Our Anonymous tipster is back! Are you ready for more potential spoilers for the February 2017 Play! By Sephora box?
According to Anonymous, here are some of the brands that will be sampled in February:
Some more hints–brand spoilers!
Note: I originally separated out a makeup option for the face because I felt it might be included in every box. Since I can’t guarantee that will happen, I lumped it back together with the other lip brands. Everything still subject to change.
Makeup: Lip (NARS Velvet Lip Glide, Tarte, Too Faced, Bite), Eyes (Sephora)
Skincare: Face (Clinique), Eyes (Origins)
Fragrance: (Tom Ford, Marc Jacobs, Prada)

For everyone that see’s my comment and is wondering about the play! products. I sent Liz a email that won’t post yet as its new. I got all the products for box 575 and sent them to her to post! 🙂💄
How do you know what box# you’re going to receive?
Charlotte
Hi Liz! I just gave you the play! Products and this email here doesn’t work the one I just gave you does. I hope this helps for my last comment on the play box!

Sephora had a Too Faced reward for Peach Gloss. I would be more than fine with that.

I had ipsy, Allure & Play. I cancelled Play after 3 months. I didn’t like that I was on a wait list for 6 months and I find their customer service to be lacking. I have loved Allure since I started and I’ve been so much happier with ipsy since I have rejected eyeliner. Sadly, the honeymoon was over for Play after 3 months.

I absolutely love play! I have never had a problem with customer service! Last month my lip product came broken and they credited my entire box! I find birchbox to be the worst and will most likely cancel. Ipsy I find has improved

I agree with you, likely the last month for me but let’s see. I’ve been very happy with allure, birchbox, and luxe pineapple post. Recently signed up for ipsy and am waitlisted for boxycharm. Different boxes appeal to different ppl, nothing wrong in with that, just experimenting to find the right fits.

I do agree with you on luxe pineapple though. It’s a cute box.

I have loved my play for 6 months now. I had birchbox, but it wasn’t for me. So to each his own or her own lol 😉

I am trying to think what the eye product from sephora brand would be, I hope that it false lashes! or an eyeshadow!

They have sample sizes of eye makeup remover…its probably not “new” to many but i was soooo happy to discover it years ago, its def my favorite makeup remover.
They also have sample sized eyeliner…. i havent seenthem give away shadows but that would be an awesome new surprise!

My ipsy subscription (12 months) is almost up and I’m debating trying Play instead. I prefer skin and hair care samples vs makeup. Any input from current Play subscribers?? TIA!

Hey!, I had ipsy for around 8 months, decided to cancel in Oct last year and at the same time I got the notification that I could sign up for PLAY! and I do not regret it, all the skincare samples I have received are super good I actually have used them, not like the ones that ipsy used to send me…
what I really about PLAY! is that you receive a perfume sample every month so its a total of 6 items and it’s always balanced.
I deff recommend it 🙂

I just cancelled my ipsy also. Currently doing Birchbox and Sephora Play.
I don’t wear a whole lot of makeup – mostly skincare is what I am after. I have only gotten one Sephora box so far, but I loved it. I am going to see how Birchbox does over the next few months and decide if I want to keep it, or switch to Allure.
michelle
I love play and it seems I get a hair product in almost every box. I get more skin care than makeup which I like. One month I did get all lip products but that was the theme and they all were really nice like smashbox and korres(my favorite)! 😉 I’d think ipsy gives more makeup.

I have ipsy, sephora, beautybox5 and Birchbox, and for hair products the best is birchbox plus you can choose one sample, a curated box where you know the exact five samples you’ll receive or randomly. Beauty box also send hair products every month but it feels more like “dollar store beauty box” I’m finishing my subscription and not resubscribing to bb5.

I subscribe to both and love them both! I get more popular item from Play! But I’ve gotten some items I dont like. If you sell the items you don’t want you’ll get more money from play! Items. I like trying new brands from ipsy tho. A lot of my favorite items came from brands I’d never heard of. Both are great at customizing your products just to you!

Thanks all!

I would try Birch Box as well if you want skin and care care the most. I did 6 months of BB and am set for life on that, plus you get a few beauty items here and there. It is also $10.

Lol hair care*

Play can be cancelled at anytime so, I say give it a try if you’re curious.

Clinique has some pepstart items we haven’t received yet. Tarte has a scrub stick for lips. Those would be nice to try.

My guesses for fragrances based on these spoilers:
– Tom Ford Velvet Orchid Lumière (Italian Bergamot, Rum Extraction, Black Orchid, Sandalwood)
– Marc Jacobs Daisy Kiss (Strawberry, Violet Leaves, Jasmine, White Woods)
– Prada Candy Kiss (Musks, Orange Blossom, Suave Vanilla)

Urg. Desperately want to try the Bite Agave lip balm. This is (probably sadly) keeping my dream alive.

The Bite lip masks are one of the options for the 3 free samples on Sephora right now if there was anything you were planning to order 🙂

I got that sample a looonnnggg time ago (like last year probably) and i still have one left! Loovveee it, its the perfect little travel treat for hotel/ airplane dry air and the 3 cute samples are generous and sturdy so if you dont peel off all the foil you can store them for later 😁
Kizzy
Same for me, as well as the Origins eye cream… think you may be right!
Vanessa
Ok, so from the spoilers I’m predicting that everyone gets the Nars lip slide obviously in whatever shade is in the spoiler photo (because it does also match the color of the fabric background in the first spoiler. THEN we will also get a lip product of either tarte, too faced or bite beauty (I’m hoping for bite beauty.) Then we’ll get a clinique face item, an origins eye item and then a fragrance of tom ford, marc jacobs or prada. All in all, it’s looking like a promising month!

EC
Plus the Sephora eye product, for a total of 5 products + the fragrance

Hope so 🙂

I think you’re right! They said multiple lip formulas so I think Nars + one of the other options

It clearly says that everyone is getting one of the lip items and that it may not be NARS.

There always seems to be a lot of negativity regarding this sub, with items that “aren’t good enough”. I don’t spend hundreds of dollars at sephora on a monthly basis, so I’m always happy with trying out some new things. If you’re one of those people who constantly complains, just unsub and be done with it. You’re ruining the fun for everyone else.

Then skip over the negative comments. This is what the comment section is for. Duh

Agreed! Everyone is different, and Sephora can’t please every single one of us. That’s just not possible.

I agree, I love getting all of my sub boxes, yes sometimes I am sad, but I am never to the point of being angry or envious. I don’t understand how some people can get so worked up over it. Don’t buy it then, right?

Michelle
Seriously, it’s $10! Some may need to level set their expectations.

The Bite Multistick is my guess for the item she moved from face to lips

Skincare: Face (Clinique), Eyes (Origins)
Boring brands, giving out tons of samples all year round.
Can’t be worse.

Um she is answering the question at the bottom of the post that asks what we think of the items

Hmm, kinda disappointed that not everyone will be getting NARS. Clinique and origins aren’t really enviable brands. I’m preparing myself to get a box variation that isn’t ideal so I won’t be as disappointed as last month. If I’m not happy with what I get though I’m seriously unsubbing since it’ll be 3 months in a row of nothing I like.

I can’t take the ginger scent in all their products. It doesn’t go away after applying either. Origins and Clinique are out for me.

How do you know or request a certain brand of lip product from the brands listed?
Reply
Lola EB
You can’t select a brand but at least all the brands are quality. Some people react differently to products which is why having samples to try of high end items makes Sephora Play a great box. I have not been disappointed in any of the Sephora brand products either. Or at least not yet. I find myself buying Sephora brand products as a result of these samples. I also fell in love with their Pro makeup brush line. A bit expensive but I love the ones I’ve bought.

Linda
I agree! I would have never been interested in sephora brand products if not for this box, always previously having viewed them as “cheap” because of the lower price, but man sometimes the sephora product is my favorite of the whole box!
And i dont see why some people get upset with the brand variation…nars vs smashbox, etc…i wouldnt be surprized to learn they are from the same manufacturers. Its mostly just the packaging thats different 😒 and they are all great quality 🙂
Ps….needlessly defending them on an online forum–> i think im in love with sephora 😣
Tt
It’s $10 a month, are you seriously expecting an option to pick your brand? Come on.
Reply
Kc
You can’t. You are stuck with what they give you, so some ppl get better versions than others and you have no control over it. Welcome to play by Sephora!
