Mad Cat Bacon & Egg – Value $6.99
Score! Ever since my first Mad Cat toy, I have wanted the bacon and egg, and now I have them. I just think they are adorable. (The cats like them, too.)
Funny random note, but when you do a Google image search for these toys, you end up with about half the pictures being of my cats from MSA reviews…
Ruff & Whiskerz Meowbox Exclusive Toy – Value $4?
I think I photographed this upside down. I am pretty sure it is supposed to be an octopus. This is a good size for tossing around and New Guy seems to like it. (It is kind of weird having a 99-month-oldcat around after having only senior kitties for so long.) This isn’t available in the Meowbox shop so the value is an estimate.
Animalove Wool Balls for Cats (medium density felt, pack of 2) – Value $6.11 USD
Monkey loves to bat balls around and so does New Guy. It is only a matter of time before these disappear beneath some piece of furniture…These are made in Canada so I’ve converted the price from Canadian dollars.
Cat and Scratch from Gigwi – Value $5.44?
This is another Meowbox exclusive so I have linked to a similar item. It has an interesting collection of textures (the body is fuzzy, kind of like velour, and of course all those ribbons in the tail area). New Guy is a fan of the tail.
Omega Paw Meowjito (3 oz) – Value $3.84
We received the “Meowmosa” treats from this same product line in another box, but these were more popular with my kitties. (None of these treats have any kind of alcohol in them, don’t worry about that.)
Cat photos ahead!
Monkey was rolling around on the floor rubbing himself all over the bacon toy.
Monkey lets us all know that ALL the toys are his.
9 times out of 10, giving Madison a treat is the only way I can get him to pose for photos.
And the other 10% of the time, the pictures are like this. (Seriously, though, Madison is a fan of Mad Cat toys. He just didn’t feel like showing it this day.)
Extreme close-up of Sneaky.
Mr. Kitty showed some interest in the egg toy. He’s an old, chronically ill guy, so I’m happy when he shows interest in anything!
And here are a few pictures of the New Guy. He actually liked pretty much every toy from this box. I think the little wool balls were his favorites, but he enjoyed the textures on the Gigwi toy, as well.
Verdict: I calculated a value of $26.38 for the January Meowbox. That is a fairly typical value for Meowbox (although I could be off by a little on the values of the exclusive toys). I do wish they’d include maybe one more item to round out the value a bit. My cats did like everything, though. And you can always use our ADDICTION coupon or purchase a multi-month subscription, which will get you much closer to breaking even.
For what it’s worth, Meowbox sends smaller toys (their box is small) and a fair number of Etsy and/or exclusive items, so it might be worthwhile if that is the type of subscription you’re in the market for.
What did you think of the January 2017 Meowbox? Do you subscribe to any cat boxes?
