This was the info letter that came in the package. This month, six people received a Ring Wi-Fi Enabled Video Doorbell in their package! Next month at least seven people will receive a Fitbit Charge 2 Heart Rate + Fitness Wristband in their box. Fingers crossed!

This card was also included, informing subscribers of the many things they are giving away to people who make purchases on 13 Deals. On the reverse is an advertisement for Pet Treater Box.

The final piece of literature included this month was this coupon for Hello Fresh.

mystery-box-of-awesome-january-2017-gloves

Cut Resistant Gloves - Value $9.99

These are the perfect work gloves for my husband! They are made from 100% high-grade stainless steel and polyethylene, so they will resist blade cuts or chemical exposure. He gets nicks and cuts all the time, and these will be so helpful.

Philips Dimmable 40W Light Bulbs - Value $23.96

For light bulbs, these have a pretty hefty resume! They are energy saving and dimmable, and they sparkle, too!

mystery-box-of-awesome-january-2017-warmer

mystery-box-of-awesome-january-2017-warmer-2

Westinghouse Wax Free Fragrance Warmer - Value $11.99

We actually already received a Westinghouse Wax Free Fragrance Warmer from a previous MBoA, so this is a little disappointing. This one is cuter, though. I guess it would be fine to have one in more than one room in the house. The disks last forever, and they smell great!

Westinghouse Wax Free Fragrance Disks (x2) - Value $4

On the other hand, I'm thrilled to have more fragrance disks, particularly the sun-dried linen scented ones! They actually make the room smell fantastic in minutes, and they last a really long time.

Bacon Calendar - Value $4.97 (from the price tag)

Haha! I have to admit, I do love bacon, but I don't know if I'm enough of a fan to have a calendar that insults people who don't like bacon. Maybe I'm reading too much into it.

mystery-box-of-awesome-january-2017-rub-2

Weber Coffee Rub - Value $7.19

Wow, that's a lot of rub! This gluten-free rub consists of coffee, chili pepper, and cocoa powder. I don't use rubs very much, so I am going to pass this along to a friend who is constantly grilling. It smells great, though!

mystery-box-of-awesome-january-2017-mugs-3

Star Wars Mug + Cocoa Gift Set - Value $5.99?

My sons love these mugs, of course! I was a little skeeved out by the sticker on the front of the package, though. It says the cocoa mix has passed its "Best Before" date!

Verdict: I sometimes feel like it's worth the $25 just to see what I'm going to get every month from the Monthly Mystery Box by Jamminbutter, it's so much fun! This month was a healthy mix of hits and misses for us, but we definitely got several things we will use. The original retail value of everything this month totals $68.09, which is amazing for a $25 box!

I got this as my first subscription box. I got the same warmer. I had it plugged in less then four hours and left the room for about 15 minutes. When I returned there was smoke streaming from the base and a horrible burning odor. I emailed the company to let them know and got no response. I have cancelled my subscription (and threw away the warmer!).

I would strongly recommend not subscribing. I tried contacting them today to have them remove my credit card information and they refused to do so. They stated that it did not matter that I had cancelled, they were going to keep it on file permanently. The information is not obfuscated – all employees have access to the database. With Jammin’ Butter being the parent company – which I did not know, and if I had known, I never would have signed up in the first place, I did not trust them with that information after their Peaches and Petals month and a half long debacle. The matter ended with me cancelling my card and ordering a new one. Stay far away from this company.

We’ve actually found all the items useful in my home this month, which is unusual for this box. All the items got claimed by the one family member or another. This is just a fun box, no expectations, but always a surprise. Some months, nicer than others for sure.

Trader Joe’s sells a similar rub and it is fantastic seasoning for roasted potatoes!

I got that mug set for my husband 2 Christmases ago if that helps anyone. It doesn’t have that sticker, lol. The cocoa is still in there though. *eyeroll*

I think I would’ve loved this box.

As a vegetarian, I’m not offended by the bacon calendar.

As an editor, I’m offended by the cocoa and mugs sticker: “…is PASSED IT’S ‘best buy’ date.” 🙂

Pilar

I like vegetarians like you that don’t get offended at every little thing, because I didn’t thought it was bad either. Lol

Amber

it should say “past its ‘best by’ date”

While I think that this box might have what some people refer to as “cheap junk” – the stuff is always super usable IMO. Who can’t use light bulbs? And who thinks to buy cut proof gloves which are actually really handy to have around?? And as far as the Star Wars mugs, what a perfect gift for someone…everyone has a Star Wars fan in their lives!

While I don’t subscribe, I always enjoy checking out the reviews for this box!

I didn’t see insults on the calendar, but everything is offensive to someone so maybe I just missed it 🙂
