Each box comes with a booklet detailing the month’s products and prices. Art of Organics theme this month was “Gem” and all the products were gemstone and metal infused. Gemstones and metals are said to have therapeutic healing properties and I was excited to try these products this month.

Rose Quartz Facial Massager - Value $20

I’ve never explored facial massagers before and was excited to see this beautiful pink heart-shaped one. It has a good weight to it and feels so smooth and cold to the touch. In order to use apply a balm or serum to your face first which will make the massager glide smoothly on the skin and not pull. The stone will begin to warm up as it is massaged upwards and outwards on your face. In the morning it can be used to reduce puffiness and increase circulation. At night it can be used to held absorption of nighttime serums and creams. I found the entire process incredibly relaxing and soothing.

24 Karat Gold Luxe Restorative Balm (0.5 oz.) - Value $44

This brilliant yellow balm reminds me of the beautiful color of an egg yolk. It’s so luxurious and regular applications is doing wonders for my winter-parched skin. My skin feels incredibly soft and this balm, though rich, leaves no shiny appearance or greasy feeling. This balm is nutrient-dense and is made with argan oil, shea butter, marula oil, and pomegranate and cranberry seed oils among others. This is easily one of my favorite subscription box discoveries for 2016. A full-size pot of this balm is $160 and I now need to figure out a way to get my hands on it!

clean-beauty-december-2016-mask

Moon Dust Crystal Charged Detox Mask by The Ritual (1 oz.) - Value $10

This powdered clay mask is made from activated charcoal, essential oils and bentonite clay with crushed amethyst crystals. It smells like relaxing lavender and with a little bit of water easily forms a paste which can be applied and then rinsed off the face. This jar will last for about 8-10 masks. I liked that the mask wasn’t abrasive at all.

Verdict: This month’s Clean Beauty Box value is $74, which is almost double the cost of the box! Their consistently high value never ceases to amaze and delight me. I find that you really need a good amount of product to know if a skincare product is going to work for you and that’s one of the reasons I love this box. Instead of tiny samples that you only get 1-2 uses out of, these full-size products will last for weeks and even months. Their ingredient conscious choices fit well into my beauty regimen as well. I couldn’t be more thrilled with the discovery of the 24 Karat Gold Balm this month. I highly recommend this subscription!

I am not sure if you should use it this way but I like using the stone while using a sheet mask. It seems to help get the serum in my skin and feels nice.

Thought the massager was a bit gimmicky, until I used it. It really does help take down the puff in the morning, relaxing and it glides over the skin. Much better than using your fingers which can tug the skin. I’ve been really impressed with this box every month. Keep trying to find excuses to cancel because of the price but each box has delivered.

I recently started to use Eve Lom’s Morning Time Cleanser, which has a balm consistency, and it does wonders, not just in keeping my skin moisturized all day in this very dry, cold weather, but it also allows me to do a wonderfully relaxing mini facial massage every morning. Since it’s a balm, it has great slip (i.e. no rubbing on the skin!), and I usually do a massage for about 30 seconds to 1 minute. I actually ended up receiving two of these boxes (due to an error by Art of Organics, they accidentally sent me two December boxes instead of the November box when I re-subscribed last month. They were kind enough to still send me the November box (with an extra goodie!) and let me keep the 2nd December box), but I gifted both of the massaging stones. They were pretty, but I prefer to use my fingers when doing a facial massage with balms & oils. I think I’m a tactile type of person. 🙂
