few dollars shy of the monthly box cost. The box presentation and mix of organic and healthy products are high-quality, but really only two of them (the tea and body mist) proved to be relaxing and the product I liked the least (towelettes) accounted for a little less than half the total value. I appreciate discovering new and smaller healthy brands and am interested to see what lies ahead in future boxes. The info card mentioned calming activities, which were not included this month, so perhaps there will be better cohesion in the future if I can pair the products received with tools that promote relaxation.

  1. I was immediately drawn to the theme of this box. The items inside were of nice quality, but nothing whatsoever wowed me. Especially given the value (at full retail) vs. cost of box. If this were a $10-12 box, I may be more inclined to try it out for a few months to see how it shapes up. Based on this box-not so much. Nice idea though. Needs better curation.

  2. I love the idea of this box. I sooo need this in my life.
